## What is Ondaris?

Ondaris is a calculation workspace for communications, optics and photonics: for engineers, students, researchers, lecturers and technicians who need the number and the working behind it.

Enter your parameters once and explore the whole system. Change the frequency and the wavelength, path loss, antenna aperture, Fresnel radius and Doppler shift all follow. Drag along a curve to see how link margin falls with distance. Solve backwards for the range, aperture or bandwidth that meets your target.

Every calculation shows its work. Tap through to the equation, what each symbol means, what the model assumes, where it stops being valid, and which document it came from. Export a PDF that carries all of it, so the person reading your report can check you.

WHAT IS INSIDE
28 calculators in five groups.

Converters: frequency and wavelength; W, dBm and dBW; ratio and decibels; VSWR, return loss and match; propagation delay.

RF and microwave: free-space path loss, full link budget, Fresnel zone clearance, EIRP and power flux density, antenna gain and aperture, thermal noise, cascaded noise figure, Shannon capacity, Doppler shift, and a Smith chart with L-network synthesis and a swept response.

Link performance: bit error rate for M-PSK, square M-QAM and on-off keying, and receiver sensitivity from Eb/N0.

Optical: photon energy and rate, Gaussian beam propagation, FSO link budget, detector responsivity, FSO scintillation and fade margin, and optical receiver SNR with shot, thermal and RIN noise.

Fiber: power budget, V-number and guided modes, chromatic dispersion.

HOW IT WORKS
Strict units. Enter GHz or MHz, dBm or watts, kilometres or feet. Everything is converted to SI internally, so the answer never depends on how you typed it.

Live recalculation as you change any input.

Interactive plots you can scrub, with the operating point marked and the threshold crossing stated.

Reverse solving. Set the answer you need and the input follows, on 25 of the 28 calculators. It is not offered on the Smith chart, where a target can have two valid answers and showing only one would mislead, nor on the two single-step converters, where switching a unit already is the inverse.

Projects that share parameters across calculators, with side-by-side scenario comparison.

A one-port Touchstone file from a vector analyser drops onto the Smith chart, so a measured sweep sits over the synthesised one.

PDF, CSV and LaTeX export, carrying the assumptions, the validity range and the source clause with them.

Built for VoiceOver and Dynamic Type throughout: charts are spoken, not just drawn.

Every calculation runs offline. No account required. The only time Ondaris uses the network is to fetch the Pro price from the App Store and to restore a purchase.

WHAT IT IS NOT
Ondaris is a calculation bench, not a simulator. It gives you closed-form engineering models with their assumptions stated. It does not do full-wave electromagnetics, ray tracing or end-to-end system simulation. That boundary is deliberate: every model in it is one you could check by hand, which is the whole point.

Each formula carries a review status and the limitations it was approved under, by SCOPT Inc. That is an engineering review by the publisher, not certification by any standards body or test house.

No advertising. No tracking. No chatbot. Just the arithmetic, done properly and shown openly.
