## What is Ohms Explain?

Ohms Explain answers questions about things you can see.

Point the camera, pick a photo, open an image file, or start with the bundled sample. Pick what kind of thing you are looking at, ask your question, and read the answer — computed on your device.

HOW IT WORKS

Every image is read on-device with Apple's Vision framework: text recognition, image classification, and barcode and QR decoding. On devices with Apple Intelligence (iOS 26 or later), Apple's on-device language model turns those detections into a written answer. That model is text-only and never receives your image. On earlier versions of iOS, or when Apple Intelligence is off, Ohms Explain reports exactly what it detected, including the measured text-recognition confidence — it does not invent a summary it cannot support.

• Errors & Screens — error messages and dialogs explained, with a first step to try.

CAPTURE ANYTHING

• Take a photo with the camera.
• Pick any image from your photo library.
• Open a PNG, JPEG, HEIC, or TIFF from Files.
• Or start with the bundled sample image — no permissions needed at all.

PRIVACY

No account. No analytics. No telemetry. No third-party SDKs. Images are analyzed in memory and never written to disk. Your history is plain text kept on your device, and you can delete any entry, or all of them, from inside the app.

BRING YOUR OWN KEY (OPTIONAL)

If you want a frontier model to look at an image, connect your own Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, OpenRouter, or GitHub Models key — or point it at an Ollama server on your own network. These are off by default, clearly labelled, and the only way an image ever leaves your device. Keys are stored in the Keychain. There is no markup and no middleman.
