### 3/5 — Please update the app!

*2021-09-11, version 1.0.17*

Great app and I use it daily, but keeps crashing and glitching out. Also interface takes way to long! Hkc have fantastic service and their equipment is brilliant but the app is crying out for an update!

### 3/5 — Good but could be improved

*2020-11-06, version 1.0.15*

The app works and is simple to use but just a little basic for a geek like myself.

It would be great to leverage the Shortcuts app with Siri to allow phrases such as “Hey Siri, secure the house” as I’m getting into the car or using HomeKit automations so when I’m away from home (location based services) it turns the alarm system on automatically.

Also, faceID/touchID would be beneficial to bypass passcodes.

### 3/5 — Part Set

*2020-09-09, version 1.0.15*

The app looks out dated, needs to be freshened up, also find if I part set A, I am unable to part set B as you are stuck with the main screen telling you about part set A is armed, should be some way to the dashboard so can quickly set apart B, then all that’s needed is to show what parts are armed at bottom on the dashboard

### 3/5 — Under developed with too many bugs

*2020-02-20, version 1.0.14*

Most have been mentioned already. I slso get error messages with the keyboard overlaying the OK button to acknowledge which means the app is effectively frozen. Questionable whether its worth the money.

### 3/5 — Fine but dated

*2020-02-20*

Needs IFTTT integration, like yesterday

### 3/5 — Simple to use

*2018-03-02, version 1.0.10*

The app is a bit basic but provides a simple way to arm and disarm the alarm system remotely. There are also quick options for part setting the system and remote access to other functions via the alarm keypad. The main downside is that the app/ SecureComm can take a long time to flag that the connection to the alarm has been lost e.g. broadband has gone down, leaving you exposed.

### 3/5 — Connectivity loss

*2018-02-19, version 1.0.10*

It’s generally ok BUT we seem to have repeated problems with connection errors most times stating that the system has had LAN Link Fault ! Come on guys I’m paying a monthly retainer and it ain’t working perfect ! Get it sorted

### 3/5 — ISO update

*2014-09-19, version 1.0.0*

This app was working fine on my iPhone 4s until I did an software update, now it don't work.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — CAUTION

*2021-06-21, version 1.0.15*

If, like most people, you put your phone on silent when asleep, and the house is broken into whilst you are away, YOU WILL NOT HEAR ANY NOTIFICATION and warning as the phone is in do not disturb and/or silent mode.

This rather defeats one of the main objectives of the app and needs fixing.

### 1/5 — Charge you for the app and a subscription

*2021-02-10, version 1.0.15*

This company not only charge you almost £8 to download their app - they then charge a monthly fee for notifications - I have just been billed by my security company for notifications fees to tell me when the alarm is armed or disarmed / set off and they said it’s a charge from HKC they are passing on

Total rip off avoid HKC products

### 1/5 — Please improve!

*2019-06-16, version 1.0.12*

Inconsistent, unreliable and not a great app. Does not work/connect more times than it does. It’s a surprise when the app works!

### 1/5 — Outdated non functioning app

*2019-04-09, version 1.0.12*

Well unlike the rest of the reviewers all being HKC Employees giving great reviews I’m a monthly paying customer.

The App takes ages to set and unset this occurs when connected both ends to Lighting fast broadband and 4G so it’s the App that’s at fault not the connection.

Seems HKC don’t really care they take £6.99 plus the monthly fee on top for an app that I could have created in 5 minutes.

Doesn’t notify on Arm and Unarm, now warning notifications on full alarm going off come on HKC get your act together.

### 1/5 — Consistent Poor Connectivity

*2018-10-11, version 1.0.11*

App is good. However continuous issues with logging in means you can use it.

Poor really

### 2/5 — Basic functionality

*2020-12-01, version 1.0.15*

The app works but is very very basic the interface needs an urgent upgrade and refresh to bring it to the times. The app also needs to integrate to home automation apple homekit,Alexa, hive, ANYTHING would be a step up. Touch authentication or face recognition would be a step up.

### 2/5 — Bare minimum

*2019-11-29, version 1.0.13*

It’s basic but functional. Looks old fashioned and very tired. Has none of the modern iOS features like fwce recognition or system integration. I seem to have to put in my four digit pin every time which is pretty boring

Could be so much better with a refresh and some modernisation.

### 2/5 — Latest version crashes

*2016-10-04, version 1.0.7*

This app is usually very good. However the latest version crashes. I have a 6 digit passcode on our alarm system, when I enter the code the app crashes on the 5th digit.
The older version didn't do this, this also happens on both my iPhone 6 and iPhone 5s both running iOS 10.0.2. Both phones have been rebooted multiple times. A quick fix would be appreciated.

### 2/5 — Good idea but not reliable

*2016-05-25, version 1.0.6*

We purchased the app to control the alarm rather than having to use the alarm panel.

The app can be slow to connect and set/unset.

The biggest issue is when the alarm goes off the app becomes unavailable and can't be used to unset the alarm. This to me is ridiculous as we should be able to control the alarm form the app even when the alarm is sounding.

In addition there is no support function from HKC. The app takes you through to the website but does not give support.

### 3/5 — Apple Watch

*2022-06-18, version 1.0.20*

As others say, app is ok but a little basic. Would like it to set using Siri. But mainly would like it to work from my Apple Watch. App not yet compatible.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Hkc.

*2022-02-08, version 1.0.17*

Been an alarm engineer for 43years. I can honestly say that HKC are by far the most stable app and system out there. The SecureCom app is great for servicing servicing and flash upgrading from my phone. 10/10.

### 5/5 — The Best

*2021-02-27, version 1.0.15*

I am the owner of a security company and we have used many different makes of intruder alarms and their apps. HKC has to be by far the most reliable alarm and app that we have used to date. Five stars from us at NSWUK.

### 5/5 — Best alarm app available

*2019-09-16, version 1.0.13*

Simple to use, nicely designed with no unnecessary complicated buttons.
I’ve found this app to be extremely reliable and it’s packed with a lot of features if you speak with an installer who knows the system well.

### 5/5 — Best we’ve used

*2018-10-22, version 1.0.12*

The HKC app may not look as slick as some of those available from other manufacturers, but it works each and every time.
We’re a professional installer and have tried many of the apps available from other leading manufacturers.
SecureComm is the only we’ve come across that works every time. No crashing of the app when you need it, no loosing WiFi and needing a reboot.
I’m sure we’ll see some updates in the future, but for me having something that works without any hassle is a must.
Highly recommended.
The CCTV integration with HikVision DVRs / NVRs works well too.

### 5/5 — Excellent Application

*2015-05-21, version 1.0.2*

Very well put together and easy to use.

When connected via wifi, 3G or 4G the virtual keypad works as if you are on site.

### 4/5 — Time for an upgrade?

*2021-06-12, version 1.0.15*

The app is simple enough to use, and does what needs doing. However the UI does feel a little clunky in places. But my biggest ask would be for Face ID or fingerprint ID. I’d give 5⭐️for that

### 4/5 — Please update

*2021-04-08, version 1.0.15*

Good App. Please update it to give CRITICAL ALERTS so that I don’t miss notifications in do not disturb mode.

### 4/5 — Great but please fix this bug

*2018-10-27, version 1.0.12*

App is great and we use it daily, but please could you fix the following bug: When arming a panel which is connected via a GSM chip, the arming process takes 10-15 seconds to be actioned and confirmed in the app, even though you can hear the panel speaker announcing “System arming” within 1-2 seconds. If you press the home button during the 10-15 second arming/confirmation period, then return to the app, it either crashes or reports and error message. The desired behaviour would be for the app to continue the arming and confirmation process in the background if you press the home hitting (or switch apps) during this time, and not crash when you return to the app. Many thanks.

### 4/5 — Function over Form

*2018-02-13, version 1.0.9*

Works well, very responsive and does what it says on the tin, can’t complain about that. It does look and feel very very dated though. Worth investment in the user interface as well as new features, keeping pace with new devices and the rapid evolution of Apps generally.

### 4/5 — Great app but would benefit from....

*2018-01-16, version 1.0.9*

This is an awesome app, very easy to use, communicates instantly with my house alarm, it even starts the alarm going on my phone before the house alarm sounds! BUT.... could you please add the function in for it to override silent mode on my iPhone like the Apple alarm clock does - I leave my phone on silent, this app needs the phone volume to be on otherwise it won't make a sound, please add this feature. 👍🏻
