Olidou is designed to help you settle your child at bedtime by telling the classic tales in a calm, slow voice. The pictures and the settings are simple by design. The words appear on screen to gently accustom your child, little by little, to matching the sounds of the voice with the text. You can pause at any time to explain a word or an expression. Children love repetition, so don't hesitate to replay the same stories. The music is peaceful and imaginative. It's just what's needed to drift softly into dreams. We have softened the violence in some tales, because we feel that, sadly, others are all too eager to spread it. Little Red Riding Hood will not be eaten as she is in Charles Perrault's original. You won't see the woodcutter kill the wolf as in the Brothers Grimm version. He will chase it away instead. Not every Olidou story is a retelling. “The Fridge”, "The Staircase" and "The Paintbrush" are original stories by François Reeves, written for this app to stimulate imagination. Children always dream big. Sunday afternoon, a mountain of fruit so tall you could see it from the ceiling down to the table. Then Mathilde opens the egg box: one hole, two holes, six holes, not a single egg. A very ripe banana nobody felt like eating is about to prove that ingredients will agree to become something else, all together. Filou sniffs a cherry, sneezes, and waits for something worth eating to fall from the kitchen table. The cake that comes out of the oven is smaller than the one Mathilde pictured, and a little crooked. She thinks it might be better that way, it certainly tastes good. A new original Olidou story for Premium subscribers, read aloud in English, French and Spanish. ### 1.4 — 2026-08-12 Meet Martin and his magic paintbrush. A little yellow bird lands on the windowsill, drops a paintbrush, and flies away. Everything Martin paints comes to life — a fire truck with a very loud siren, a funny one-eyed fish, a pizza with chocolate chips — and every solution paints a bigger problem. Our longest story yet. Mathilde is back too. In her big wooden house, the old maple staircase knows how to count — it must have learned at the school for trees, long before it became planks full of knots. Every night it counts Mathilde all the way up to bed, while Filou listens from below, who knows the count by heart. Two original Olidou stories for Premium subscribers, each read aloud in English, French and Spanish. ### 1.3 — 2026-08-10 Meet Mathilde and Filou. A small girl, her scruffy dog, and a big white fridge that keeps every good thing in the kitchen behind a door she is too small to open. It is an original Olidou story, written for this app, and the first of several focusing on events or things around the house. Olidou also speaks your language throughout now. Choose English, French or Spanish in Settings and the whole app follows — not only the stories, but every word on screen. And illustrations have been corrected on iPhone, where taller characters could appear too large for the page. ### 1.2 — 2026-08-03 Pinocchio has arrived. The wooden puppet who wanted to be a real boy, retold gently for young children — with Collodi's great fish as an ancient, sleepy giant rather than a monster. As always there are two tellings: a short one for a tired evening, and the full bedtime-length story. Olidou is now on iPhone. Turn the phone sideways and the story opens like a book on a lap, picture on one side, words on the other. Also in this update: • The story keeps playing when the screen locks, with play, pause and skip from the lock screen. • Small hands no longer stop the story by accident — the controls fade away while it plays and come back at a tap. • The closing music now fades out gently instead of stopping. ### 1.1 — 2026-07-31 Puss in Boots is now available in its full bedtime-length telling.
