The Old House Journal app offers old-house enthusiasts practical hands-on advice for restoration and renovation. Like the print magazine, the Old House Journal digital edition helps homeowners repair, restore, update, and decorate houses 1700–1960, of all architectural styles. Every issue includes useful how-to articles, beautiful photography, hands-on techniques, design guidance, and reader stories. The Old House Journal app contains digital editions of the current issues, as well as an extensive archive of back issues (sold separately).

Payment will be charged to iTunes Account at confirmation of purchase. Subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period. Account will be charged $16.99 for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period. Subscriptions may be managed by the user and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to the user's Account Settings after purchase. I live in Australia and we don’t have as much refurbishing as I would like to see. Reading this journal helps me think of the possibilities for my place. And I know if I can’t get something in Australia I can get it in the US or Europe. Thanks for the help.

So this year you don’t even provide a link to purchase a subscription renewal when I try to give you money. Do you even test your programming? 2019 app development fail...
At least you are consistent at being unusable year after year

the last time your app updated it took 4 months and countless emails, posts and stalking to get my subscription to work and here we go again. Fire your developers cause they have failed you and you are failing me. Back to paper

There have been long term issues with this app which I’m hoping will NOT push this app to join Magster, a truly awful digital management system.  This app consistently requires me to repurchase issues I already own, then says, “You already own this issue.  Would you like to receive it again for free?”  That is a minor annoyance.  Lately it allows me to purchase issues but not read them. It keeps throwing me out.  That is much more serious.  Please repair this. 
PS. Thank you for keeping old issues available for purchase, something Magster would limit.

Add me to the growing list of dissatisfied customers, for all of the reasons mentioned by the other reviewers who came before me. I received the same customer "service" myself(after trying dozens of times to restore my purchases):

1. First, OHJ ignores my initial email.

2. After some more haranguing on my part, OHJ replies back by passing the buck off to Apple/iTunes.

3.  I then contact customer support at Apple, wherein I am informed that this is an OHJ in-house problem, and I need to contact OHJ again.

4. And, here we are. I'm out 17 bucks and my subscription doesn't expire for another 8 months.

I have been a long-time subscriber to the print edition of OHJ and have always been very satisfied with the response of their customer service team. I'm not renewing this subscription.

I have subscribed to Old House Journal for at least the last 3-4 years through this app. Since the upgrade I have lost my prior purchases and  back issues I purchased separately. As others have stated poor customer support. Why is it my responsibility to PROVE that I previously purchased subscriptions when your "upgrade" has prevented me from obtaining access to my subscription?

I had enjoyed OHJ and been reading it on my iPad for several years. Occasionally there were download/sync problems but they always cleared up in a few days with no hassle. This Mar 2017 however, it stopped working altogether. I could neither download new issues or read old ones. I sent emails through the app and directly providing requested information (my name, address, Apple receipt, etc.) all to no avail. It was the same old arc: first a do-not-reply, then a request for information, then a request for screen shots from an actual customer service rep, then a request for Apple receipt and finally back to do-not-reply. This went on for 3 months from March thru May 2017. Since them I'm being "sent to the appropriate department for review". Guess I didn't pass review. Oh, and in March, I had 9 paid months left on my subscription.

Since they updated this app, I have lost all access to my previous magazines or any new ones.  Restore does not work.  Emailed Developer and no response.  Spoke to iTunes and they cannot help since they did not develop app.  Very Upset!
