It’s changed the way I use the app, and not for the better. ### 4/5 — Occasionally clunky but great at handling many disparate projects *2026-08-13, version 4.8.13* The review functionality is fairly unique and works really well. The mobile app is noticeably more janky than the desktop version, but still works pretty well. I’m also occasionally frustrated by the cumbersome and busy UI (lots of things require a bit of navigation, or too many taps). However, the combination of defer dates and review functionality is great for limiting the amount of tasks I’m looking at, without losing anything across many projects. ### 2/5 — Approaching Unusability *2026-07-15, version 4.8.12* It is sad to see an app that gets worse over time not better. I have used the previous versions. The latest is the worst ever. The way the screen scrolls automatically is horrible. Often I click on something and either nothing happens or a different action is marked complete. Using notes is an exercise in frustration. Copy and paste is nearly impossible. I wish I could go back to an earlier version. We should be able to help out! ### 2/5 — White text on a light gray background?? *2026-06-21, version 4.8.12* Seriously guys, do you even test your product? Answer is clearly no. Selecting a task changes the background to light gray, with a white foreground; yellow if the task is due. Completely illegible. ### 3/5 — Good but still buggy *2026-06-09, version 4.8.11* I have used and updated OmniFocus for many years and it works fine for the most part but there are still a lot of bugs that make the experience not so great. The app freezes frequently on my phone forcing a restart. When I want to enter a note, the note field is hidden behind the keyboard area on the bottom of the screen and I have to scroll the screen up to begin typing. I’m still not happy with a lot of the menu options. TaskPaper? Who still uses that? I don’t, but there it is as a prominent menu item. The pop up menu under Schedule only gives options for today or tomorrow. Why not have a way to pick any date I want? ### 4/5 — Daily plans *2026-05-19, version 4.8.10* My day is much smoother and less complicated using OF4. Once I organized my daily routines for work and personal everything was much easier. I added tags (field, desk, email / calls). This improved daily plans focus. The forecast section makes the future plans easier ### 4/5 — Good *2026-05-04, version 4.8.10* 😊 ### 2/5 — Pretty - but functionally more difficult to use *2026-05-02, version 4.8.10* In v4 many of the features I use from v3 are difficult to find, Clicks in the User Interface do not do what I want them to do; less intuitive; navigation is frustrating. I'm going back to v3 til navigation and functionality have matured in v4. (Update May 2026) - I dropped v4 and went back to v3. If v4 does not get updated with the feature sets from v3 that all worked well - I will altogether drop omnifocus, and start looking for another app. No way I will consider paying money for anything v5 when the money I paid for v4 has already been wasted. ### 5/5 — Leistungsstarkes Tool für Ambitionierte *2026-04-29* Zugegeben: die Einarbeitung dauert etwas. Why not have a way to pick any date I want? ### 2/5 — Trying not to lose hope *2026-04-13, version 4.8.9* OmniFocus was a huge find for me back when I was fresh out of college trying to learn how to be an adult. Now, the most basic things that made OmniFocus a leading task management app back then are being cancelled out by buggy software and awkward UI. To be exact, by the time I hit the “quick capture” shortcut and the app launches in the background and shakily expands the dialog box, I’ve already forgotten what I was gonna write down… Sure I don’t know anything about software engineering, but this app is not graphically complex and the data I’m giving it is all text no photos. Why does it have to move at a glacial pace? (Hoping DWP2 turns out to be good, btw…) Do the people at OmniFocus not use their own software? I gladly paid for this app because I believed in it and wanted to make sure I could help keep it around longer. Please address all the broken commands and twitchy transitions. This is disruptive to the “flow” state of mind that your software was originally designed to support. ### 3/5 — With latest update, Widget still buggy *2026-04-07, version 4.8.9* The Forecast Widget is still very buggy. Even though in the app itself I have asked that Planned Dates be shown in the Forecast view, the widget does not honor that in the way it’s expected. In the widget, if I have Past Items still not done, and a planned item in Today, the view of Past Items will be showing, not the planned item for Today. I expect that if there is a current planned item that that item should be given display priority over items that are Past Due. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — OmniFocus 3 was perfect *2026-08-12, version 4.8.13* I’ve been using OmniFocus for years. They over engineered OmniFocus 4 into an absolute monstrosity that goes against the basic premise of the app. So much for a simple, distraction free design. ### 1/5 — No GPT / Claude connection *2026-07-06, version 4.8.12* Love omnifocus and have been a loyal customer for years. But with the evolution of AI they need to get with the times and build a connector into various AI tools or risk being outpaced and out performed. They already are to be honest. I can pull my database from their console and give it to AI to allow that AI to replicate my database with omnifocus somewhere else. I would prefer to keep it where it is. So please speed up and create the connector. Knowing omnifocus you will want to charge for some privilege … ### 1/5 — Seriously? *2026-06-30, version 4.8.12* App freezes ALL. THE. Вот только нет в списке OF 3, уважаемые, не работает ваш совет. ### 1/5 — Losing its way: How OmniFocus 4 is alienating its veteran user base *2026-05-01* As a power user of OmniFocus for 10+ years, I am deeply disappointed by the recent direction of the app. The UI feels over-designed and counter-intuitive, stripping away the streamlined efficiency that long-term users rely on. The monetization strategy is equally frustrating. Forcing long-term customers to pay a steep premium (nearly ¥900) for basic functionality like Custom Perspectives feels like a breach of trust. Furthermore, the removal of the calendar export/subscription feature is a massive regression. The Forecast view is simply not a viable replacement for Apple Calendar integration. It feels as though the current design team has lost touch with what made OmniFocus a gold standard for productivity. I urge you to reconsider these "anti-user" changes and bring back the functional simplicity that defined this software. As an owner of a previous edition of OmniFocus, you should have been eligible for a 50% upgrade discount when purchasing OmniFocus 4 (Standard or Pro). While we know some OmniFocus customers found this feature helpful in their calendar-based workflows, it was originally implemented as a method for enabling due alarms and there were a number of factors which complicated our ability to continuing supporting the feature (including the introduction of OmniFocus database encryption and persistent authentication issues related to iCloud keychain). ### 1/5 — iOS 26 update ruined it *2026-04-18, version 4.8.9* I used to absolutely love this app, and I still love the desktop version of OmniFocus, but the latest version of the app is a disaster. They changed the layout in such a way that most of the screen real estate is taken up by buttons and you can only see a few items at a time. Even worse, the buttons frequently don’t work. The “add new” button in particular works maybe 30% of the time and it’s super frustrating. The tags on items sometimes show and sometimes don’t. Oh, and when you mark an item complete on a long list it jumps to the top of the list instead of keeping the current view. More information about the Standard and Pro feature sets is available on our website: https://www.omnigroup.com/omnifocus/features/ ### 1/5 — 2からずっと使ってますが… *2025-12-16* iOS26になってからタップしても違うタスクが選ばれる、固まる、文字入力が勝手に中断される等が続いています。 そのうち修正されると思いますが安定性、安心感が良さだと思っていたので残念です。 あと誤操作しそうなのでウィジェットでタスクを消せないように(選べるように)して欲しいです。 [12/09追記] いまだに文字入力がおかしくまともにタスク登録すらできなかったりタスクが画面外へ消えたりと、非常にストレスを感じています。 最近はAppleリマインダーも色々できるようになってきたし他アプリからも見れたりと融通がきくので移行検討中😢 [12/16追記] 不満はあれど別アプリで見れたり融通がきくのでAppleリマインダーに移行しました。 本当残念です、ありがとうございました。 ### 1/5 — Disaster since v4 *2025-12-14* Long time OmniFocus user. V4 has been a buggy mess, made worse when they updated the UI for Liquid Glass. It’s not perfect, and sometimes a change makes it worse (I sometimes wonder if the people who write it actually use it - I review 30-40 projects every day, and that workflow has got more tedious over the years with every extra little tap). I’ve been using tags for context (like “calls” or “at desk”), and it’s surprisingly helpful when deciding what to work on next. The Forecast view is another highlight.
