### 4/5 — My favorite app but young

*2023-08-30*

Got tired of goodreads and feeding into the amazon conglomerate of data and wanted a better alternative. Found Oku and was immediately blown away by the simple effective UI. Been obsessed with it ever sense, but I do recognize its flaws.

Mainly
1. Bad search function - best if you use the book isbn, but authors/ titles are more difficult.

2. Lack of covers - I’ve submitted information including book covers, descriptions and authors for books that had no content and the app told me I would get an email when the information was approved and that has never happened during my months of usage.

3. No consistent updates - while I understand this is not the creators main focus, I think this app is phenomenal and could grow quickly if they were fully focused in it. While I havent had any issues with the app, I fear that if I would, it wouldn’t be fixed for a long time.

Overall though, I think this exactly fits the criteria for the next best book tracking app and can’t wait for it to blow up

### 5/5 — do it.

*2023-07-11*

if you’re looking for a sign to switch from goodreads... this is your sign! switch to oku. this is the sleek, aesthetic, no frills platform you’re looking for

### 4/5 — Moving in the right direction

*2023-01-03, version 1.1*

Started using as a Goodreads alternative. Love it but am having several problems:

1. I can't recommend or not recommend books when I tap review, only write the review.

2. Covers for many books are missing.

3. As another reviewer said, the search feature can be finicky.

4. UI glitches occasionally.

I hope this continues to be updated and fixed. We need a non Amazon reading platform really bad lol

### 3/5 — Average

*2022-05-06, version 1.0*

I’ve used quite a couple of book tracking apps from GoodReads to StoryGraph. I decided to try out Oku for a change. The overall design of this app is nice. However, some books aren’t logged in correctly despite being on the database. I’ll search up a book and have no results. But when I search up “[Book Title] oku” in Google, it pops up. Very annoying problem, please fix.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback, we totally feel your pain. I’ve spent the last couple weeks improving search results with some success, it’s getting better but there’s still more to do! Watch this space. 🙂

### 5/5 — The best app for keeping track of books!!

*2022-04-11, version 1.0*

I’ve been using Oku for a ~year now and I can’t imagine my life without it anymore. It’s so easy to maintain lists of books you read/reading/want to read. The highlights feature is super neat and I love the toned down social aspect of the app. And, of course, the beautiful design. It’s just so aesthetically pleasing <3
