### 2/5 — Weird

*2026-05-19*

Helpful but I deleted for a trip - made me watch a 10 min infomercial to get back in and then wouldn’t let me restore my purchase. Buggy and a little awkward but a good concept.

### 3/5 — Great concept too much money

*2026-04-13, version 1.13*

Got really excited but then got hit with a paywall, not even a free trial.

### 2/5 — Price

*2026-01-25*

Good idea, except the fact that you eed too pay for 35$a year for that.

### 1/5 — Privacy intrusion

*2026-01-17*

Too rigid. Im not sending this app a photo of the work that I am doing every time…it’s confidential. Also not showing myself working out meditating etc. It’s too intrusive. Also don’t need all the silly AI remarks when I show a corner of my screen where I am in fact working but from home so it tries to roast me bc there is a sofa in the distance. Annoying

**Developer response:** Hey, thanks for the honest feedback and sorry this felt intrusive. That’s definitely not the experience we want people to have.

Just to clarify a bit: photos are only used for background context so the AI can understand what’s happening in the moment, they aren’t stored, shared, or used for anything outside of that flow. That said, we totally get that even then, asking for photos can feel uncomfortable or unnecessary, especially when your work is confidential.

The AI feedback is also meant to be light and motivating, not annoying or unfair. Clearly it missed the mark here, and the “roasting” based on small details like a sofa isn’t helpful at all. That’s on us.

We’re actively improving both the flexibility of the system and how the AI responds, including giving users more control over when photos are used and how the feedback behaves. Really appreciate you calling this out, it genuinely helps us make the app better.

If you’re open to it, feel free to reach out in-app or via support with more specifics - we do read it all.

### 3/5 — Bug

*2026-01-05*

I had high hopes but it got stuck on the options of listings when I try to enter for days of a week it just stay there and I can get out.

**Developer response:** Hi there! Thank you for letting us know and we’re really sorry for the frustration this caused. This definitely isn’t the experience we want for you.

We have since fixed this rare setup flow bug, please let us know if you are still having issues by contacting jason@tryonething.app. Thanks for your patience we truly appreciate the feedback.

### 1/5 — Bug

*2026-01-05*

I selected weekday but it won’t let me continue

**Developer response:** Hi there! Thank you for letting us know and we’re really sorry for the frustration this caused. This definitely isn’t the experience we want for you. We have since fixed this rare setup flow bug, please let us know if you are still having issues by contacting jason@tryonething.app. Thanks for your patience we truly appreciate the feedback.

### 1/5 — Price

*2025-11-22*

Cost too much for an app the doesn’t work.

### 2/5 — Buggy

*2025-11-20*

The app helps a lot with time management. To be honest the idea is hella great. I bought the subscription and the first week was great, but during the next week bugs started to show themselves, blocks stopped working or the one thing timer sets itself some random work time. Today it even started by itself and didn’t record it anywhere. Blocks are gone and I didn’t even do the one thing. For the discomfort I’m putting the 3 stars, waiting for the bug fixes after which we’ll see.

**Developer response:** Hey! Thanks for the honest review and for sticking with the app despite the issues. You’re right, what you’re describing isn’t acceptable behavior.

We’re actively fixing bugs related to timers and blocking logic, and feedback like this helps us prioritize exactly what needs attention. Please reach out to jason@tryonething.app so we can look into your specific case.

We really appreciate you giving us another chance while we improve things.

### 1/5 — Unnecessary aggression within the app.

*2025-11-13*

I’ll give the app this: it’s decently effective at breaking scrolling and social media habits, but it has a really huge flaw. Whenever the app, even if it’s wrong, detects you’re “lying” and not actually doing your daily task, it throws unnecessarily disrespectful insults at you. A few days ago, I had taken a picture of myself to demonstrate the task I was doing, and it had told me I was incorrect. That’s fine, but then it followed with insulting my appearance and even poked fun at certain facial features I had which apparently, according it’s commentary, made me look like “a mess.” Today, I took a picture of a new productivity calendar I had set up for myself to help with organizing my side hustle, under the category “work on business.” Not only did it say I was lying, which I wasn’t, but it also starting making fun of the information I had on my calendar and began mock the goals I had down in a very derogatory way.
If you want an app to break scrolling habits, go find another because this one will only insult you, even if the AI itself, not you, produces a false negative.

**Developer response:** Hi Justin, Thank you for taking the time to write this, and we’re genuinely sorry for that experience. That kind of language or personal commentary is not what we want users to feel when using One Thing.

The AI feedback system is meant to be motivating, not disrespectful, and it’s clear we missed the mark here. We’re actively reviewing this behavior and adjusting the tone to ensure it’s constructive and supportive, especially in cases of false negatives.

If you’re open to it, please email us at jason@tryonething.app so we can look into this more closely. Your feedback is taken seriously, and we appreciate you calling this out.

Once again we really do apologize for your experience.

### 2/5 — Paid App

*2025-11-10*

This app does happens to be a very useful tool for teenagers and people starting their 20s, but the main thing that is holding us back is that we have to pay a good amount to use this application, which I think will be difficult for a lot of us, i really liked this app and was eager to use it. But it turns out to be paid so I don’t think I’ll be able to use it anymore.

### 3/5 — Works for the most part

*2025-11-08, version 1.05*

Blocks apps, really makes you earn it. But time limits on this app do not work.

### 1/5 — Paid

*2025-11-07, version 1.05*

Requires a massive payment per month not worth it in my opinion. Also because all it does is make you get started you can easily get distracted while the timer is going.

### 2/5 — Doesn’t work well

*2025-11-05*

You can’t set daily schedule blocks because they stop working. This app has many bugs, but it has a lot of potential if fixed. Buying a subscription would be a waste of money.

**Developer response:** Hi, thanks for the honest feedback. You’re right that if daily schedule blocks stop working, that completely undermines the app.

We’re actively fixing bugs around scheduling and reliability, and feedback like this helps us prioritize what matters most. If you’re open to it, please contact us at jason@tryonething.app so we can look into your specific case. We appreciate you pointing out both the issues and the potential.

### 2/5 — Payment

*2025-11-03, version 1.04*

I don’t want to pay for this. Please make a free version 🙏 I am a broke student

### 2/5 — Good idea, badly executed

*2025-11-02*

It was a good idea before you decided to make people pay 0,20€ a DAY for this app, this is ridiculously high.

**Developer response:** Hi, thanks for sharing your thoughts. We understand that pricing is an important factor, and we know the app needs to consistently deliver value to justify it.

We’re actively improving stability and features to better match the price, and feedback like yours is taken seriously. If you’d like to share more, feel free to reach out to jason@tryonething.app.

### 1/5 — It’s not free

*2025-10-28*

I’m a teenager I can’t pay online. And I always prefer not to spend on any apps at all.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Bonne idée mais…

*2026-04-27*

Presque 10€ par mois pour un opale « améliorée » c’est ridicule et trop cher

### 1/5 — Used to be a decent app

*2026-03-31*

This used to be a great app for students. Especially when there was a free plan for students to focus on their work and get it done. However, it looks like times have changed. There is no more free plan than as soon as you get done analyzing the questions that ask you for micro transactions. I understood the main goal of this app was to help students. Get discounts because poor students/college kids can’t afford the world.

### 1/5 — Expensive

*2026-03-22, version 1.12*

Made me go through a planning system for 15 minutes then told me I have to pay £30. What a waste of my time.

### 1/5 — Not good

*2026-03-22*

It’s paid

### 1/5 — paywall

*2026-03-20, version 1.12*

i want to help myself, not pay to help myself.

### 1/5 — Paid

*2026-03-13, version 1.12*

Makes you do a survey for a plan only to tell you right at the very end that it costs money. At least make it obvious from the start if it’s paid so I don’t waste my time.

### 1/5 — Terrible support team

*2026-03-06, version 1.12*

I’ve had to spend a lot of money on the premium option right, because they don’t have a trial plan. In my app has had heaps of problems, and not been working properly. I have tried contacting them several times however they won’t even respond. Really unhappy and I would love my money back

### 1/5 — Very misleading

*2026-03-02*

Don’t make me build a plan and spend time on the app for 20 minutes without even showing the pricing options. I don’t want to give you seven dollars a week to get me off my phone. That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen. Ai slop app

### 1/5 — Cost Money

*2026-02-07, version 1.12*

One more app that sucks money from you. Too bad I didn’t know that until after I filled everything out.

### 1/5 — DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY

*2026-02-01*

I hate that they don’t do free trial period and now I see why. I paid for the yearly subscription cause I really liked the idea of it but the app doesn’t even function properly. I chose to block apps after 4 hours of use and it randomly blocks it after over 8-9 hours and all you have to do it open their app again and boom all the apps are unlocked. No need to do any activity. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best app I’ve ever used!!!

*2026-05-08*

I have lost 20kg by using this app. My screen time has gone down by 80% percent. My parents are showing me love and appreciation me again. I am so grateful for this app it has changed my life forever!

### 5/5 — It works!

*2026-01-30*

I still haven’t figured out what I have to do to unlock the apps, but it’s working because the app is so confusing that I just exit after 30 seconds of trying to figure it out. I haven’t been on social media for a week now.

### 5/5 — Great

*2026-01-14*

Honestly I though it was going to be just another app that you had to pay for a subscription but actually you don’t and I think it’s pretty cool

### 5/5 — Honest review as a student (plus improvements)

*2025-11-08, version 1.05*

Nabbed a subscription for a year for 20 quid and so far it’s been great. Although the data isn’t synced on both my iPad on phone its probably even better since now i need to complete 2 things. I genuinely used to scroll as soon as i woke up but now even if i fake the task i still need to wait like an hour and by that point I don’t want to scroll anymore so I don’t even have to fake doing it. I believe i my screen time has fallen down and i tend to watch more long form content since i didn’t block YouTube but blocked insta and TikTok. I do recommend this app and my suggestion would be to add a smaller goal because as a student my goal almost every day is to study but sometimes i have other goals and it would be nice to have a function like that

### 5/5 — Love this app

*2025-10-18, version 1.04*

I think it’s pretty good, cuz you will eventually stop doom-scrolling and use that time for a better thing

### 5/5 — Why

*2025-10-17, version 1.04*

Just another one of those apps that does help yes I will not lie it looked good and then when I got in payment 1 week free trial if you really wanted to help us it would be free. Now I know I sound kinda rash but I do also understand putting in the work and effort for this app that you want to help people but people shouldn’t have to pay for help.

### 5/5 — Cost

*2025-10-01, version 1.02*

Hope fully this doesn’t cost money cause if it does it’s a 1 star ngl

### 5/5 — The pest app in my phone

*2025-09-30*

It really benefits

### 5/5 — Deadass it’s good

*2025-09-30, version 1.02*

Helps me get off my phone and be productive. Great app and highly customisable too. Love it! 🤩

### 5/5 — Love this - hope they add new blocks!

*2025-09-25*

This app not only broke me from the wake-up-scroll trap, it also helped me have little to no desire to open most of these apps. I find that I am less interested in my usual scroll activities after completing my One Thing, and it’s set me up for good habits the rest of the day. Love the streak, and the initial blocks. It would be awesome to have a block for chores! Dishes/laundry/cleaning or one for meal prep / cooking / a healthy meals. Thanks for creating this! Keep it up!
