## What is OHMIE Electric?

OHMIE is the code-checked material takeoff for licensed electricians and electrical contractors — right parts, right sizes, verified against the National Electrical Code before you pull a single wire.

THE PROBLEM
A callback for a code violation or an undersized run isn't just a redo — it's the truck roll, the wasted material, the lost labor hours, and a customer who's now nervous about the whole job. Most of that is preventable at the takeoff stage, before the first conductor goes in the wall.

HOW IT WORKS
Answer a few questions about the job — load, distance, conductor material, wiring method, location — and OHMIE runs them against the NEC sizing tables in real time: ampacity (310.16), equipment grounding conductors (250.122), conduit fill by raceway type (Chapter 9), voltage drop, 125% continuous-load factors, and small-conductor caps (240.4(D)). You get a sized, code-checked material list with the citation for every line — no guesswork, no separate code-book lookup.

BUILT FOR THE WAY YOU ACTUALLY WORK
• 100 real job types across residential and commercial — panels, service upgrades, EV chargers, spas, motors, solar interconnects, and more
• New construction and remodel mode: phase-by-phase work packages, including a Pre-Cover Inspection Checklist covering the code items that cause the most rework
• Copper or aluminum conductor sizing, with the matching ampacity, EGC, and derating tables
• Every major wiring method — NM-B, UF-B, MC, EMT, IMC, RMC, PVC Schedule 40/80, FMC, LFMC, LFNC — with the correct fittings and support spacing for each
• All 50 states plus D.C. — full amendment layers for 39 states, and an honest, primary-sourced answer for every other jurisdiction
• Material overage built in — choose 0–20% and every list shows what's padding vs. what's load-bearing
• Photo documentation, job tickets, and clean PDF reports you can email straight from the job site
• Editable, field-added materials with a full planned-vs-used audit trail for the completion record

NOT A CHATBOT
OHMIE runs on a deterministic sizing engine, not a language model — the same inputs always produce the same code-correct answer. Every rule in the app is written and reviewed by a licensed master electrician, with plain-language explanations that lead and code citations that follow.

PRICING
Choose your plan when you first open the app: monthly or annual — each starting with a 30-day free trial — or a one-time lifetime unlock. Every plan is the full app with no feature limits and no restricted tier.

A NOTE ON CODE
OHMIE follows the National Electrical Code as the national standard. Local jurisdictions may amend it. Always verify against your local code and your Authority Having Jurisdiction before installation and inspection. OHMIE is reference guidance, not a substitute for professional judgment — final responsibility for code compliance and workmanship rests with the installing electrician.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.2 — 2026-08-25

Permits and job notes now ride along with the job, and both show up in the report your customer gets.

Any material line can carry the manufacturer, catalog number and supply house you actually buy from. OHMIE sizes the part, you name it, and your entry survives a re-size.

Check the whole breaker schedule on one screen before it turns into a material list: every line as you'd order it, the device count, and how many panel spaces you have left.

Switches are counted by location now, so two switches in a two-gang box is one box and one two-gang ring, not two of each.

Bigger jobs are covered. Conductors run to 750 kcmil and up to four parallel sets, conduit to 4 inches. Past what OHMIE carries it tells you what it would take, instead of quietly handing back its own largest size.

Also: plug-on neutral asked and printed on every breaker line that needs it, per-circuit labelling on multi-circuit lighting jobs, and a long list of sizing and code-citation fixes.

### 1.1 — 2026-08-15

NEW — SUBPANEL INSTALLATION (COMMERCIAL)

Size a commercial subpanel feeder end to end, developed with our master
electrician from a line-by-line review of the real workflow.

• Panel configuration up front — main lug only or main breaker, bolt-on or
plug-on — with every breaker matched to the mounting you choose.

• Raceway and conductor insulation as separate choices, so a spec calling for
  XHHW-2 in EMT is straightforward.

• EMT fittings and supports ordered the way you actually buy them: set-screw or
compression, steel or zinc die-cast, one-hole or two-hole straps, strut, or
Minerallac-style bolt-close clamps. Counts come from your run length and
terminations, and you split them across the products you picked.

• Junction and pull boxes sized on pulling geometry, with the entry-spacing
check that box dimensions alone don't prove.

• Conduit bodies that inherit the calculated raceway trade size and bring
  matching covers and gaskets.

• Branch-breaker schedules showing occupied and remaining panel spaces, with the
neutral bar and equipment grounding bar listed under the panelboard.

ALSO IN THIS RELEASE

• RMC added as a wiring method, and PVC now asks Schedule 40 or Schedule 80 —
each sized from its own fill table.

• Equipment grounding conductors sized per 250.122(B) when voltage drop
  increases the ungrounded conductors.

• Redeem offer and promo codes directly from the plans screen.

• Purchase flow and performance improvements.
