### 4/5 — Definitely fun.

*2026-08-18, version 2.0.23*

This game is fun. There are enough leaders that it does not get repetitive, but after a few months I think it will unless I spent money to get different characters. But I am certainly enjoying it now.

### 4/5 — Good but not “beginner” friendly

*2026-08-15*

I’m not usually into TCG/Deck building games much, and this game is definitely a lot of fun, but it very much so seems to assume you know how to play this sort of game. There’s almost no tutorial of sorts, and even less telling you what is going on. I’m doing pretty well I think, but it’s a lot of me just guessing and praying. I would love if there was at least some sort of way to look up things to understand more - like what does a treasure actually look like, what is a spell, how often can things be used? Overall it isn’t clearly labeled or, basically, complete beginner friendly. I still don’t even know how to build myself a custom deck, and once I have, where to find it. The game is fun and I play it a lot, which is why I gave it 4 stars, but for how much I get lost or confused, I really wanted to give it 3.

### 2/5 — Fun Until It’s Frustrating

*2026-07-26*

Game is fun for a while, but something isn’t right about the balance of it. It’s very easy for it to seem like you and your opponents are not playing the same game. Some games it feels like you’re two turns behind, some games you’re the one two turns ahead. Some games it seems your opponents just leave and their board never changes, and you can tie the game into infinity. This makes me believe that the asynchronous nature of the game just takes random snapshots of boards up to a point and then it’ll just give you the same one forever until the games over. The strategy aspect of this just feels nonexistent.

It’s probably better to save yourself the headache and not download this.

### 3/5 — It’s fine.

*2026-07-04*

Just started playing and my first impressions is that the game is meh and worst and ok a best. I think that in general the draft system for a “deck” is too randomized. For example I could be trying to make a strategy based on the animal type getting a good piece for the strategy and maybe also a good captain but then get nothing for two turns forcing me to entirely change strategies. I think that currently the thing I want most is to be able to customize or be able to control the decks if that is a feature. I hope to find it soon. It may also be because I can’t read any of the text which might be a problem on my side. I also have no idea if I am playing against real people but I doubt so since I’ve only been playing for about 5-10 minutes. Also have no idea what the pass does or what happens when I get enough stars for the next tier since I saw no changes in my gameplay. Again this all could change as I play this game for longer since I trust VeggieWagon from decked out but for now I think this is the highest review I can give this game.

### 5/5 — Great autobattler card game

*2026-06-24, version 2.0.19*

I’ve really been enjoying the game. It has a lot of replayability and interaction to explore! Would love to see more builds become viable as the strong ones are just a bit too strong

### 5/5 — Secret Rare-no skill

*2026-06-20*

My Rank-Legendary for context, This game is amazing and the skill ceiling is endless ,on top of the fact that sometimes you don’t know what is going on but your stats are huge, as soon as an opponent gets a secret rare the game is basically over for you. Secret rares are so strong that it basically takes the skill out of the game . One right hunt or a crazy support and you just can’t compete . They are so strong compared to everything else in the game. You spent 10 turns making a huge summon board, doesn’t matter big bad wolf spawns in and hits one enemy your entire board is just out stated every turn , Paul Bunyan shows up he literally just steals your stats and you have to scam him to win which just isn’t fun. In conclusion for the love of god just take out secret rares or balance their abilities because it is ruining the game for me as well as others I’m sure.

### 5/5 — Amazing game

*2026-06-19, version 2.0.19*

Love all of the art and mechanics great game

### 2/5 — Buggy and crashing after update

*2026-06-19*

Fun game, but the update has caused my game to crash after every game now.

### 5/5 — Addictive and Fun!

*2026-06-14, version 2.0.19*

This game’s developers clearly care about the game and the players. The gameplay is fun and addictive, it’s free to play and you only purchase for early access to new content and for aesthetic skins for cards. I can never put this game down!

### 3/5 — Good Game, Terribly Optimised for Iphone

*2026-06-12*

Game is good, ive played a lot on pc and my iphone.

The app itself is very poorly optimised. It drains power very quickly, and has weird prioritisation which makes it difficult to swap to another app while it is running. Most of the time doing so will also end your run without notifying you, sometimes temporarily freezing your phone in the process. It also forces sound priority stopping whatever else you might have playing, this is workaround-able but shows the general issue with the app. I don’t know how best to explain it beyond this but its the worst app on my phone in terms of these issues. I assume this is just down to bad programming of some kind but i dont know anything about that. I assume these issues are fixable with some work but idk.

### 5/5 — 1

*2026-06-12*

Great Game but latest Update seems to crash the Game after 2-3 rounds

### 5/5 — Great game

*2026-06-12, version 2.0.19*

If I were you, I’d play this game.

### 5/5 — Wanting more

*2026-06-11, version 2.0.19*

This game has been great and I’ll usually open it up once or trice a day. It’s really fun trying new synergies and new play styles. What I would love is some sort of longer version option, maybe everyone starts with 5 hearts and there are 2-4 more players involved. The tournaments are also great, but come very seldomly.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — RNG Ruins This Game

*2026-09-05, version 2.0.26*

First off, this is a unique and interesting game and the art is wonderful. However, as you progress in difficulty, the RNG is absolutely broken. Time after time I find myself getting screwed over with random chance while getting placed against players that are having their best luck. It doesn’t feel good, fair, or balanced. I don’t need to win every match but getting 6th over and over because of bad luck is poor game design.

### 1/5 — Pay to win

*2026-07-31, version 2.0.22*

Devs are consistently adding p2w features over the last few updates.

### 1/5 — Pay To Win DO NOT DOWNLOAD

*2026-07-30, version 2.0.21*

I loved this game and have been very competitive in high MMR lobbies, playing multiple games a day. With the new reroll microtransactions I will not be playing nearly as often if at all.

If you’re interested in this game you should not download it, find a better game with a dev team that has demonstrated that they will take reasonable action to monetize their game without sacking it.

The captain reroll microtransactions cause high MMR games to be more stale with the same OP captains and put you at a competitive disadvantage if you don’t have them. RIP to what used to be a cool game.

### 1/5 — Stupid

*2026-07-24, version 2.0.21*

So I was having a good run but had to change apps for sixty seconds. POOF. RUN VANISHED.

### 1/5 — New predatory IAPs

*2026-07-24, version 2.0.21*

I used to really support this game - advertised it to all my friends and anyone looking for a fun game they can play on the go. I spent a fair amount of money just to support the developers because I really believed they were onto something good. Unfortunately, their recent patch added in a new monetization for an in-game advantage. It adds up to $45… at its discounted price. There’s no way for free-to-play players to unlock these advantages. It’s one thing to lock cosmetics behind a paywall, but doing it to gameplay is completely different. It’s scummy and unnecessary.

### 1/5 — Paid Rerolls are a terrible idea

*2026-07-20*

The game has a just problem with captain bloat, with each requiring all cards to be unlocked all over again and each diluting the chances of seeing any other.champion in your picks. Selling the "solution" for 60 bucks and another 20 for every set is just a terrible, greedy idea that leaves all non-whale players in the dust.

### 1/5 — New update ruined game

*2026-07-01, version 2.0.20*

Idk what they did but ever since the update my luck has been worse the character selection has been worse and the game quality has decreased.

### 1/5 — Fine except for rubber banding and quick deaths

*2026-05-26, version 2.0.17*

Games is an okay clone of once upon a time. The game has worse heart system, you can lose an entire game and only play three rounds. There is also some rubber banding going on. I’ll face incredibly hard lobbies and then steam roll a lobby whose last player still has 1 or 2 common characters still on the board.

### 1/5 — Most uneven slop ever.

*2026-05-12, version 2.0.17*

This game is so unbalanced, then you look up rules and it lies. Like first turn is supposed to be random. It’s not. It’s whatever is to your disadvantage. Then the captain selection is non existent so you can’t silver captains you can’t play. Then cards are not based on your captain. The ai is horrible and it’s a pure cash grab without anything incentivized to purchase.

### 1/5 — Unbalanced

*2026-03-23, version 2.0.12*

If it’s not meta there is no win. There’s too many captains not enough cards. They magically pull out the OP teams when you get a good run early so they can end yours or just magically lower all your opponents to 1 heart so the game is over immediately, battles are too slow. If you pick a captain and make a custom deck you won’t ever see any cards you select. For a card game it’s rubbish.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great game

*2026-08-28, version 2.0.24*

Great game. Lots of fun and fair pay mechanics.

### 5/5 — Good, fast, convenient.

*2026-08-27, version 2.0.24*

If you like auto-battlers this one is definitely worth giving a try. It is free, fast-paced, and easy to learn. Similar to Hearthstone Battlegrounds but more fun and well developed in my opinion. RNG can be rough sometimes but games feel casual and go fast so it is not a big deal to just go next when you get rolled.

### 5/5 — Русский язык

*2026-08-27*

Русский язык пожалуйста

### 5/5 — Great game!

*2026-08-25, version 2.0.23*

Amazing game. Simply put. It’s actually fun to play.

### 5/5 — Great!

*2026-08-15, version 2.0.23*

No pay to win here, just good card smashing fun. Give it a shot!

### 5/5 — Great laid back auto-battler!

*2026-08-15, version 2.0.23*

This game is very fun! The balance seems good so far, the community is active and friendly, the game lets you play it at your own pace and is a lot of fun!

### 5/5 — Like a faster hearthstone

*2026-08-01, version 2.0.22*

As a HS fan, this game is dope. Matches are fast and don’t require constant connections or waiting. Cool.

### 5/5 — What a Beautiful Game

*2026-07-29, version 2.0.21*

“
Once upon a galaxy is so interesting because some games you'll be committing literal war crimes against actual children and other games you're getting 5th place after obtaining every secret rare treasure on turn 16
“

### 5/5 — this game is awesome

*2026-07-14, version 2.0.20*

i. love. this. game. the fact that theres no ai and no ads makes it even more appealing to me! the gameplay has me losing actual hours in the day and i love giving different captains a try.

### 5/5 — Great free game - quick fun matches

*2026-06-30, version 2.0.20*

I have been having a blast with this game. The fact it’s made by a lot of the same people that made Storybook Brawl is such a selling point to me, they’re the best and that game was fantastic. Really fun quick matches that you can walk away from at any time because of the asynchronous matchmaking. Really smart, highly recommended
