*2026-01-23, version 4.7.5*

*2025-09-17, version 4.7.5*

### 4/5 — Vuelve a ser gratuita

*2025-07-17, version 4.7.5*

### 1/5 — $5/month too expensive

*2025-04-03, version 4.7.3*

There are other strategies for crossing streets that don’t incur a monthly fee. I might have paid a one time fee, but not every month or year, no thanks.

### 3/5 — Great until it wasn’t

*2025-04-01, version 4.7.3*

It was amazing a free app that let me cross streats safely. Oh wait an update comes and now instead of an optional donation to help the team make Oko. It’s not required to pay a subscription to use Oko. I think it’s cruel that we are now charging blind people to have the ability to cross the street safely. Oko I hope someone sues you for this

### 1/5 — its work in toronto, i bought it after 25 days its stop working.

### 1/5 — Una vergüenza

*2025-03-08, version 4.7.3*

*2025-03-05, version 4.7.3*

### 1/5 — Nope.

*2025-03-03, version 4.7.2*

I teach O&M to school-aged students, and I can no longer offer this app to them since they’d need to pay. Monthly. The app honestly did not work consistently even before the subscription model. Now, seeing other reviews that the app still does not work even after paying for it, it’s sad to realize the makers are just trying to get money from a community that wants to increase accessibility for crossing the dang street. Messed. Up.

### 1/5 — This was a potentially useful app until bloat and subscriptions came.

*2025-02-24*

This app was recommended to me in August 2024 by my white cane trainer from the Virginia Department for the blind and visually impaired. It seemed to provide a decent functionality for crosswalk walk/don’t walk signals. I never got to test it in the challenging lighting conditions that gave me problems. When I went to experiment with it to see if it could handle Austrian signals, I find that it has moved from being free to a SUBSCRIPTION model. If the developer needed to make moat for development. they could have done a flat purchase price. Instead they want to continually pick the pockets of blind and visually impaired people who already face much additional cost and inconvenience in life. Perhaps if the developers had stuck to the crosswalk capability, they wouldn’t be facing development costs for the additional bloat. The awards this app garner and many positive reviews came before their switch to SUBSCRIPTION and would not have been received with this model. Doubtless, based on other negative reviews, the developer will spend time and money on making a response, further increasing their “need” for a SUBSCRIPTION model.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Türkçe dil desteği

*2026-04-21, version 4.7.5*

### 1/5 — Have to pay

*2025-06-14, version 4.7.4*

Having to pay for something like this is absurd. I have no other words couldn't even use it. There is no free option at all you have to pay to cross the street safely.

### 1/5 — Disappointed in OKO’s new paywall.

*2025-06-12*

I’m DeafBlind and rely on tools to help me navigate safely. Last time I used OKO, it was free and helped me know when it was safe to cross the street. Today, I was at a busy intersection with no accessible pedestrian signal (no APS), and I didn’t have my glasses, so I couldn’t see the walk sign across the street.

I opened OKO, expecting it to work like before—but now it requires a paid subscription just to use the basic crossing-detection feature. On a busy street, that’s incredibly frustrating and even dangerous. This is supposed to be an accessibility app. Putting a critical safety feature behind a paywall feels wrong. I had to fall back on using my camera zoom just to try and see the signal.

Accessibility should never come with a price tag—especially when safety is on the line.

### 1/5 — Subscription

*2025-05-15, version 4.7.4*

Last year or two when I used this app it used to not give me subscription in order to use this app for pedestrian signal crossing and now it's requiring me to have a subscription in order to use this app and I really don't want a subscription in order to use this app as it's too expensive for me I would rather use this app without subscription.

### 1/5 — Now subscription model, even for trainers

*2025-05-14, version 4.7.4*

If there could be at least a free version for trainers like BlindSquare does, then maybe I can recommend this app. Since I no longer have functionality since it's no longer free, I won't be showing my clients.

### 1/5 — too much for so little...

*2025-05-14, version 4.7.4*

i have just updated the app and i got the otrageous surprise that an expensive subscription is need
i wish it breaks bankrupt

### 1/5 — Suscripción

*2025-05-10, version 4.7.4*

¿Primero gratuita y ahora piden suscripción? Nope, thanks.

### 1/5 — Scam

*2025-04-27, version 4.7.3*

They changed to subscription based pricing

### 1/5 — KI-Navigation

*2025-04-17, version 4.7.3*

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — I use this app every day and for me it’s essential.

*2026-06-19, version 4.7.5*

As a blind person, it gives me a huge sense of safety at crossings where there are no audible signals. It works really well detecting the actual state of pedestrian lights in real time, even in complex environments. Thank you for the work behind this.

I’d like to share a suggestion that I believe could be the next big step: integration with smart glasses like Ray-Ban Meta. Today, some accessibility apps already use the glasses’ camera through Meta’s SDK (for example, for scene description), enabling a fully hands-free experience.

In my case, with a guide dog and often carrying bags or a backpack, taking my phone out at a crossing is not always practical. With glasses, the camera is naturally aligned with the head, making orientation much more intuitive. Being able to launch the app by voice (for example, “Hey Meta”) and receive real-time feedback about the traffic light would be a major improvement in both usability and safety.

I understand this would likely involve integrating with Meta’s SDK/APIs for camera access, possibly combined with recent iOS capabilities for external video input.

If you’re interested in exploring this use case, I’d be more than happy to share my real-world experience to help validate it.

### 5/5 — App muy buena

*2025-08-07, version 4.7.5*

### 5/5 — Aplikacja super!!!

Thank you very very much for bringing it back for free Sincerely, Ulises a proud Oko user and customer

### 5/5 — OKO review it is a great

*2025-07-17, version 4.7.5*

OK hults to know when the lights have changed it is a great app

### 5/5 — I DON’T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT IT!

*2025-04-19*

THIS APP WILL SAVE LIVES! I use moved to a large city for the first time in my life. With this app,, I can cross streets confidently even though blind. I can pair it with my hearing aids, but I want people to hear it so they don’t try to take me by the arm to “help” me! I still have to rely on hearing for places that don’t have crossing signals, but everywhere I go pretty much has them if there is a lot of traffic. I would be afraid to cross without this app! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

### 5/5 — Good morning, Oko developer my name is Ulises Gomez I totally love the application.
