Whenever I attempt to use automatic password entry (OS integrated or 1Password), OOTP23 frequently crashes. When I can login there are things missing on mobile, or at least I cannot find them. Mostly the league leaders by team such as which team (not player) leads the league in ERA, or OPS, etc. I mostly want to use the mobile app for keeping track of my Perfect Team and league performance. I don’t have any of these issues with the desktop app on Windows or macOS, and truly enjoy the addictive experience of building a team/franchise and driving them to excellence. ### 3/5 — Fun but annoying *2022-11-06, version 23.08.0980120* This game is fun. That being said, on historical saves there is no minor league complex or draft. Another issue is that Ai teams win 130 games a year. I won 106 games and was 7 games out of the wild card. I had to stop playing a save because I ran out of money and players. Another thing is that some teams don’t have enough players then you can’t play. What was already a pay-to-win game got turned into a pay-to-even-be-able-to-progress game. You earn points at a crawl, and what was probably my favorite part of the original, Perfect Draft, has been completely ruined as you have to sign up 4-6 days in advance to even get a spot in one where you can win a card vs doing 2 or 3 per day. They did improve the auction house - making it easier to search for cards and improving how cards are bought and sold. But that’s it as far as improvements go. Just a few of the issues… You have to physically enter your login info almost every time, even when selecting the “remember me” button every time. The settings can never be saved…this was an issue on OOTP Go as well. It doesn’t matter how many times you try to change them and submit your team to save the settings, they’ll be changed back on your next login. When setting depth charts, if I set it for one player to sub for LF every 2nd game, CF every 4th game, and RF every 6th game, it will sub that player for LF every other game and never sub for CF or RF. And if you have 3 right handed relievers all set for “normal” usage middle relief, one of them will never get used and the other two will get used all the time, and it’s not even the higher rated players. There are dozens of examples similar to those where the functionality of the game is significantly worse than it was in the previous version. I can’t properly review the game because IT ALWAYS CRASHES JUST BEFORE THE ACTUAL GAMEPLAY BEGINS! ALWAYS. I contacted their customer service. To their. Refit, they got back to me within 8 hours asking for a debug report…which I sent. And now, over a week later … crickets. The baseball season and my patience is soon ending. Ready to demand a refund. This happens most often to me while doing a draft. I’ve lost entire 40 round drafts because it never bothered to auto save. It’s brutal. It’s so easy to maneuver and scroll through screens and data, and I’m amazed how well the information is presented. The screens look great on an iPad Pro. I love that the historical seasons that I bought for last year’s OOTP GO app could be imported seamlessly into OOTP GO 23. ### 5/5 — Bargain *2022-08-09, version 23.06.0780060* This is a new and substantially improved version of the original online game, that was solid in its own right. Yes, the app is free, and you get the 1931, 1971, and 2001 MLB Seasons with the app. Other seasons can be purchased. The developers were kind enough to facilitate importing seasons previously purchased with the original app. That makes it easier to invest in additional seasons. The setup is intuitive and the gameplay is realistic and challenging. You can play as manager and/or general manager, or simply structure seasons and then sit back and let them play out automatically. There are a myriad of settings to influence how the AI approaches the game, and you can change the rules and mix up the teams and players. The graphics are vivid on a small screen, and capture the competition and flow of the games. This app only pales in comparison to the full desktop version of OOTP, currently 23, which is a comprehensive baseball universe, for Mac and PC, currently priced at $40. That game is the best baseball simulation I have ever played. But of course I can’t always be at my computer, even my laptop. GO gives me the chance to have the familiar OOTP experience on my phone and my iPad, when I travel.
