## What is One Big Player?

Control your music while driving or biking without your readers. Easily select Artists, Albums, and Playlists.

You can figure out how to use it by playing with it for a minute or two. While not a CarPlay app, One Big Player is a good companion to CarPlay, keeping the tracks visible on your phone while the car's display shows a single song's details.

A great feature is Resume. When you re-open the app it picks up where you left off when you press Resume. If you had pressed the Shuffle before you closed the app, when you press Resume it will present the Album or Playlist tracks, perform a shuffle, and start playing.

One Big Player will only play offline (non-cloud based) music so be sure to download the songs you want and get them physically on your iPhone or iPad.

## Key features

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 4.1 — 2026-06-15

Fixed keychain API key saving issue for App Store builds. Added fallback logic to KeychainHelper that retries keychain operations without access group if initial attempt fails.

### 3.0 — 2026-03-29

I was missing being able to read the "liner notes" for an album and I realized we have the Anthropic Claude AI that can provide a lot of details! So now, when viewing Track Details, a user can tap the Artist, Album, or Track and hear a spoken description. In order for this to work a user will need to visit console.anthropic.com and get an API Key to support Artist, Album, and Track research. There is now a Setting Icon in the Track Details view. Put the API Key here. Also in Settings a user can choose which voice to speak in.

BIG NOTE: The API Key is stored in the Keychain and not shown or shared anywhere.

Everything else works exactly the same as the previous version.

### 2.0 — 2026-02-02

Version 2.0 allows one to Choose interesting albums. Once chosen they can be selected from the launch screen with the button "Chosen Albums".

I have added a "Scrape" function to the alphabetic index for Artists, Albums, Playlists, and Chosen Albums.

Finally, there is a new, small time display when playing a track, and some minor bug fixes.

### 1.0 — 2023-03-29

No release notes.
