### 1/5 — Help

*2016-11-22, version 1.64*

App works overall but it does not remember my settings. When I back out of the app and go back in it's as if I never changed a setting. Other than that it's great for me.

### 1/5 — Useless as a remote most of the time

*2016-09-15, version 1.64*

After updating my receiver hardware, making sure the latest firmware is installed, giving the receiver a static IP, hard-wiring it to the network, I've decided Onkyo just makes a terrible network-connected receiver and/or app. Most of the time the app can't locate the receiver. It seems it has to be unplugged and plugged back in to come back. If this is poor app programming or poor firmware / status monitoring on the receiver side I don't know.

### 4/5 — Great app

*2016-06-10, version 1.64*

I'm happy to announce that this app is a money saver since my Onkyo remote volume control stop working now I have full control via my iPhone and other than that my home theater system functions well true this app highly recommend not sure what happened to the person with the negative review.

### 1/5 — Used to work fine

*2016-04-15, version 1.64*

Used to work great for quite some time but no longer the case. Doesn't work at all now. Please fix.

### 1/5 — Doesn't work

*2015-07-24, version 1.64*

This app has been driving me crazy for months. It has never worked even once, and there is no information on how to GET it to work. No help button; nothing online, etc.

### 1/5 — Terrible!!!!

*2015-06-06, version 1.64*

Just got my patio sound installed and the app seemed to be a really good solution to control my music from outdoor;... Well it turned out to be useless because keeps crashing every time I open. I have re-installed the app around 7 times with the same outcome, even reset my phone and still the same... Very frustrating!

Onkyo team, if you care about your customers, the do something!!!!! And BTW the remote 3 app is even worse than the version 2; spotify menu has no options.... Really bad. I am thinking on returning the receiver just because of this app.

### 1/5 — Total Junk App

*2015-05-03, version 1.64*

Onkyo Product Managers...this is the worst App I've ever used, keeps crashing, shutting down, causing my brand new receiver to freeze up. I've tried restarting my iPhone 6, reinstalling the App, unplugging the receiver and plugging it back in. How can you put out a technology product like this??? Also, even when the App is not crashing, you can't make any adjustments to any of the speakers other than the very basic Trebble/Bass/Center. If I'm watching a movie, I have disrupt the movie to get into the OSD just to turn up one of the Surround Speakers. I'm boxing up my Onkyo TX-NR636 right now and it's going back to Best Buy just out of principle!!!

### 1/5 — Not working

*2015-03-25, version 1.64*

Since updating to iOS 8.2 the app no longer works tried reinstalling with no luck this also applies to the remote 3 version, hope an update to fix it comes out soon

### 1/5 — Keeps Looking

*2015-02-24, version 1.64*

Why will it not find my receiver?? The previous version worked fine. Please UPDATE!!! Have to keep hitting reconnect 3 or 4 times to connect then it loses it!

### 1/5 — Useless

*2015-01-29, version 1.64*

This app can't find my receiver so what's the point of having it on my iPad Air?

### 1/5 — Please fix this asap

*2015-01-22, version 1.64*

This worked before the recent update. But now i cant find my receiver on the network at all. I updated my receiver as well with no luck. I need this working for the Superbowl!!!!!! Come on.

### 1/5 — Mondeo man

*2015-01-22, version 1.64*

Congratulations you just made a rubbish app, even worse with your update, at least it worked before (just) now it's totally useless. Will only adjust volume bass and treble! The network features don't respond,, the actual remote for the unit is very awkward to work network radio so now I can't hardly use it. I'm half tempted to sell the receiver for a another brand

### 4/5 — Finally!

*2015-01-19, version 1.64*

Thanks so much! Finally a update that has fixed all the crashing.

### 2/5 — Can't find receiver

*2015-01-18, version 1.64*

### 1/5 — Huh?

*2015-01-15, version 1.64*

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not upgraded for iOS upgrades

*2020-08-09, version 1.64*

Not able to use it and other Onkyo apps do not support my tx-nr414. My tx-nr575 works fine with supported Onkyo controller app.

### 1/5 — Update

*2018-10-02, version 1.64*

Please update this app to work with the new iOS and I will give 5 stars.

### 1/5 — Update to iOS 11

*2018-09-30, version 1.64*

I have just downloaded the iOS 12 update. Before I continue using this app the developer needs to update the app itself. Please take care of this.

### 1/5 — Cannot he used with ios 11

*2017-11-29, version 1.64*

App need to be updated, will not work with ios 11.
Awesome app with the receiver if it’ll work.

### 1/5 — Needs to be updated

*2017-11-28, version 1.64*

When will this be updated so it will work with the latest update?!

### 1/5 — Updating app for ios 11.1 or later

*2017-10-16, version 1.64*

I cannot use my iPhone app because it has no been updated to be used with the current ios 11.1 !!!! When it be uddated?

### 1/5 — An update??

*2017-10-15, version 1.64*

When should Onkyo users expect an update to this remote app? It’s been two years since the last one and now it isn’t compatible with iOS 11.

### 1/5 — Needs update!

*2017-10-15, version 1.64*

I can’t use this app at all now and can’t fully use my sound system without it!

### 1/5 — Horrible bugs

*2017-02-19, version 1.64*

Got it to connect but as soon as I make a change or play music it shuts off… I would not buy another Onyko. Any app developer who has half a brain could get this to work… Shows they don't have what it takes to keep up with technology

### 1/5 — Keeps crashing!

*2016-12-07, version 1.64*

App is good when it works but it crashes all the time! I would expect much better from Onkyo.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great! Better than 3

*2016-04-01, version 1.64*

Connects faster than 3 which is odd. Also maintains a more stable connection. Highly recommended.

### 5/5 — Works great

*2015-03-24, version 1.64*

I use it all the time with my receiver.

### 5/5 — As good as the physical remote

*2015-03-09, version 1.64*

Having read previous reviews I was doubtful of the usefulness of this app but it turns out an excellent addition to the 535 amp I have.

As far as I can make out from a week of using it it has all the main functionality the physical remote has. For some reason it does not show in the App Store as an iPad app but it works equally well both on my iPhone 6 and iPad Air.

I particularly like the auto wake up feature of the amp I have the app linked to when I connect the iPhone to the amp with Bluetooth. And I don't have to turn on the TV to see the menu.

Full marks from me.

### 5/5 — Thanks for the bug fixes

*2015-01-17, version 1.64*

I like this much better than Remote3. And now that you fixed the crashes, I'm happy again.

### 5/5 — Works extremely well and greatly improved

*2014-07-26, version 1.62*

This app has reached a maturity level that basically makes it fully meet my expectations. I have a 717 AV receiver and an iPhone 5 and it just works great. I use it mainly to play back DLNA music files and network radio. It works fast, reconnects real quick on app relaunch and picks up exactly from where it left off.

I bought initially bought the oRemote app because this one was lacking. Now this one far surpasses it.

Great job Onkyo!

### 5/5 — Fantastic app for Onkyo Receiver

*2014-04-02, version 1.61*

This app is what makes me enjoy having the Onkyo receiver I purchased. I have in-ceiling speakers in my house which all connect at one location in my family room. One set is upstairs in a bedroom which makes using a remote unviable. The fact that I can control the receiver through a wireless connection with my phone makes the functionality everything I wished for including the ability to turn it on and off so I don't cook components over night. While it is a great receiver - without this app I would not nearly be as happy and satisfied with the purchase for my home audio configuration.

Thank you - please keep up the functionality and improvements!

### 5/5 — WORKS GREAT!!

*2014-02-14, version 1.52*

Don't have any of the problems that everyone is complaining about. I'm using the NR-626. Maybe it works better with certain models??? I have complete control of my receiver anywhere in my home, and it works all the time. Fantastic app!! Good job Onkyo!

### 5/5 — What a Wonderful World

*2013-11-27, version 1.52*

So if you didn't grow up standing by the TV manually changing channels for your old man while he tried to decide what to watch on one of only seven channels you got you may not truly appreciate today's tech marvels. Lying on the chaise drinking wine, watching the fire while listening to Vivaldi, and oh no! The remote is across the room! But wait! My iPhone is right here, let's download an app from Onkyo in 30 seconds and adjust the volume; what a wonderful world.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2013-06-19, version 1.51*

Guys love this app, I use it heavily, though may I suggest a simple update. When increasing/decreasing volume, show the number on the phone.

### 5/5 — Onkyo remote with Nr717

*2013-05-18, version 1.50*

This app has been wonderful, especially for 2nd zone utilization. For controlling the 2nd zone, it is much more intuitive than the regular remote. you can visually see what is actually powered on (main amp, 2nd zone, 3rd zone, etc) and you can rename the zones within the app as needed.
Also, the ability to stream music from itouch/iphone directly to the reciever is also pretty sweet.
The app is so intuitive, my seven year old figured it out in about 3 minutes.
