My brother also used it when we was out and I could track his progress. This new app does not seem to work. Both my brother and I have been trying to use it over the last few weeks without much success. We are logged into accounts, we have mmsi numbers registered, we are cruising in areas with decent cell coverage. It just doesn't seem to report our position. Perhaps if I bought the upgrade to the "pro" version it would work but why would I do that. Based on the description of the app, the free version should simply report position. ### 1/5 — Useless *2016-09-01* The search facility is useless. It doesn't bring up any boats I'm searching for and doesn't show boats on the map when I'm searching for them by their location at sea! ### 1/5 — Unusable... *2015-09-12, version 1.2* This app requires that you set up an account, which is completely understandable. The problem is the registration page is beyond unusable- will not tell you what the password creation requirements are- indecipherable anti-robot mechanism. This has not worked for over a month. Seems that nobody cares ### 1/5 — No longer provides tracking to MarineTraffic *2024-10-12* As very long term users of MarineTraffic (MT) we were really pleased to find the OnCourse app to show our position and track when out-of-range of AIS shore stations. However, a few weeks ago it stopped showing that. The Destination entered on OnCourse is still transferred to MT but position/course is not (even though OnCourse shows hundreds of positions have been sent with “Success”). We are going over to a rival app: noforeignland. ### 1/5 — Works for 5 seconds *2024-04-26* This app works for 5 seconds then switches off not prepared to buy until much better ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2023-03-10* I have tried setting up an account many times. We look forward to hearing from you. ### 1/5 — Can’t Register *2019-09-13, version 2.2.5* Tried to register but just continued to receive a registration failed message. ### 1/5 — So far can't get to work *2018-09-29, version 2.2.2* You have to sign up for it to work and it says they will send you an email to complete the sign up process but after 3 days no email so I cannot even try it. I emailed them and no response Update as of 9/29/18 Whenever you jump to another app and come back to this app it as if you are opening it for the first time. PITA. And for some reason the first page it opens is the iOS Settings page EVERY TIME! It is a very helpful app if it wasn't such a pain to use ## Most praised reviews (9 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Great app and service *2024-03-31* As a cruising sailor with family and friends around the world, this is is a fantastic app that allows me to automatically share our location, heading and boat speed straight to MarineTraffic from my iPhone. There is a bug currently that defaults our status to “underway using engine” which no doubt is an easy fix. Thanks Kpler for providing this app! @sailing.orea ### 5/5 — Brilliant way to transmit your AIS position to the world! *2021-03-13* This is a companion app developed to allow you to add your AIS position on the Marine Traffic app just as if you had a full AIS transponder! You can display your destination to help others track your progress when sailing in company and those at home wanting to know where you are. Remember it only works where there is a mobile signal and will not show on ships AIS displays but still highly recommended for coastal small boat sailing. Obviously only really good for people tracking you and for your own records, but I can't recommend it enough! ### 3/5 — Works most of the time *2016-06-20* Could use improvements. Thanks. ### 2/5 — Urgently needs to be updated *2021-04-22* In theory an excellent app, but on modern iPhones (such as iPhone 12) dialogue boxes are simply too small to use.
