## What is Omer Counter?

This app will help you count the Omer from Passover to Shavuot by keeping track of the count and giving you the blessing and the Hebrew for each day's count. For each day of the Omer, it will also show you which quality was connected by the Kabbalists with that day, and it will give you a quote related to that quality, along with links to find out more about counting and what it means. It will also help you count the seven weeks from Tisha B'Av to Rosh Hashanah.

What is the Omer? Exactly seven weeks fall between Passover and Shavuot, marking the transition from the redemption in Egypt to the revelation at Sinai. This period is called the Omer, and it also corresponds to the time between the barley harvest and the wheat harvest in ancient Israel. (An omer is a measure of grain, like a bushel.) Each night during the 49 days of this seven week period, the count of the days is recited with a blessing--this ritual is called "Sefirat HaOmer." In Kabbalah (Jewish mysticism), each of the 49 days also corresponds with the purification of a specific quality within ourselves that connects to the divine. These qualities are called "Sefirot," and remembering which qualities correspond to each day has been part of the ritual of counting the Omer since the Middle Ages. The app keeps track of the days and the Sefirot and also includes quotes and intentions for each day. There is also a modern custom, based on the Sefirot and counting the Omer, to similarly count the days from Tisha B'Av to Rosh Hashanah.

### 5/5 — Best Omer Counter

*2026-04-27, version 3.8*

Best Omer counter I have ever used! I especially love all the live links you can explore for deeper dives. Thanks to Rebs David for this amazing way to engage with this important practice!

### 5/5 — Simple and functional

*2026-04-07, version 3.8*

I tried a few Omer apps and this was my favorite.

### 3/5 — Pretty minimal

*2026-04-03, version 3.8*

This app seems to be designed for more secular folks and non-Jewish people who find meaning for themselves in the Omer counting.

### 5/5 — My Omer companion for many years now

*2026-03-31, version 3.7*

I have happily used this app for many years of counting the omer. I have appreciated the annual updates and the links for going deeper. Thank you.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2025-05-31, version 3.7*

Revised revised review: I have now discovered another nice thing about the app — the developer’s quick and helpful responses when I haven’t been able to find my way through all the goodies the app offers. Thank you!

I really love this app. My big wish is: I would love to be able to go back to the resources and ideas in the Quotes from earlier days! There is sooo much here, I wish I could figure out where earlier quotes had led!

I tried using this app in a previous version but found it too hard to use. No longer! It did honestly take me a couple of days to find all the resources in the app, but now I am looking forward each evening to a wonderful close to the day and opening to peace and spiritual awakening

**Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback. We’re glad you are enjoying the app.

For your big wish, this can be done for the current year, and we are working on a feature to get quotes from previous years. For now, if you want to go to an earlier date, you can use the calendar button (next to the gear, then select the date and press “set” on the bottom) to get quotes from this year’s count. If you marked that you counted, then there should be a button with the beginning of the quote that you can click. If not, then the button will only be on the count page. Click it to get to the quote.

There are instructions for all of the features when you press the info button. Perhaps we’ll add a walkthrough feature for a future version.

### 2/5 — Asking for Gaza aid

*2025-05-20, version 3.7*

I liked you until you asked for donations for Gaza. I switched apps. But thank you for showing us who you truly support. Am Israel chai!

### 3/5 — Nice info, poor app design

*2025-05-08, version 3.7*

The text isn’t properly formatted to fit on the screen and changing settings of my device doesn’t adjust anything. The location setting is missing, although the app instructs you to turn it on if you want GPS timing.

### 1/5 — Keep politics out of a Jewish prayer app

*2025-04-18, version 3.7*

Deleting this app and will return to a siddur to track the Omer. Shame on the developer for inserting prayers for an illegal alien deportee (allegedly a gang member and wife beater) — into the app — Day 5. Clearly, the developer has no sense of decency or propriety. Disgusting!

### 5/5 — Great app!
