I just would hate to have spent money on the previous version to not be able to access them here. ### 2/5 — What Happened *2023-08-11* What happened. This version is so buggy and the on field action is horrible in this version. First basemen’s are off the bag getting a throw from other infielders, outfielder running through fences and disappearing, balls hit way foul and are base hits. That just to name a few. And really it’s basically the same game as last years, nothing new except the bugs. I’m beginning to think that this is just a money grab. Kind of disappointing. ### 2/5 — Please fix crashes *2023-07-02* I have been a fan of OOTP for a long time now and this version is simply unplayable with the frequent crashes. I cannot get through more than a couple innings at a time before getting memory management errors. That’s when the game doesn’t outright crash that is. This has always been such a great game. Please take the time to fix the bugs in this version!! ### 4/5 — Screen cut off on iPhone SE *2023-07-02* I have an older phone but the game is still compatible with this device. I am frustrated that the game fits the screen perfectly until you reach the Box Score screen after a game. At that point, the left and right sides of the screen no longer fit. I’ve shrunk the font size to the smallest possible and it still does not fit. An update to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated for those of us with old/smaller phones! ### 2/5 — Crashes way too much *2023-06-28* For a game that crashes about once every hour, you’d think the developers would simply put an auto save feature in the game. I literally cannot get through a 9 inning game without the app crashing entirely. I recommend anyone reading this just plays the computer game. The game crashes frequently and you lose all your progress. After crashes erased an hour of progress on three occasions, I gave up. This has been a problem in previous years games. It’s baffling that they haven’t solved this yet. The font size is a little small, but can be fixed in the settings. There is an auto save feature you can turn on to save as often as you want. When you put in hard work during the off-season, it feels like it pays off when you’re fighting for the division title. There are a few small problems that I feel hold it back though. As minor as a couple may be, I’m posting just in hopes that they get fixed. - there’s a bug that will not allow you to see the Draft Pick Negotiation screen. It just shows a green background instead, forcing you to skip it with the continue button or by going to the managers office. - the text on the home run derby screen overlaps if you change the font size to anything larger than default. You can still work around this and kind of understand what you’re looking at, but it’s a headache for ADHD/ADD people. - you cannot play the home run derby. Or at least I can’t, for some reason. My phone has low memory, so I play with the out of memory setting on and skip 3D gameplay, so that might be the cause, but I’m not yet sure. - scrolling through a window, such as an email or looking through your roster, can be one of those things that takes you out of the immersion of the game. Instead of a smooth scroll that would simulate a mouse wheel on a computer, it scrolls by line. With roster control, this can be determined by how fast you move your finger. With emails, it’s about 6 lines at a time for each registered movement. Emails do have a scroll bar on the side to indicate that you /can/ scroll, and holding down/dragging it can give you a smooth scroll effect, but the size of it on a phone screen makes it hard to get at times. Again, this game is amazing, and none of the bugs I’ve dealt with are game breaking. My biggest complaint is that I didn’t know this game existed sooner. ### 3/5 — Good game but *2023-05-07, version 24.03.052011.1* Does not manage memory that well. Seems to freak out when running. Could use an auto save feature if it’s going to crash that much. Otherwise, well done. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Developers stopped caring *2023-07-01* The game is amazing but as MANY people said it doesn’t handle memory at all. Last year and this year both had huge issues with crashing and saves corrupting. It’s clear that it’s simply a money grab at this point and the developers have no time for fixing their mistakes or anything that takes away from trying to scam people into buying a game, that while amazing, is unplayable due to the issues mentioned repeatedly. ### 1/5 — Love the desktop version but … *2023-06-29* I’ve been playing OOTP since it’s inception and the Apple Store version has been ok in the past … this year it’s buggy and nearly impossible to play. For example, the player search feature is inoperable making it impossible to search for league wide talent you’re considering in a trade. Making it worse is an inability to sort players on a league wide basis because of a zoomed in screen that allows you to only see 3 categories. You cannot search by overall or potential because you can’t see those columns. It’s also missing the commissioner mode which allows you to force trades, adjust contracts, draft for more than your team, etc which was fun for creating a lot of what if? scenarios … what if the Padres didn’t trade for Juan Soto and had all the prospects they sent to the Nationals … create an all traded away team and see how they would do, etc. ### 1/5 — "Memory problems" *2023-06-28* Game is so much fun but crashes mid game on iPad mini4 due to lack of memory. I deleted everything but this game and still get crash or message. Incredibly frustrating. I’m just doing this to get this horrible bug fixed. It’s impossible to edit font size. When I click settings, the button “save” or “ok” or whatever isn’t visible in the screen, so I can’t save the changes I make. Somehow, the game zoomed in way too much randomly without me touching anything. Now parts of the screen are not visible and it makes gameplay difficult. The worst part is that I can’t change the setting myself due to the above 2nd paragraph. This game is a dream come true for us. For a game this complex, I can’t stand idle and watch people leave negative review for a few minor and typical bugs. This game is outstanding, I've been playing since inception and they keep getting better, improving UI/UX, introducing new features. Thank you OOTP and keep it up. ### 5/5 — Perfect franchise mode *2024-02-08* No game has ever gotten so close to the perfect franchise mode like this one. 2k and madden don’t compare and there’s no other phone game even close. I’ve never had an issue with this game and absolutely love it! It takes me back to my days of playing Strataomatic baseball. One question I do have is there any chance that when you play back historical seasons you could also have historical stadiums? Currently playing the 1982 Milwaukee Brewers and would love to see what it’s like with their games at old county stadium! ### 5/5 — honestly dont understand the hate and low ratings *2023-07-24* this is great for what its worth even though the paywall for historical seasons and the current season is annoying the ability to play custom leagues for free cancels out the paywall issues, and even though crashing while playing games and sometimes out of them might be a little annoying I have been able to get by them quitr easily and irdk y people are complaining about the crashing ### 5/5 — Glitchy and Won’t load *2023-04-16, version 24.03.052009* When I tried to load a new 2023 season, when the game was loading all of the content, it got stuck on the down loading rosters screen. This is keeping me from playing the game. I also had an issue when I was able to actually get through to play a 2023 season, that all of the players were named Jim unknown. Hopefully OOTP can get this fixed, I loved last year‘s game and can’t wait to play this year‘s game. I will check back periodically over the next few weeks, and adjust my review if this is fixed. EDIT: it’s working fine now, must’ve been a glitch on my end.
