## What is Onward Facing Yoga?

This innovative yoga app provides insightful instruction to yogis from all corners of the practice. Going beyond a single yoga system, each sequence builds on svadyaya (self-study) to help everybody discover their anatomy, energy, and mind.

Onward Facing Yoga is a free app with five sequences and full functionality. The paid version includes an additional six sequences, 11 sequences in total.

Choose a sequence that best meets your needs and abilities, then press play. You’ll be guided with accurate, easy-to-follow instructions. You can also customize your practice to fit your schedule by lengthening or shortening any sequence.

For yoga teachers: Each sequence includes a guide sheet with English and Sanskrit names of every pose and cues that tie the practice together. You can use this app as material for a class you’ve just been asked to sub for in 15 minutes or as a springboard for developing your own ideas.

The sequences are designed and led by Pittsburgh-based Richard Gartner, who cultivates an exciting independent spirit in yoga. He fosters a non-dogmatic and compassionate attitude about students' faculty and circumstances.

### 5/5 — Great yin practice

*2020-01-26, version 0.0.40*

I love the yin sequences. When I don’t feel like doing hot yoga I open his app and I usually pick a yin sequence. Ahhhh. So nice. I always feel very relieved and relaxed

### 5/5 — Amazing app for practicing yoga with pre-teens

*2019-09-22, version 0.0.40*

My anxious and energetic 11 year old son and I have been practicing the shorter sequences in this app in the morning and before bed. There has been a noticeable impact on his focus, energy levels and mood.

The simple imagery of the postures helps you understand how to approach the pose, while the detailed cues help you make subtle adjustments to you body without looking at a screen.

The peaceful music and encouraging narration helps settle the mind and fully enjoy the practice.

Thank you dearly for making this app. I can’t wait to see how we advance together with time.

🙏

### 5/5 — Best Yoga App so far

*2018-03-22, version 0.0.40*

The instruction is very clear. I love how I can pace the poses to hold for longer and even “rewind” a pose to do it again.

This is a very high quality app and the instruction is very thoughtful with intuitive cues for alignment. Easy to understand the audio too so I’ll be sharing with my Mom.

### 5/5 — Essential Yoga App

*2018-01-16, version 0.0.40*

Whereas many yoga apps run you through a sequence, Onward Facing guides you through the sequence with the possibility to explore your own practice.

RG has offered more information at the bottom of sequence with key points for each pose. It is also nice to have the common and Sanskrit name of each pose.
App also allows you to move ahead to next pose or other side easily if lacking time to hold full count without disrupting practice.

Namaste ~ a

### 5/5 — Awesome yoga sequences with a lovely design

*2017-04-12, version 0.0.40*

This app has great, thoughtful sequences with a lovely design using creative illustrations rather than the typical photo.

The vocal cues and teaching are insightful and challenging.

### 5/5 — Great Yoga app

*2016-01-19, version 0.0.1*

I have been a student of Richard’s for 5 years now so I know this review is slightly biased, just throwing that out there. Using this yoga app is like having a private lesson with Richard wherever and whenever you are. Each lesson is carefully laid out, straightforward to do and very enjoyable. Richard’s soft guiding tones along with the quiet background music helps me get into the zone very quickly. Thanks Richard!

### 5/5 — Love this app!

*2015-12-06, version 0.0.1*

There is nothing I don’t love about this app! Clear, concise and pleasant verbal instructions; relaxing, unobtrusive music; crisp, clean graphics; and a variety of interesting, easy-to-navigate sequences. All-around excellence! Thank you for creating this. Namaste, Richard.

### 5/5 — Awesome app!

### 5/5 — Thank you!!!

*2015-09-16, version 0.0.1*

Thank you Richard. This app far exceeded my expectations. It is so easy to follow. Definitely the best yoga app I have used. You can adjust the volume of the music and the voiceover. You can even look at an overview of the poses before you begin the practice so you have an idea how it will flow. I also like the varied length of the sequences - 20 mins on those days when I can’t dedicate much time and 82 minutes when I need to immerse myself. Namaste!
