### 5/5 — Ultra sick sequencer

*2022-04-30, version 1.0*

This is helpful for my oxric attempted arps and so much other cool stuff. I love all the little nooks and options. Hails

### 5/5 — Welcome aboard

*2022-04-29, version 1.0*

Love ZOA, and this is another level in the evolution of midi sequencers… speaking as a Seq’s addict 😜

### 5/5 — Impressive

*2022-04-29, version 1.0*

Just started learning and I see a ton of potential with this app! Compared to the $$$$ one might spend on hardware, this is a gem for the iOS platform. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Shiny new toy

*2022-04-29, version 1.0*

Like Zoa after a visit to obedience classes and all for price of a beer. Also works well on a Mac. If you’re at all interested in generated music, it’s a no-brainer.

### 5/5 — A Stunning app that needs to be apart of everyone’s arsenal!

*2022-04-29, version 1.0*

This is by far the most fun I have ever had with a sequencer and calling it a mere sequencer is doing it a serious disservice. After watching several of the tutorials and Doug Woods live stream I finally decided to have a go. I cannot describe the feeling of just tweaking different things and listening to the result instantaneously, including being able to add easily to the composition while it was playing. Brilliant app that every person that uses iOS for music making should have! I give this a 20 on a ten scale!

### 5/5 — Excellent in both modes of operation!

*2022-04-29, version 1.0*

Liking, especially, the stand alone mode. I already have their ‘living sequencer’. OODA is a good addition. Straightforward and easy to use. Wormholes in a synthesizer. Who’d thought? 🤓

### 5/5 — Brilliant!!

*2022-04-28, version 1.0*

Can't get enough of this amazing creation. My first auv3 review BTW - amazing work

### 5/5 — Love it

*2022-04-28*

I love this. A perfect example of simple rules leading to complex musical ideas. (The dev’s other app ZOA is also worth checking out too)

**Developer response:** Thanks for the kind review!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2022-06-13, version 1.0.1*

I want my money back. The sequencer is a joke.

### 3/5 — Preview, See and Edit Notes in Steps

*2022-09-07, version 1.0.1*

Is it possible to press each step in the sequence or to play the steps manually? Also, when we press each step, can we see the notes on the keyboard and edit the notes.

The preview is really important if we want to hear and modify a step.

### 4/5 — Fun sequencer but please add automation

*2022-05-20, version 1.0*

This is a great little step sequencer. I really like it. The workholes are fun and everything you’ve read about the app is true. I would Love it if I could “record” and automate the Live performance buttons into a performance. The Bump hang and shift keys work well and I find myself wishing I could play my sequence and Record the buttons as I play them live. I notice everytime I play the app I think wow that was great. Shame I couldn’t have recorded those live performances in automation and export the midi.
Great app. Get it. Hopefully the developer will see the potential and update with even more features

### 4/5 — Almost Perfect

*2022-05-09, version 1.0*

This is so close to being my favorite way to sequence on iOS, It’s fast and deep and once you learn to use it allows you to shape really interesting sequences. I’ve already lost hours just playing with portal rules. However, I think the ability to quantize the output to a scale and the ability to use the keyboard to transpose the sequence is missing and would push this to the best sequencer hands down for both compositional and live use.

### 5/5 — Very Inspiring!

*2026-01-02, version 1.1*

Great fun right from the start and as deep as you want it to be once you’ve got your head around all the possibilities. Can I make one request, though; could you make it possible for the four voices to start at different points and move at different speeds and directions, please? Then it would be perfect.

### 5/5 — Wow OODA

*2024-03-26, version 1.1*

I like that you can sequence up to 4 voices and time shift each individual voice.. nice interface and lots more! Does it need a scaler though?

### 5/5 — Deep and fun!

*2023-10-05, version 1.1*

By far my favorite sequencer. The voice panel, and the fact that it is separated from the steps is very powerful. Be sure to check out the tutorials on YouTube.

Two improvements I’d love to see:
— copy/paste of steps
— and maybe an option to see which notes have been recorded into each step

### 5/5 — Deep and fun!

*2023-10-02*

Wow! By far my favorite sequencer. The Voice panel, and the fact that it is separated from the steps is very powerful. The UI is set up thoughtfully and very easy to master.

So good, and easy to get lost for hours in it. Be sure to check out the tutorials on YouTube.

If anything, sometimes I’d love to have an option to see which notes have been recorded into each step. But maybe this would make things too convoluted, idk. The current balance between complexity and simplicity is perfect.

### 5/5 — Another Creative Tool!

*2022-09-07, version 1.0.1*

This developer’s apps are fantastic. Very inspiring creative tool. Creates evolving patterns. Really fun to use as a discovery tool.

### 5/5 — So much fun!

*2022-09-07, version 1.0.1*

Thank you Ryan. This midi sequencer is really fun with a lot of options. I already have a lot of midi sequencers but this one is different. Fun, intuitive + we always can watch your tutorials on YouTube if we want to dive deep into the sequencer. I do not use all the options, but it well worth my money only for the options I use. Works A++ in AUM. Are you working on a new app? Great job!

### 5/5 — Ooda is something special

*2022-08-08*

there are now a lot of such midi tools. Ooda is highly recommended. there is so much to discover, so many surprises, so much to learn and experiment. and so much fun...

**Developer response:** Thanks for the kind words! Glad you're enjoying OODA.

### 5/5 — Great sequencer with a rare feature: Step recording!

*2022-06-10, version 1.0.1*

I love “Berlin School” type sequencing - mostly on hardware synths. Today I would say that this is the ideal app. On one hand feature rich, on the other not too complicated and a very clean UI. Ideal for jamming. Having proper step recording is a BIG bonus for people like myself, who don’t like fiddling with piano rolls or sequencer sliders, and who are not born piano players.
Song mode or the ability to cue various patterns would be a great feature.

### 5/5 — Excellent!

*2022-05-06, version 1.0*

Seriously, what cmrucco said. “Just get it”

Yup, he’s spot on!
I play with lots of sequencers just for fun.
I treat them like MIDO Lego audio blocks.

This this is looking to be one of my favorite tools.

I’m going to dig in and definitely come back and give a proper review for.

But, yes, just buy it. It’s that good.

Load up a preset and hit play and have fun! Just have no expectations, dig in and start flipping buttons and pressing on the icons, stunningly interesting stuff comes out!

The more i explore it the more i get fascinated with it, that’s after just 30 minutes with it, yup.

One little teeny nagling thing, have it start, the first time on a fresh install, with a preset loaded would be, i think, helpful.

Thanks!

### 5/5 — Brilliant Midi Sequencer

*2022-04-30, version 1.0*

I’m a huge fan of midi fx apps, especially the ones with some semi-generative features. Zoa (developers other midi app) is amazing, I highly recommend it, but OODA is even better. OODA is phenomenal. It’s my new favorite midi sequencer. This app is capable of doing so many interesting, useful, fun, & musical things. It’s easy to get chords, arps, bass lines, and leads all coming out at the same time. The main sequencer let’s you record a note, or multiple notes into any step, and then set several parameters. Then you have 4 individual midi lanes each with their own settings, patterns, adjustments, etc… to create tons of possibilities. The wormhole portion makes this thing even better since you can apply all kinds of movements, rules, and behaviors to the main sequencer. Honestly just buy it. I was on the beta and I purchased it on release day, which is actually rare for me. Usually if I am on a beta version, I don’t always spring to buy an app when it’s released, I wait a little. However I liked this one so much I had to have it. IMHO OODA is one of the best apps of 2022. Well Done Audio Symmetric!
