Whether you are a recreational drone pilot or a fully-fledged professional, ok2fly™ is the drone safety tool you need for you next drone mission. ok2fly boasts the following functions:

This app is not accurate - you’re NOT allowed to fly drones in national parks in the NT, Aus, without a permit from the national park

It looks like the app has just generically covered any national park zone as a no fly area. In Queensland Australia most national parks are flyable.

This app is a one stop shop bringing together  a range of Australian aviation information and maps all updated constantly to assist with planning RPA operations. 

The CASA automated airspace approvals component is well designed for managing a large fleet of aircraft.

Commercial operators will appreciate the detail in the information!

Speaking to other drone operators they all have used this app including me and we all have the similar attitude regarding the cost as it is simply ten times more than what we would be willing to pay. Makes me think how many sales would have been lost. If I developed the app I’d rather have 20 sales at 24.99 rather than 1 sales at 249.00. If it had other features like some components that competitors have perhaps it might be worth the cost but it doesn’t so we still need many other apps. If you look at it from a ReOC holders perspective it would be great if there was one stop to get all the details for a job analysis.

All these drone apps are useless.  The majority of drones flying today are now sub 250g category.  The rules/laws are totally different for this class but not one single drone app reflects this.  Each developer blames CASA for not providing enough information when all they need to do is add a sub 250g category and associate it to the geo zones near controlled airports. It’s spreading misinformation which CASA is well known for.

Not setup for new Australia sub 250g category. 
Would be nice to include the national parks go no go information instead of a generic message. 
Otherwise working great on iPhone 12 pro max as of 2022 aug.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback. We are waiting on CASA for direction on this. To maintain our safety app approval we need to adhere to the requirements as specified by CASA. We've spoken to CASA about this as we have been asked by other pilots as well. When they advise we'll make the adjustments. Hopefully this won't be too far in the future.

There's only basic information about National Parks available, but always on the lookout for more data sources that we can use to build more detailed feedback.

You need to get real as to you cost for the subscription,per year as Ozrunways is far superior and offer extensive options at a lower price of $119.00 for what is required for Drone review , just a bit more $169 and you have just about the full OZ runways sweet, all you will have in OK2FLY is change to select ReOC or Repel selections to provide basic additional information, clearly you need to go with very small subscription or outright payment at best this would be a 25-35$ yearly subscriptions app.
Unfortunately apps store makes you include rating so reluctantly had to give 1 star

**Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback. We’d like to think the software is worth the $250 annual fee. You may not be aware, but the app includes the Airspace Authorisation functionality which greatly streamlines the approval process for drone pilots operating in airspace around controlled airports. To date and based on the number of approval requests processed by our software we estimate we have saved drone pilots upwards of $214,000 in CASA fees and countless weeks waiting for approval. We also provide the software free of charge to Recreational drone pilots.

Updates in 1.6.1 include the following:
1. Wind chart now includes a wind direction colour band for quick wind direction trend identification. The colour band represents the direction the wind is coming from over time. Colours follow a circular compass scale (North → East → South → West → North), so similar colours indicate similar wind directions, and smooth colour changes show gradual wind shifts. Sharper colour changes indicate more marked (less stable) changes in wind direction.
2. Changed Weather (WX) provider due to previous WX provider ceasing operations.

### 1.6.0 — 2026-01-23

New in this release of ok2fly:
1. CASA Micro User Category - You can now select the MICRO pilot type when flying sub 250gram RPA. The rules for MICRO RPA are different to other larger RPA and pilot types. You can fly your MICRO RPA in the area around controlled airports up to 150 feet without authorisation (does not included the arrival & departure SPLAYS).
2. Displays configuration and active overlay settings in map footer.
3. Added weather forecast in query details for day of flight (if available). Subscribed users also have the option to see a detailed 10-day weather forecast. The detailed weather forecast includes the daily temperature, winds, rainfall, visibility and weather data tabulation. Hourly weather charts also display timing of twilight, daylight and nighttime.
4. Subscribed users now have access to additional overlays. The new overlays include a Dynamic Grid (1000km to 1m), 3D Terrain, 3D Buildings and the ability to hide the active NOTAM layer. A Ground Level (street) powerlines overlay is now also available.
5. Subscribed users can now display hybrid aeronautical charts. The hybrid charts in crude the ERC Low and WAC/VNC/VTC.

Issues fixed in this release:
1. Lightning overlay has been updated to use new lightning data source.
2. Weather radar overlay now correctly dismisses when deactivated.

CASA Compliance:
Version 1.6.0 complies with the CASA operating rules version 4.1.

### 1.5.1 — 2024-10-17

Version 1.5.1 includes the following changes:
- Improved tracking of subscriptions across platforms
- App now displays app version and operating rules in the footer of each query
- App now displays a base set of overlays for recreational users (no subscription required to access these overlays)
- Updated message reminding users that subscriptions need to be cancel via the platform subscription provider.

### 1.5 — 2023-11-14

Version 1.5 contains a number of updates.

1. The mapping engine software was upgraded to the latest SDK version. This was quite a large change and as a result you may notice some slight differences in the way the map behaves. Overall though, the look and feel is almost identical to previous versions of ok2fly™.

2. The app and backend support functionality now support the extended CASA Airspace Authorisation trial. This includes the ability to automatically authorise flights in the Sydney harbour restricted area R405 and Sydney airport (YSSY) envelope. Although this is principally a data update the changes made will facilitate the rapid incorporation of future Airports and Restricted areas as they are included in the trial.

3. Users are now able to measure distances on the map using a 2-finger tap and hold gesture. When the user executes the two finger tap and hold on the map, a ruler (dashed line) will be displayed. The ruler will be labelled with the distance in either Metres, Kilometres, or Nautical Miles between the ends. While maintaining the 2-finger touch, the user can position the ruler ends as appropriate by moving 1 or both fingers. The ruler label will be updated in response to any change to the ruler ends. To remove the ruler simply tap on the map.

4. An additional overlay has been added. The ACMA communications data now has a corresponding overlay that displays the known location of communications infrastructure. Infrastructure may be cell towers and any other communications apparatus that may constitute a potential hazard for UAV. Information is displayed as Red or Blue dots where Red indicates a location accuracy of within 10 metres and Blue corresponds to Unknown accuracy. The ACMA data is updated daily. Note: The overlay will be activated a short period after the app has been released.

### 1.4 — 2023-05-29

Version 1.4 ok2fly incorporates a major change to way Flight Time is handled. In previous versions of ok2fly, Flight Time was based on the time specified or Current Time for the location and time zone of the device. When planning local flights this did not present a problem, but when planning flights across time zones (e.g., interstate) the start time would need to be adjusted to include the time offset relative to the device location and time zone. In some instances, this has created confusion around the actual start and end time of a flight.

To rectify and streamline the situation, the Flight Time is now based on the time at the flight location. Therefore, when a time is specified, the time will represent the equivalent time of day at the planned location of the flight. The app will display the calculated time zone against all times and inform the users if the time zone is different to the user current location.

For example, for a pilot currently located in Canberra planning a future flight in the Glenelg area of Adelaide, entering a Flight Time of 1630 signifies 1630 (ACST).
