I don't know how one could create art such as illustrated on the app page though. Maybe it just takes more practice or reading some instructions. ### 5/5 — Very cool! *2012-06-03, version 1.5.3* When I first downloaded this app, I hated it. However, the more I played with it, the more I saw how ingenious it is, and how much you could really do with it, if you give it a chance. It is now one of my favorite apps. Try it! I'll be keeping this app.😍 ### 4/5 — It's okay *2012-03-16, version 1.5.2* There are definitely better drawing apps then this, but this one works well. my favorite feature is its one of the only ones that has a good mirroring feature. however, you should be able to zoom in and draw and also when uploading the photo to share or to the library the image quality is really poor. Very easy to use and lots of creative options. I played it for hours and have a hard time putting it down. I am loving the results I get with just a few strokes. I am experimenting with the settings, lots of possibilities. Wish it has a Little more control on detail or pressure but fantastic. Recommend it to anyone wanting to put their thoughts and images to paper. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — What happened? *2014-10-15, version 1.7* I am a long time Omnisketch user and LOVED it. It was BY FAR the best of the Harmony-clone (pure procedural brush) drawing apps. I've long hoped for an update to fill a few of its functionality gaps, so I was DELIGHTED to finally see it in my update list today. And now... I am SO SORRY I clicked on it, because this "update" (if you can even call it that) is TERRIBLE. it completely destroyed the app. Very much hoping it is just a bug, and that the developer will fix it ASAP. ### 1/5 — Worthless-applies blur to your drawings every time you save! *2012-10-03, version 1.5.3* In terms of a drawing tool, this has nice features. But this is rendered worthless if when you save your file, the next time you open it, it's blurry. Every single file I've saved has been blurry the next time I've opened it! If you save multiple revisions as you work, it gets blurrier and blurrier. Stupid and useless. Would be 4**** if it let you save your drawings without destroying them with a permanent blur filter. ### 1/5 — Bad *2012-05-19, version 1.5.3* The normal procedural tools are not good. Was hoping this was more like the Harmonious app but with symmetry support. Everything is too sharp, there is no blurring or really good shading. I guess I wasted two bucks to find out this app doesn't have what I was looking for. I hate the app store policies. All sales final. This is the worst drawing app in the world. Save your money and get procreate, harmonious, and sketch club. The good ratings must be from when this was the only drawing app. ### 2/5 — Killer bug *2021-02-27, version 1.7.4* I bought this because of the advertised procedural drawing brush, as created years ago by Mr Doob. Not only is the implementation of the brush poor, if one changes the width of the brush in settings, it loses its attributes and only draws in polygons. Two stars for effort but cannot reccomend. ### 2/5 — Worked on 11, choppy on 12 *2020-02-27, version 1.7.4* I love this app. It worked so beautifully on iPadOS 11, but now on 12 it’s choppy and basically unusable. Pretty disappointing because I used to use it a lot. Will change rating if there’s an update that fixes the issue. ### 2/5 — Not accurate *2016-05-25, version 1.7.4* Kaleidoscope isn't true to kaleidoscope, only a four-way split. Disappointing! ### 2/5 — Elegant and sophisticated drawing app *2012-03-17, version 1.5.2* Update: runs terrible on the new iPad. One of my favorite apps has become completely unusable. The lag is so bad I can't even explain and it can't process the stroke. I did side by side with iPad 2 and the difference is amazing. I highly recommend for ipad2, but not for the new iPad... I rarely write reviews but in this instance I have gush over this app. I'm a business person with a fine art background. I still love to draw and paint, but never seem to have enough time. I have 5 or 6 other drawing apps that all serve different purposes but none touch the feeling of making art that Omnisketch does. It just feels amazing to sketch out little gems of art. I'm inspired by it. This thing actually behaves the way I like to draw. Just watching the strokes develop on the screen is beautiful. I was amazed at the intelligence behind the developing strokes and how they intuitively blend. The speed at that an idea or sketch comes to life is so exciting. It may not be for everyone, but even if you just like to just doodle I'll bet you'll be thrilled by this simple, elegant and powerful drawing tool. It's the best 1.99 I have ever spent. Suggestions: 1) Ability to zoom into areas 2) layers 3) allow erase to use stroke patterns 4) allow custom stroke patterns I just want to say thanks, I'm booming with ideas to use this app for. ### 3/5 — Does not work on iPad 3 *2012-03-19, version 1.5.2* I really enjoyed using this app on my iPad 1 and on that device would give it 5 stars. Sadly this app does not work correctly on the iPad 3. There is a huge lag time between touching the screen and anything appearing and when it does appear it doesn't process the finger gesture correctly and the result is a mess. I hope you are able to fix this to run correctly on the iPad 3 because I will certainly miss using it. ### 4/5 — Most unique collection of procedural brushes *2016-09-14, version 1.7.4* OmniSketch has been on my assorted iDevices for years, and it runs just fine in iOS 10. It has quite an array of interesting effects brushes, especially if you add the geometry set. While it's useful as is, I'd love to see at least an image layer added so that I could fit use pre-existing art or photos as a reference. As other reviewers have noted it would also be helpful to have better color controls. ### 4/5 — Very good app *2013-01-09, version 1.5.3* I just recently downloaded this app so I have a lot to learn. There are so many brushes and variable options that it will take a while to figure out. Also the color wheel is not very friendly and too difficult to adjust. Over all its great.
