These dropouts cause my receiver to act strangely and even lock up, requiring me to go through the hassle of performing a hard reset. So zufrieden ich mit der Hardware von Onkyo/Pioneer bin, die Software ist eine Katastrophe. So wurden der Onkyo NCP-302 als auch der Pioneer MRX-3 bis heute nicht über WLAN erkannt, so dass nur mit Hilfe eines Fritz-Repeaters und LAN-Anschluss (über LAN-Kabel wurden die Boxen problemlos erkannt) ich das Multiroomdesaster fertigstellen konnte. Die App läuft sehr instabil, einzig die Radiosender laufen zuverlässig. Bei meiner anderen Musik (nutze Amazon-Music und Apple-Musik) gibt es oft nervigen, weil lang dauernden Verbindungsaufbau, ständig Verbindungsabbrüche bis hin zur Fehlermeldung, dass keine Verbindung möglich ist. Die App ist "ansonsten" sehr gut durchdacht, Lautsprechergruppen, in den Gruppen schnell Lautsprecher abwählen/anwählen bzw. die Musikquellen wechseln, alles möglich. Synchronisation zu allen Lautsprechern und zentrale Lautstärkeregelung funktionieren gut. Eindeutig die Aufforderung an die Entwickler, viel mehr zu tun um die Voraussetzung zu schaffen, dass Multiroom nicht zu Multistress mutiert. Beim jetzigen Stand der App sind die 3 Sterne schon ausgesprochen gnädig bewertet. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Nachtrag 6.11.: Fairerweise möchte ich nachreichen, dass wohl einiges bei den App-Entwicklern der Onkyo/Pioneergruppe passiert ist. Meine beiden Onkyo bzw. Pioneer-WLAN Boxen wurden jetzt ohne Probleme per WLAN erkannt, so dass Multiroom in 4 Räumen perfekt synchron und für mein Gehör in toller Qualität endlich dauerhaft vorhanden ist (die Lautsprecher bleiben kostant in der App erhalten, lassen sich einzeln oder in Gruppen ansteuern und können an- und abgewählt werden. Lautstärkeregelung über alle Boxen und einzeln funktioniert einwandfrei. Die Stabilität ist nicht mehr vergleichbar mit der Anfangskatastrophe. Es läuft seit den Updates stabil. Hier und da noch etwas feilen, die Musikdienste noch etwas erweitern (z.B. vermisse ich die Einbindung von bekannten Clouddiensten, wie Dropbox, Box etc.), da dort einiges meiner Musik liegt und eine bessere Tuneln-Verwaltung (jedesmal müssen die gehörten Sender wieder neu ausgewählt werden, Senderlisten bekomme ich über die App in Tuneln nicht hin. Also jetzt kann man schon 4 Sterne vergeben. ### 1/5 — Keine Verbindung *2017-08-28, version 4.00* Die App findet meinen NCP-302 nicht, obwohl die neueste Firmware installiert ist. Die App Onkyo Controller kann dagegen auf den NCP-302 zugreifen. Im Netzwerk ist also alles korrekt. Bitte dringend nachbessern. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Garbage for Tidal Hi-Res *2026-02-23, version 8.30.12* Like others have said, this simply does not work consistently. I can use the mConnectHD app with Tidal and play Hi-Res, some bugs, but nowhere near as bad as this. Will anyone ever fix this? Anyone giving this more than a one star rating is clearly not using for Tidal Hi-Res. ### 1/5 — Stops after 4 seconds *2025-01-26, version 8.30.12* Music stops playing after 4 seconds into a song. The app stops at 4 seconds and music never play on my Onkyo receiver. This is exactly what happened last year with the main playfi app when it updated bricked it. Need to tell everyone to just download the original dtsplayfi app. It gets the updates to work, this does not. This is exactly what happened last year with the main playfi app when it updated bricked it. ### 1/5 — アップデートは慎重に *2023-06-10, version 8.30.12* TX-8390に使っていましたが、アップデート後はつながりにくい、つながっても一曲再生すると止まる、2曲目4秒で必ずフリーズするで使えない状態です。 バグの修正を速やかにお願いします。 ### 1/5 — Invasive privacy policy and offers me nothing that AirPlay doesn’t *2021-06-20, version 5.11* The first time I tried using the app and despite having a compatible Onkyo Receiver and current version of iOS, *and* placing the device next to the WiFi router during multiple set-up attempts, the set-up process failed to see or connect to anything even with multiple restarts of all the devices. Which turned out to be a hidden blessing because I just read the privacy policy, which says that users agree to let Onkyo track everything you do with the app (such as the songs you listen to) and states that the data is *not* anonymized or aggregated, but rather tracked to each user individually, including their email address, postal address, phone number, employer, etc. for the purpose of marketing to the user. No thanks. Update from June 2021: Tried to give the app a second chance. Invasive privacy policy is still in place. Unlike my previous attempt, this time the app found my Onkyo receiver and was able to stream standard audio (no different or better than AirPlay 2), but when I tried to setup the app for hi-res and surround, the app claimed it couldn’t find the wired speakers connected to the Onkyo receiver and trying to use the automated setup wizard in the app was futile because the automated wizard only works with a single Onkyo receiver (not the one I have) and insists I consult the receiver’s manual for detailed instructions — and the receiver manual doesn’t provide any instructions for setting up the app beyond installing it, linking the app with my streaming services, and selecting Play-Fi as the streaming connection from my phone to the receiver. So…I don’t really understand the point of this app if it just duplicates AirPlay 2 features and adds nothing. And I don’t understand why the Onkyo receiver includes the Play-Fi capability if it’s not able to support the hi-res or surround playback functions touted as the app’s features. Deleted the app a second time. ### 1/5 — Lose connection *2019-12-21, version 5.11* This thing works for about 10 mins then all of a sudden it loses connection and starts searching for connection. It does it over and over. My receiver is plugged directly into my Ethernet switch and my phone never loses connection so it’s obviously this app that’s the problem.
