## What is On Ice?

You don't need another budget app. You need something between you and the
checkout button.

On Ice catches the moment you're about to buy something you don't need, and
slows it down.

SCREENSHOT THE THING
On Ice reads the price on your phone. Nothing is uploaded.

PUT IT IN THE FREEZER
It sits there instead of in your cart. In two weeks we'll ask whether you
still want it. Most of the time, you won't.

OR GO SHOPPING ANYWAY — FOR FREE
The Fake Store is a whole simulated shopping app. Add to cart, check out,
watch it ship, open the box. The urge is often about the ritual, not the
object. So have the ritual. Keep the money.

LOCK THE REAL APPS
Built on Apple's Screen Time. Pick the apps, pick how long. No app on iOS
can truly lock you out — this one catches the three-second slip, not your
resolve.

TALK TO CALM BEAR
A coach that reads back what you wrote instead of lecturing you. It never
tells you whether to buy.

WATCH IT ADD UP
Every thing you didn't buy becomes a number. That number becomes something
you actually wanted.

On Ice does not connect to your bank, does not read your messages, and does
not send your screenshots anywhere. Almost everything stays on your phone.

Membership
The free version works on its own. On Ice Membership is an auto-renewable subscription, monthly or yearly: unlimited items in the Freezer, unlimited acting-out and Fake Store, 20 deep talks a day with the Cat Coach, unlimited custom categories, and the full impulse analysis.
Payment is charged to your Apple Account. The subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel anytime in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.1.1 — 2026-09-26

Bug fixes.

### 1.1 — 2026-09-24

The biggest update since On Ice launched.

· Rescue: when the urge peaks, tap 急 on the home screen and breathe with the rising and falling water for 20 seconds — then decide: skip it, freeze it, or act out the purchase
· Standing reminder: pick your shopping apps, and every time you open one it asks first — “do you really need this?” Just looking? It lets you through for 15 minutes
· Color mode: shopping apps turn grey or inverted while you are in them, and go back to normal when you leave. Set it up once from the Lock page
· Screenshot shortcut: add one shortcut from the Lock page, then tap the back of your phone twice — it takes the screenshot, reads the item and the price, and asks whether to freeze it, act it out, or log it as money saved. The app never has to open
· Calm log: pick a name, choose how the coach talks to you, note how many you already own, and see when and what you are most likely to cave on
· Items can be filed under a category. Add your own, reorder them, hide the ones you never use. The first time you log a category, it asks how many you already have at home
· Impulse analysis: see what time of day and which kind of thing gets you
· iCloud backup: new phone or fresh install, your Freezer and your record come back
· The coach is now the Cat Coach, in calm, gentle or savage
· The home screen entrances are one line now: Freezer | Lock | Rescue | Coach
· Membership: unlimited items in the Freezer, unlimited acting-out and Fake Store, 20 deep talks a day with the Cat Coach, unlimited custom categories, and the full impulse analysis. The free version gives you 3 freezes, 3 act-outs and 3 Fake Store visits a week, 10 talks with the cat, and 2 custom categories
· A gift for early users: if you downloaded On Ice before September 20, open the app and take the membership card — free until September 20, 2027. It does not renew and it never charges you

Thank you for staying. Every time you held back counts.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-09-12

English is here — and so are Japanese and Traditional Chinese.

• Four languages now. The app follows your device language.
• Pick the currency you actually think in — USD, EUR, GBP, AUD, CAD, SGD, HKD, TWD, JPY, KRW, CNY. The fake store and the price-in-hours math both follow along.
• The ticker on the home screen stopped sprinting and stalling, and it has something to show you the first time you open the app.
• Fixed the layout that was getting cut off on iPad. Re-checked on iPad Air 11-inch (M3) and iPad Pro 12.9-inch.
• Fixed the bottom bar floating over the keyboard while typing an amount.

Still free. Still no in-app purchases, no subscription, no account.

### 1.0 — 2026-08-27
