### 2/5 — Perfect when they work

*2018-10-15, version 2.18.1*

It’s a perfect idea and I love it, I just have three complaints.
1) I’m at midterms and now almost all the bikes are broken, I can’t find a working bike so I have to walk 2 miles to my dorm
2) The prices change without telling you. The start of the year it was .50 cents per ride, now it’s $1.50 and I don’t have any explanation given to me as to why it is this way
3) They charge you even when a bike is broken. I have unlocked bikes only to find they’re broken and no one reported it so now I’m paying $1.5 for a ride I can’t even have. It should either A) hold the charge until they confirm that the bike is broken and then if it isn’t charge you OR B) Make it that if the bike is broken and you cancel without a minute it doesn’t charge you for it.

I will reiterate, it’s a great idea and I love it, but only when it works. Bikes should be fixed more than they are and the charges are sometimes unfair or unexplained leading to discontent. I like Ofos but the company needs a lot of restructuring to continue being something that me and my peers will use.

### 1/5 — Extremely poor customer service.

*2018-08-25, version 2.15.0*

The company was great, and I even recommended it to friends and family. But, after a recent visit to San Diego most of the bikes were broken and the app still charged us for each bike that we couldn’t ride. In fact, after submitting a repair report, it won’t show the trip completed... time is just ticking away and I haven’t been there for a week! *No response from the company after many attempts*

### 1/5 — Very unreliable here in San Diego

*2018-08-17, version 2.14.0*

Every other ofo bike is severely damaged. It was very fun and efficient when it was first brought to San Diego but it seems like not much is put into maintaining the bikes. So many bikes are damaged. You can walk for 15 minutes to a bike just to find it has to handle bad grip. The basket has been ripped off. And it is being used as a post in a homeless persons camp. This is a sight I see more often then not. Many bikes have parts taken off. Ofo doesn’t let you know when these bike are out of service. I’ve seen the same broken bike sit outside on the corner of my street for 2 weeks. Great idea. Just wish more was taken into consideration in terms of maintenance.

### 4/5 — Feature request!

*2018-08-10, version 2.14.0*

I love the app.. just downloaded it this week and used it for the first time today - what a great idea!

My suggestion would be to have the ability to send data to the health or workout apps on the iPhone, so that I don’t have to start a workout on my Apple Watch for “bike ride,” it would just automatically add it.

Add that and my rating would be 5 stars!

### 4/5 — Great service; some improvements needed

*2018-08-05, version 2.13.0*

Ofo is a terrific service. I use it regularly and it’s super convenient, a great idea and well-executed. A couple of issues, though: (1) the app is slow to update so some bikes show up on the map but are not really available, or are in a different location than the app displays; (2) bike availability could be improved. Maybe it’s London specifically but sometimes it’s hard to find a bike nearby, which erodes the convenience aspect; (3) since bikes are not that widely available, bikes needing repair exacerbate the problem — sometimes the only bikes we can find are faulty ones.

Overall, though, I highly recommend it! It’s super convenient and easy.

### 2/5 — DC Ofo hit & miss

*2018-07-19, version 2.12.0*

I’m surprised by all the rave reviews because that is not the case here in Washington DC. On multiple occasions the app shows bikes that don’t exist. And before Ofo claims I just couldn’t find the bike, that is not the case. In one instance, Ofo directed me to a bike supposedly located in a baseball diamond near the Washington monument. This was an open space area with no trees or buildings, yet once again there was no bike to be found so I had to walk another 3 blocks to a competitor bike company. Your mileage may vary but in my experience this is the worst app of the many dockless bike companies in DC.

### 2/5 — unreliable

*2018-07-06, version 2.11.0*

the concept of the app is great. price per ride is pretty cheap. my only complaint about the app is how unreliable the GPS for the bikes are. when i see a bike on the map and try to go to it, it’s like a 50/50 gamble for whether the bike is actually there. it’s very frustrating for me. it gets me home late; rather than getting a bike, i’d have to walk. finding a bike is like trying to find gold.
overall, this is a good app, but don’t completely rely on it to get you places.
-rebecca

update: 7/6/18
today my friend and i had horrible luck with the app. my friend had a defective bike. she had to unlock it twice, costing her more money than she would have wanted. the bike took a lot of effort to pedal with, and it also made this screeching noise the whole time she rode it.

### 2/5 — Great service, app has some issues

*2018-07-03, version 2.11.0*

I love everything about dockless bike sharing and use it a lot despite having my own bike! But this app is poorly designed. The map screen is half hidden by a pop up advertising a free week and a huge unlock button, and often I accidentally click the pop up when I’m looking for bikes. And overnight I got 39 push notifications telling me to purchase an ofo pass. Please spend a little more time on your UI ofo!

### 1/5 — Gross business strategy and full of fraud charge

*2018-06-23, version 2.10.0*

For everyone who want to use ofo in mainland China, don’t use this app! It charge a higher deposit fee, two time the version from Chinese App Store or other Chinese version. The per ride rate is also twice higher than the Chinese version! Beside the gross business strategy, it charges even if you get a unusable bike! Go for alternative providers who take no deposit and friendlier fee if you ride in mainland China!

### 3/5 — Deceptive pricing

*2018-06-12, version 2.10.0*

When you start for the first time it says “you first 5 rides are free for the first 3 days”. This is a lie. They really mean “the first hour of your first 5 rides are free”. They charged me $3 with a $2 discount, which worked out to $1. That did decidedly not “free”.

Also there are dark patterns where they try to make you accidentally sign up for a subscription. They do this “start your first week free” overlay on the map whose hit box is much bigger than the overlay.

Besides these annoyances, I’ve used the bikes a decent amount and found them useful.

### 2/5 — Horrible customer service

*2018-06-04, version 2.9.0*

I downloaded the app in a hurry and was instructed to sign up for a subscription that I could “opt out of at anytime,” but after using the app once during a conference, I’m still being charged $25 per month. I couldn’t find a place to cancel a subscription through the app, so I deleted the app and wrote an email to Ofo asking for help. I never heard back from customer service, and Ofo is not showing up in my subscriptions list under my Apple ID, but I was just charged again. I wrote to Ofo again (I can’t find a phone number), and haven’t heard back yet. If anyone has any advice, please help!

### 1/5 — Better options

*2018-05-25, version 2.8.0*

This app was not intuitive to start. The locator was about a block off until we got closer. Unlocking And locking bike worked as it should and bike was maintained fine.
A good value for someone that relies on this mode of transportation over a car.
They should have daily or weekly options, pay as you go.
Canceling this service is not easy. There is NO WAY to cancel the service without contacting the company. (Electronically). Thus, the main reason for my low review. It took 8 business days to hear back from someone stating it would still be some time YET to cancel my service. This is unacceptable. A racquet to pull another draft out of my account, and there is no phone number to actually talk to someone. Shady company.
I will be using city sponsored programs that have stations for their bikes and more purchase options when I don’t have my own bike available. Never again.

### 1/5 — ZERO STARs!!! This app is a SCAM!!!!

*2018-05-18, version 2.8.0*

I’ve been scammed by this app.. tried it w/free trial but the bikes didn’t work & when I tried to cancel though the app there’s no option & user guide is “down” in app... & NO CUSTOMER SERIVE PHONE #!!! & they WILL NOT respond to my emails asking them to cancel it because The place where they say you can cancel it in the app does not exist in my app!! They say it’s under wallet, “manage” which I DO NOT HAVE in my app!!!!! Now I am gettin charged & will have to dispute it as a scam with my credit card company!! Do yourself a favor & Use the other bike shares THAT HAVE A CUSTOMER SERVicE PHONE NUMBER!!! THIS ONE IS A SCAM IN MAy 2018!! I have no idea how other ppl have had any type of positive experience!!! Horrible scam of a company!! I have evidence and screen shots of all this!!

### 1/5 — Love the idea of bike during lunch hour

*2018-05-16, version 2.8.0*

I got a text this morning saying they put 3 point on my ofo account. I had no idea about the “operational area” since it was my first time since the bike was parked outside of my work. I should have gotten a warning before hand. The gears didn’t even work. Easy to use but won’t give you any warnings that you need to know about the bike. By the way, how can you read the operational map when you can’t see the borders on the map.

### 3/5 — Great system, not for tall people

*2018-05-15, version 2.7.0*

I'm a cyclist and almost 6' tall. The Ofo app and overall system works great but but the bikes' seats only raise a little bit. If you're tall, your knees are not going to be happy on the Ofo bikes. Why they have nice adjustable seatposts that only come up high enough for a 5"8' person is kind of a mystery to me. I still use the bikes, but standing up the whole time I'm pedaling.

### 2/5 — Free bikes!!!

*2018-05-14, version 2.7.0*

Apparently everyone is San Diego got the memo that read “finders, keepers”. I went to a park where one bike shows up on the map. But I saw 5.

The one on the map, someone put a padlock on the chain. Another, the back tire was frozen in space, on other was missing the lock used with the app (stolen), another one was spray painted blue. We did finally find one that worked as predicted, thought is was pretty banged up.

For a subscription service at $25 a month, then the inventory needs to be available. Also, I am thinking San Diego is not ready for this level of community sharing; we just can’t have nice things here.

### 1/5 — STAY AWAY IN SINGAPORE

*2018-05-05, version 2.7.0*

Terrible terrible TERROIBLE!!!!!
I have been using them in Singapore, the app has millions of glitch, and if there is any problem, first you still need to pay the fee, coz other way your account is blocked, and then after their "investigation" you get the money back. Got ridiculous situation twice within a month: first they charged me for 4hrs ride, when i rode only 10 mins, when I paid the amount the ride dissapeard from the hotrod of my ride, so I got refund ONLY because I have been charge the money from my account, then despite of having a pass that gives you free rides for 120 mins after 30 mins I was charged and again needed to pay the amount in order to use the app. Then I had to wait like 2 days for an answer from their facebook site. there is an immediate answer but it is automatically generate. So not very helpful.
Now the prices are ridiculous.
DO NOT USE OFO IN SINGAPORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The competition has much better customer service and prices!
I mean just look at the amount of their 1 star reviews on Facebook.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App doesn’t work properly, and customer service doesn’t reply back

*2019-06-18, version 2.30.0*

I have come to London for a 2 day trip with my friends and decided to do some bike ride. I installed the Ofo app as per the hostel’s guide suggestion as they said the app is easy to use and the service is affordable.

I immediately installed the app and topped up my wallet with some suggested balance (the suggested top up amount of $10) and, after getting everything settled, I couldn’t find any bike. Nothing was showing up in the app and I couldn’t find anything useful which could instruct me to get to use it more immediately and put me in the bike ride asap (as we were very short on time). Also, the app was crashing quite a lot.

Therefore, since we couldn’t use the app - as my friends wouldn’t even get the sms so they couldn’t get to the point I did - we gave up from using Ofo bike.

Now I’ve tried to contact the app support many times to understand the situation and whether I could get a refund. For my surprise, none of the mail addresses listed in the app seem to work - one of them returns the message and I’ve never gotten a reply from the second one.

When I contacted Apple for help, they’ve asked me to leave a review as a last resort, before Apple can take it more seriously.

### 1/5 — Dont waste your time!

*2018-12-17, version 2.23.0*

A year ago I wrote a 4 star review of Ofo. Today 1. My only concern a year ago was the number of bikes with issues. Now they are charging just to unlock it! And then if you find out its broken ... Well good luck. I was overcharged twice, emailed them. Its been THREE MONTHS and NO response. 6 weeks ago I asked them to refund the balance on my account and my deposit. They removed the deposit but have not returned it to me. The balance in my wallet still shows but I can't use it unless I give them another deposit! Yeah right!

Ofo is BAD business. There are better bikes out there. Better condition and less money with a real customer service team. If its available in your a tea I would recommend MoBike

### 1/5 — Theives!

*2018-11-20, version 2.21.0*

Ofo stole my deposit.

I had been using ofo, downloaded from the US app store, in China, where I was charged 3x the local rate by the app and charged for each of the times I opened a broken bike. That's a lot, frankly, because their bikes are garbage. Literally half the ofo bikes littering the streets in Beijing are unrideable.

One day a special offer popped up in my app. "Ride deposit free" it said. Sounds good, right? Especially since who knows when this fly by night operation is going to collapse entirely.

So anyway, I pressed the button. Instantly, instead of returning my deposit to my card, it gets converted to "ofo credit," which is only refundable in theory. I have made repeated attempts to contact the company and the emails listed in the app are delinquent, and I have made numerous other unsuccessful efforts to contact them. They have an F rating from the Better Business Bureau. Don't be fooled by their fake rating on the app store, which is undoubtedly the work of gorilla marketers in China.

### 1/5 — Great Idea, App Malfunctions

*2018-11-17, version 2.20.0*

I live in China and these bikes are everywhere... it’s an awesome idea, but the app NEVER works correctly. It constantly times out, sometimes when unlocking the bike, and sometimes when trying to complete a trip. If it times out when unlocking, I can’t use the app at all. If it times out when completing the trip, I end up getting charged for a trip that is several HOURS longer than my actual ride. This is not due to lack of cell service- all of my other apps work fine, and this happens every single time I use the app.

The bikes are also pretty rough- many with broken brakes. I only attempt use ofo still because I have a credit in my account. If you live in China, don’t bother- use mobike instead.

### 1/5 — Amazing idea, subpar execution

*2018-11-13, version 2.20.0*

Ofo would be amazing if... there was ever one actually near you. Not only are there too few bikes, the app is also totally unreliable in terms of pinpointing where the bikes are. I have showed up at the alleged spot literally 15+ times only to find no bike. When you are in a rush you don’t have time to put your Sherlock hat on and investigate where it actually is... I went from an excited user to a very unlikely user in the future due to these issues.

### 1/5 — BEWARE OF UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES

*2018-10-02, version 2.18.0*

I dowloaded this app. It forced me to pay 200 yuan for a deposit. I paid and waited for the deposit to be given back to me. Now it is just credit on my account when it said it was a deposit. I contacted their support email several times and have received no answers from then. Later I found out that this is a common practice by this company. Do your research before and see how they have this issue in several countries. Stay away from this company. You’ve been warned.

### 1/5 — Don’t use if you’re a tourist

*2018-09-24, version 2.17.1*

I was in Beijing and wanted to try it out, unfortunately the “free ride” bike didn’t work, so I decided to pay. Headaches later, I’ve paid a “deposit” and minimum payment, totaling $40. I assumed the deposit would be refunded at some point, but it hasn’t been refunded, and the support doesn’t seem able to help in any way. Basically paid $40 to struggle for 30 minutes to find a bike that actually worked, then ride a piece of junk for an hour. Total ripoff for a tourist!

### 1/5 — No customer service

*2018-09-23, version 2.17.1*

I bought 10 Euros credit because it was supposed to come with a 3 euro bonus. I should have 13 euros on my account, but instead received 5 euros. I contacted customer service two days ago and still haven’t heard back. The bikes are decent—almost every bike I’ve rented has had at least one problem—the gears skip, the basket is loose, the bell has been broken. This is clearly not ofo’s fault, but when you rent a bike and it works poorly, you can’t switch bikes for free—you have to pay again or just accept an uncomfortable ride. The positive is that the bikes have three gears (although with half the bikes I rented, I couldn’t use all the gears) and are not terribly heavy.

### 1/5 — Bad service, no customer service, take my deposit no refund

*2018-09-11, version 2.16.0*

I used my phone number create an ofo account and put my deposit. Then I went to America and didn't use it for a year. I didn't change my phone number and didn't ask for refund. When I come back this year, redownload this APP, it tells me to register again. So where is my account? Where is my deposit? Supper bad service, and no credit company. Be careful when you use it.

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2018-09-10, version 2.16.0*

Terrible app. Used so much bandwidth you can’t map anything while it’s running. Being able to use maps while biking somewhere is pretty important. Sends the same notification about the operating area every time you touch the screen making it hard to use the app bc you’re constantly clearing the notification. Won’t let you search for a second bike (say, if wanting to ride with a friend who is having signal trouble).
Very very frustrating app that ruined the experience the 3 times I tried ofo bikes. Half the bikes were in need of repair, but the app was the big negative. Definitely won’t use ofo again, which is a shame bc I love biking.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Why I love ofo!

*2018-06-25, version 2.10.0*

First off ofo is such an amazing app in countless ways! It allows for easy and fast transportation. With tons of bikes and gps to find them. Another reason why I find this app to be so amazing is the price! Not only is I just an hour for a dollar but because my cluelessness I’ve accidentally forgot to stop it on my phone! The ofo saying I rode it for 71 hours. My heart nearly stopped but thanks to the generosity of ofo the stop it at 5 dollars which twice had come in so handy. Ofo is by far one of the top apps when it comes to transportation

### 5/5 — Amazing!!

*2018-05-20, version 2.8.0*

Today was my first time using a bike share app and it was awesome! The bike was a bit hard to use at first due to my short legs, but it was very nice! I like how inexpensive it is! I was easily able to use it to go get groceries! It’s a lot cheaper than the LimeBike. Will definitely be using more often! Thanks Ofo!

### 5/5 — Great Service!

*2018-05-13, version 2.7.0*

This helps get me around AND save’s me money. Great app! Only complaint is that many people don’t respect the bikes and damage them. I find a bike and want to ride it but it doesn’t have working brakes or has the gears messed up. There’s should be an accountability feature 1st and 2nd they should try to repair them as faster.

### 5/5 — Great Service & Technology

*2018-04-19, version 2.6.0*

Great experience! So easy and the bikes are great quality. The only thing that could make it better would be if I could unlock multiple bikes with my account to ride with a friend or a family member.

### 5/5 — The yellow bike system is amazing!

*2018-03-26, version 2.4.2*

Ofo bikes are an amazing addition to the function and ease of access on my college campus. I have been using them whenever I’m running late to classes and walking will be too slow. So glad these are here!

### 5/5 — Love this option!

*2018-03-23, version 2.4.2*

Love this option for short trips back and forth around the city. Easier than walking plus quicker and cheaper than Uber when you're in town for a convention!

### 5/5 — Enjoy it while it lasts.

*2018-03-20, version 2.4.1*

These bikes are rad, but the NIMBYs in my city hate them. Also dummies do stupid things to them. I fear they will not be around very long. The free month is great and I do plan on using them after because the price point is reasonable, unlike some other “public” bicycles.

### 5/5 — Excellent service

*2018-03-16, version 2.3.0*

The bikes are easy to find and use, check in is super simple and quick, ride is smooth, lock and check out is quick. These bikes and this program are great and I wish we had dock free bike sharing in my city! Plus, of course, the price of free cannot be beat! Will definitely be recommending this to others.

### 5/5 — Great idea!! People just need to be nicer to the bikes, and a couple app glitches

*2018-03-15, version 2.3.0*

I took my fourth Ofo ride today, and this is such a great idea!! The bikes are comfortable and easy to ride. My guess is that most of us buy a bike and then it sits unused 98% of the time, so it’s a good way to make better use of resources, plus let Ofo take care of maintenance, upgrades, etc. I hope this succeeds.
Two pieces of feedback:
- People need to be more respectful of the bikes. I’ve found then tossed on the ground with handlebars in the mud. That’s not right.
- I had a couple glitches with the app. It didn’t unpair my experience, but on this last ride the app said I went 66 feet on my 35min ride, which is definitely not correct. I’m not worried about tracking my miles, but would be good to figure out why that happened (eg, issue with the phone or the app or the bike)

### 5/5 — The fastest and most fun way to get around downtown.

*2018-03-06, version 2.3.0*

Love the cost effectiveness of these bikes. So easy to use once you do the initial setup on the app. Hop on a bike and ride in literally less that 10 seconds. Amazing idea. Can’t find parking where you want? I just park near a bike and ride to and from. So easy.
