### 5/5 — The Best Old English Language Reference App on the AppStore!

*2025-09-24, version 2.0.0*

I love how easy it is to look up and pinpoint Old English words for use in my translations, and always enjoy seeing the new word of the day. The user interface is absolutely beautiful, and I love the Anglo-Saxon inspired Germanic art style and colour choice along with the gold leaf effect that shines and shimmers around the borders of the UI. Love it!

### 5/5 — This is an excellent app

*2025-09-15, version 2.0.0*

I have enjoyed this app for about 18 months now and it is one of the few apps on my phone that I use on a daily basis. My educational background as both a student and a retired teacher has largely focused on English and the historical development of the language. This app has been a complete delight to use.

### 5/5 — This Wonderful Language of Ours

*2025-09-07, version 2.0.0*

Easy daily access to that culture that people are so unaware of yet they use it every single day. And easy access to the images that filled their minds. Copy one and when you work at it to get it right then you SEE the skills they had in simply observing and recording….and then how they were prepared to create their language and push its boundaries expressing their ideas and their imaginations. This website drops a word-jewel in front of me every day. It is a pure joy

### 5/5 — Top-style app for sure

*2025-08-08*

This is the most upper-style app I have ever gotten my fingers and joints around. Mad-style Hogtober

### 5/5 — A delight

Love guessing the word meaning each day and overall just a really well-done app in design and ease of use. The ability to hoard is extra fun!

### 5/5 — It does what it ought do

*2025-05-28, version 2.0.0*

It’s fun and nice. If they could change anything, I’d love to see inflection charts come to the app, but it works without them.

### 5/5 — I may be biased but…

*2025-05-27, version 2.0.0*

Ryan made a pretty wundorlic app to share my lufu of englisc across middangeard. I hope many users will enjoy adding to their own Wordhords.

### 5/5 — Entertaining daily word trivia

*2024-11-25, version 1.4.1*

I installed this app on a whim when I was looking into Anglo-Saxon words, trying to take a peek at Beowulf, etc. I installed the widget for this app and see the word of the day every day and have been enjoying this app for well over a year now. Highly entertaining bite size chunks daily.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 3/5 — Very Cool

*2026-03-22, version 2.0.0*

I love this app and have 3 widgets of it, all telling different things, only thing Id like to make it a 5 star is a search bar. Looking for specific words is impossible in this app, and or a build in translator 🤍

### 3/5 — Phonetics

*2025-10-28, version 2.0.0*

Would get five stars but the ai voice.

### 4/5 — Wish there were sentence examples

*2025-06-04, version 2.0.0*

I wish there were examples of how the word might be used in a sentence. So we might understand the grammatically appropriate usage. Preferably both used in a sentence composed entirely in Old English and a sentence showing how these words might be used in conjunction with modern English.

### 5/5 — Top-style app for sure

This is the most upper-style app I have ever gotten my fingers and joints around. Mad-style Hogtober

### 5/5 — there should be more apps like this

*2026-03-10, version 2.0.0*

this scratches a very particular itch in my brain to have semi-gamelike apps on my phone without them really being games. bonus points because i love learning fun things and history, so this is awesome :) lovely aesthetics and the attention to detail in the UI makes it just so fun!! 100/10 app, please continue to make awesome stuff!!! ive been looking for an app that just acts as a modern day wordhord, just to keep track of words id like to sprinkle into my own writing than arent in old english (as much as i would love to be able to write in it!), and i feel like the developers of this app are the only ones that could do the concept justice 🐉⚔️

### 5/5 — Best Old English App:

*2026-02-22, version 2.0.0*

This is the best Old English app I have ever used. It is very useful for studying the language, and is even better with all the pictures for the words and the Medieval style of the app.

### 5/5 — Wow how far we've acum.

*2026-01-17, version 2.0.0*

Feel’s visceral repeating these sounds the tongue gets so involved.
