App useless and deleted. ### 1/5 — Used to be good, not anymore *2025-07-31, version 3.8.20* These guys were awesome when they first hit the scene as OzForex, they undercut the bank rates massively. It’s a shame I have to give them 1 star, but I went to wire a large amount of money internationally the other day, there rate was identical to the Commbank rate. They will lose their place in the FX market. Why wire through a third party to get a Commbank rate??? I’ll just use Commbank where my bank account is lol. OFX uninvented the sole reason they were successful in the first place. ### 1/5 — Rate information *2025-07-16, version 3.8.20* Whatever reason they make you login everytime just to check the “actual customer rate” for the day. The rate displayed at start of app loading (without logged in) is totally wrong and misleading so either you don’t go ahead with transfer since rate displayed at start is low (in reality the rate is higher once logged in). Even though it’s their loss of users abandoning due to seeing lower rate at start (without logged in), users who want to transfer might lose on good rates not knowing that rate displayed at start is incorrect. And rate difference between displayed vs actual once logged in, is not in cents however difference of $3-4 which is quite a bit. ### 2/5 — Falling behind the times *2025-07-12, version 3.8.17* I’ve used OFX for more than 15 years but they’ve fallen behind the times. For example it still takes up to 1 business day between OFX receiving my money in one country and then paying it out in the destination, despite many banking systems having real-time payments at either end of this process. By contrast I can move money in realtime between my HSBC accounts in UK and Australia - and the last time I moved money I compared the rates and HSBC were slightly better too. ### 4/5 — It works well, would recommend *2025-04-17, version 3.8.16* As OFX are a FCA regulated organisation please just make sure all your details are correct and verified before you transfer. Don’t simply try to download the app and use it without doing all of the back-end paperwork first. Once you do that, you will have a pretty good experience! ### 1/5 — WISE is better *2025-03-10, version 3.8.14* The onboarding process and direct debit setup were plagued by repeated compliance inquiries and delays. The most disappointing aspect is the lack of competitive FX rates. For a small transfer (couple of hundred dollars), you have to play phone tag with them for hours and submit tons of documents. It's much easier to just use Western Union instead. ### 1/5 — Disaster *2026-06-29, version 3.8.31* Not sure why anyone would use or trust OFX. Enormous friction just trying to sign up. Calling is pointless, they don’t answer the phone, it just goes to voicemail with a message saying “voicemail box is full”. And the internet if FULL of horror stories of people who regretted using OFX. Remember folks, if you lose your money to scam, it isn’t cheaper. Stay safe online, don’t fall for scams, don’t trust online reviews either, they can be faked. ### 1/5 — The app won't work on Mac OS before version 15 *2026-05-04, version 3.8.24* My computer is a year and a half old and runs on Mac 14.5. Now, I can't use OFX on the app, as this is "too old." What kind of app discriminates against anyone without a this-years-model computer or phone? Their exchange rates are favourable when compared to the so called “big 4” in Australia and, whilst my transfers are not considered large, funds are usually received within 24 hours (it helps if you time when to transfer)and fees charged are not excessive. I’m very pleased with the level of customer service they provide! Money usually arrives within 5-8 days and the USD to OMR seems fair. ### 5/5 — Be advised when you install this update. *2024-11-13, version 3.8.8* The November 2024 app update will require you to restart your phone after updating. ### 5/5 — Better than XE or InstaREM for USD $ to MXN peso *2024-09-04, version 3.8.6* OFX has consistently given me the best rate and fastest service to Mexican pesos. I read the review from the person who was having trouble setting up their Mexican account number with only 10 digits. While a Mexican bank account may be 10 digits, the Clabe used for all SPEI transfers is always 18 digits. Mexican banks should give you both. It’s also NOT your 16 digit debit card number. As for speed of transfer, whenever I use a wire transferring my funds to OFX, I get it the same day at my bank in Mexico. An afternoon wire might be next morning. All ACH transfers of funds to OFX usually takes no longer than 3-4 days. I’ve always had great customer service whenever I’ve called. Initial setup is a process, but if you give what they ask for, it’s fairly smooth. Just make sure bank account names match, addresses match, etc. and it’s a piece of cake. If you don’t think you are getting the best rate, call them. Also consider how much you are transferring and how frequently. I’m sure these factors may affect your rate. If you only transfer $500 every 6 months, why would you expect the very best rates? OFX has always given me the best rates directly from my US bank to Mexican bank without having to use their App to spend my money or having to deal with a quasi banking App such as Wise and the like. ### 5/5 — Domestic Transfer *2024-08-22, version 3.8.4* I have been using OFX for over 15 years to send money to our daughter and family in Australia, for gifts, birthdays, Xmas etc and always received excellent services.
