The last message I’ve seen indicated it was in early beta but that was a year ago. Is there any update? ### 3/5 — Not ready for prime time *2023-07-21, version 1.30.125* I was looking for an app to help me navigate the coast to coast using GPX files. OMN was recommended and I took out a trial. The short version is that when it works, the app is fine (if clunky and far from intuitive). However my experience over the past month has been that the app is actually pretty unstable, often drops my imported route, restarts often after frequent crashes, and once dropped all my maps — when I was stuck on a route with very low connectivity. For all these reasons I would say proceed with caution. I appreciated the responsive support, but would appreciate even more not having to seek it out. Specific points: - complex user interface without onboarding / tips etc. Expected to just figure it out. - no way to import GPX files on iOS, requiring a desktop install and clunky (manual) sync between devices - once I start following an imported route, I’d expect the app to re-open on it. Instead it drops the route, forcing me to re-open the GPX, and reset my location and styles etc - I bought an annual subscription which included a seven day trial. I was mid way on my hike when the trial expired, and even tho I had paid and would expect the trial to just continue, the app locked me out and dropped my maps (I could still see the route, but no maps). I didn’t have connectivity so this was a major issue. - I had downloaded all the maps in advance, but on occasions the app would drop tiles or crash - I was running the app mainly in airline mode with low battery mode turned on ### 3/5 — Great app with one flaw *2023-02-10, version 1.30.125* I’m resending this review because the issue is still unresolved. Am I really the only user who wants to listen to music while using OMN maps?? I love this app for all my outdoor activities but every time I use it whilst playing music the music stops! I have asked for this to be fixed for several years and though they say they intend to do it nothing changes… No other map I have has this problem so why does this one? PLEASE sort it out! Thank you ### 5/5 — Superb UK mapping *2022-06-21, version 1.30.125* I really like OMN. It combines excellent current mapping with the ability to load historical maps. I particularly value the ability to select which maps to download so they are available without an internet commection. Great printing Options if a hardcopy is required. Still the best mapping app for UK, IoM & France. ### 5/5 — Brilliantly simple *2022-01-26, version 1.30.124* I have used OMN for many years and thought it was about time I wrote a review. It’s great strength lies in its pure simplicity. Route plotting, route editing and tracking are all delightful and intuitive to use. Syncing across devices works faultlessly and map downloads for offline use is both fast and simple. Route line styles can be user defined and waypoint icons can be imported to add to the in-built set if required. The definition and clarity on the HD maps is excellent. OMN may not (yet) have all the advanced navigation tools like ‘go to’ and alarms but for designing and editing routes, syncing them across devices, importing & exporting of GPX files and all against a background of sparkling maps it can’t be beaten. ### 5/5 — First rate *2021-12-23, version 1.30.124* My only criticism is that Ireland, North and South isn’t an available addition. I’m now 75 and have been using digital mapping for 15+ years. I’ve tried three and this is the best. Routing takes a bit of learning but it’s been worth it. ### 4/5 — Clunky, limited features, beware subscription auto renew *2021-11-22, version 1.30.123* I tried this app as a possible replacement for ViewRanger which is sadly no more. I bought a £2 trial subscription of to try out the app. I cancelled this trial subscription as the app was no good for me as the feature set is very limited. Kindly the developer refunded me the annual fee which I thought I had already cancelled. I think this app might work out ok if you’re a fairly basic user and a walker who only needs to look at a fairly small area at a time and only works with a small number of tracks. As a cyclist with a large library of routes there are real problems looking at GPX tracks over a larger area. Worse, the route drawing features are limited to drawing straight lines. No ‘snap to road’ functionality. Also none of the GPX files I uploaded onto the desktop app synchro to the mobile phone app, making the whole thing a bit pointless. The search for a ViewRanger replacement continues… ### 3/5 — Maps don’t download reliably *2021-10-23, version 1.30.123* Difficult to rely on this app as downloaded maps often do not appear and if you are offline you are stuck. ### 2/5 — Does not honour previous map purchases *2021-10-11, version 1.30.123* Over the last 13 years I have spent literally hundreds of pounds buying sections of OS and France maps with Anquet. Since changing to a subscription model I now have to pay again to even see my maps. I feel let down by an otherwise pretty good software company. ### 5/5 — iPhone glitch subscription renewal *2021-08-18, version 1.30.113* On renewal of my annual subscription it carried on seamlessly on my PC and iPad. However the maps on my iPhone were all still loaded on my phone but not visible. A quick e-mail to OMN support and David’s quick response meant the matter was resolved in no time. I have been a customer of Anquet OMN since around 2012 and glitches have been few and far between but the few there have been, I think once before, have always been resolved quickly. Very pleased with the mapping, value and support. ### 4/5 — Very Useful *2021-04-01, version 1.30.113* Happy with Anquet for bike rides ( in conjunction with Ride with GPS) and walks (local to expedition). Also when researching holiday locations where OS maps show footpaths and local detail. Takes some getting used to but works well. ### 5/5 — Had an issue with iOS14 but working perfectly now. *2020-11-28, version 1.30.113* Massive thank you to OMN who came through with how easily to fix an issue a minority of users were having myself included, this was the issue I was having below now fully resolved by support response; “I’ve always loved my Anquet Maps ever since I had them on my PC and now on subscription on my iPhone. But several times today I tried and failed to load past the splash screen and then just crashes every time, I’m guessing it’s OMN needs an update to make it compatible with the latest IOS update.” ### 5/5 — Exactly what it says on the tin. *2019-08-22, version 1.30.113* This is now my mapping app of choice; I’ve tried most of the others which now come nowhere near the mark set by Anquet. The search facility is A1 as are the speeds that the maps load. The speeds maps refresh is also right where it should be. As it is,it’s easily 5-stars but for the extra elusive star😊 I need... a search history (quite easy to do I would imagine?); also valuable would be crosshairs so wherever the crosshairs sit you could see the NGR, lat long details on the map. Finally an elevation profile between points would be great. Not much to ask but perfection needs a stimulant to improve 😊 Keep up the good work! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — This. My advice is to use some other Map App. Complete waste of my money. ### 1/5 — Very poor *2025-04-04, version 1.30.125* I took this app with such high expectations but I am so disappointed. I have an iPhone 14 with up to date iOS software and the app is up to date but it simply won’t open. All I get is a blank white screen. ### 1/5 — Not Happy *2024-12-24, version 1.30.125* Have downloaded the app more times than I have been able to use it. To make matters worse all the map data takes ages to download again. Only been able to record a track twice sometimes I end up with a straight line between the start and finish. Then cannot always delete the tracks.Total frustration cannot depend on software working sometimes it hangs up when loading. Amended Review Downloaded after review lasted one day and hung up again ### 1/5 — Keeps failing to open *2021-08-17, version 1.30.113* 2 years since the last update so I suspect it might have issues with ios14 (and probably even 13!?)? It realises it fails to open and asks to delete a setting file, but that doesn’t help as I’ve been through that process 4 times now, without it even getting to a point of then asking me to login. Annoying as they moved to a subscription model saying it would help then keep apps up to date and they’ve done nothing!! If you haven’t already invested in this I’d suggest avoiding right now. ### 1/5 — Beware auto-renewal *2021-08-03, version 1.30.113* If you subscribe to their map service Anquet will take the money from your card at renewal time without warning you and won’t refund Apparently it’s in their T’s &C’s somewhere on the website - but not in any of their emails. The app is also automated and needs works. Steer clear and take your money elsewhere ### 1/5 — Currently broken for OS maps *2020-03-13, version 1.30.113* I pay a yearly subscription, and currently attempting to view any OS maps results in a plain white screen. Something has broken since December 2019, when I last used this app. ### 1/5 — Directionally inaccurate *2020-01-12, version 1.30.113* Don’t get this app if you need an accurate compass heading. The app is off considerably and the settings don’t allow much modification. Then I absent mindedly upgraded your App assuming my maps would remain. But now I have to spend days downloading them again. I’ve used the latter on tour in France, just as seamlessly as using OS products in the UK.
