You try to read an article and it continues to minimize. Started to access through a browser. Have no issues that way. So over this app. ### 4/5 — Omaha World Herald *2025-03-14, version 9.15.1* Enjoy reading the entire daily newspaper online. The printed version was too expensive and the price varied every time I renewed. The only downside to the app is that it frequently requires re-logging in, even though still logged into the app. ### 2/5 — Great when it works *2024-09-12, version 9.13.2* I'm constantly having to delete and reinstall the app because it doesn't recognize my account as being a subscriber. Always works when I reinstall, then randomly stops working again. ### 2/5 — Great app - poor notification system *2024-08-30, version 9.13.2* Content is great but the push notifications reset to “off” after each update. And when you click on a notification, you get a paywall notification (doesn’t recognize your logged in). But if you click on home and select the article, it takes you right in. This bug has been consistent for at least 12 months and it would be nice if it was addressed. Plus, lack of notifications reaching users = fewer clicks = less advertising $. ### 2/5 — Constantly having to log out and back in *2022-10-08, version 8.13.5* If you love logging in and out of apps you’ll love this one. While you’re logged into the app, if you want to read anything beyond the headline, the app makes you sign in. But you’re already signed in, so it won’t work. So then you have to log out, then log back on. It’s ridiculous. ### 1/5 — Horrible app *2022-08-06, version 8.13.5* Content disappears when you scroll. Real estate listings included with news. Feedback goes to a BHMedia email address. The World-Herald is owned by Lee Enterprises. Berkshire Hathaway hasn’t owned the WH for years. Of course, no response to feedback. ### 1/5 — New updates terrible *2022-05-16, version 8.13.5* Update 5/15/21: Pop up ads continue, but worse with annoying videos. App keeps you logged in until you want to read an article then must log out and back in before you can read it. It will give you a pop up to login but not anywhere to put information in. Must go back to app, logout then back in. Sooooo annoying. Update 9/12/21: It gets worse…now pop up ads as soon as you open the app. I’m a paying subscriber, this should not be happening. It’s also super annoying that the app keeps asking me to log in instead of keeping me logged in Hard to figure out where to find all the news articles. Finally figured out you had to go a news article to get to the menu with more options. The old layout was much better to see categories. Now I’m trying to read articles only to get the pictures but not the story. Tried copying a link to open in a browser and it’s the wrong article done this several times with different articles. Also tried to favorite the articles but again wrong ones were then listed. And it’s bad enough that the app can’t keep a subscriber logged in. Go back to the previous version. And beta test before pushing out updates!! ### 1/5 — Ad opener *2022-04-21, version 8.13.5* Having to watch an annoying video every time I open the app leads to this one star rating. I wouldn’t pay a dollar a month for this app! ### 1/5 — Vulgar, violent, intrusive ads- even for subscribers *2022-01-26, version 8.11* 30 second ads at startup and now randomly that occur while using the app that make it impossible to do anything but wait it out. This is terrible enough but some of the ads are both violent (an ad for game apps where people are mass shooting zombies) and racy. Again this occurs even if you are a paid subscriber. I absolutely thought OWH and BHM had better standards than this. ### 1/5 — Horrible app for a news org *2022-01-15, version 8.11* Opened with an ad for a game that I had to watch for about 10 seconds. The web site, while not great, is better than this annoying experience. It’s still much easier to read the news on paper because annoying ads don’t pop up when you’re trying to read a news article. It would be nice to have a better online news experience. It can be done; look at the Washington Post. ### 1/5 — Spam ads can’t finish an article at times $ *2022-01-14, version 8.11* I’m paying to use the app and service. Why so many ads??? Getting into the app can be a pain with long long ads you can never get past. So you have to close the app and try again. And sometimes try again and try again just to open! Then It disconnects you from the article for an ad and then requires you to scroll back to your place. The Zac Taylor article it kicked me 4x. So annoying. So annoying. Worst app of all time. And stupid me is Paying for the content. ### 1/5 — So so so so many ads… *2022-01-08, version 8.11* There is not a single good reason to use this app. Even their horrible mobile web experience is better than this abomination. Absolutely flooded with ads from the very start (a video ad on opening? Is this candy crush or a news organization?!). No ability to see any of the discussions from the paper’s website. Crashes regularly, likely from all those third party ad scripts running everywhere. Did I mention the ads? Every time I use this it serves as a reminder to cancel my subscription renewal… ### 1/5 — A Trip to the Dentist! Yay! *2021-12-04, version 8.11* Do you like a trip to the dentist without Novocain? An IRS audit? Going to the DMV? If you said yes to all three then this is the app for you! This app is horrible. Bugs, shut downs, click tricks are everywhere. Even worse, this is no longer a legitimate news organization. They fired most of the experienced journalists and outsourced their news. The few local journalists (sic) they employ seemingly write their news based on Snapchat or Instagram sources. And we wonder how news organizations are dying. One exception: the local sportswriters are great. It is very difficult to find the front page stories or the other features stories in the app. The only way to see the front page stories is to view the electronic version of the paper. The front page story should be the featured story on the app. ### 1/5 — Awful layout and ad ridden *2023-04-18, version 9.3.1* Really disappointed with the OWH app. The formatting is awful and the layout is not user friendly. It’s difficult to search for specific articles and as a paying subscriber to the World Herald, I find it surprising that there are so many advertisements still littered throughout the app. Makes for a frustrating user experience. ### 1/5 — Worthless app *2023-03-15, version 9.1.4* Links don’t work. Yep. ### 1/5 — App will not open. *2023-01-04, version 9.1.2* This app will not open on apple. ??? ### 1/5 — more popup’s than website, reporting truly terrible *2022-12-29, version 9.1.2* this app has more interstitial ads and popups than any website ever did, even in the 90s. it also forgets your sign-in information constantly when the mobile website remembers it. as far as the paper goes, the writing has really gone downhill in the past three years. unsubscribing since a combination of other local outlets do everything better. check out nebraska examiner, silicon prairie news, grow omaha, and huskermax. ### 1/5 — Limited content increasingly difficult to access *2022-12-18, version 9.1.2* The app is a perfect mirror of the deterioration of the OWH. Decreasing amount of content, lost in the grid of ads and curated AP stories and click bait. If there was any legit local daily news source, this subscription would be cancelled immediately. After graduating from the U of N decades ago, I came to realize that I both needed and wanted to keep up with what’s happening in Lincoln and in Nebraska generally and especially with the Husker men’s and women’s sports teams. The online OWH keeps me very well informed. I still feel very much a Husker and a Nebraskan even though I’ve lived either on the east coast or west coast since my graduation from college. There is no place like Nebraska. Go Big Red! Thank you OWH! I’m a snow bird & don’t need it. I saw an offer for 3 months at $1.00 . That’s worth it to me. Tried to sign up & pay. Kept saying error. I gave up. Called subscription department to say take us off suspension & just stop cancel us. 4 days later got a call i couldn’t take. Week later an apple- world hearld charge appears from Apple for $27.81. It’s was not authorized, approved or requested. They just decided to steel my money, if they could. Steel might be strong but without attention, it’s the same thing. I feel sorry for OMH. Dying industry. There technology & customer service will aid in their demise. Call them & easily resolve the issue. Forget it. If you aren’t subscribed please consider supporting them. My one suggestion for the app would be to allow people to select which topics they would like to receive push notifications for. That would let me keep getting the important notifications I care about and skip the stuff I don’t care about. Subscribe so Omaha has a mechanism to pay people to research news. As a past subject...they didn’t let me get away with much, asked hard questions and did, in fact, report in as unbiased a way as is humanly possible. ### 5/5 — I love getting the digital paper. *2018-10-23* I subscribed to the sports articles only, but as I read all the articles with my free one week subscription to the entire paper, I realized I enjoyed having the entire paper.
