The interface is user-friendly, and the clean design makes it stand out. It’s amazing how efficiently it finds hidden gems to do in new places. The team behind it seems dedicated to making regular updates and improvements. Whilst I don’t hate trip planning, I really love how Opal makes the process collaborative, whereby everyone in my group can edit the itinerary at the same time. When I found Opal, I was skeptical because I had never used an app to help me plan trips, but I was able to navigate the interface easily and immediately. Not only was I able to actually get my trip out of the group chat, everyone was able to help plan the itinerary so everyone was happy. This app is brilliant! Stumbled upon one of their founder’s TikTok’s so downloaded it to plan my fam’s upcoming trip to Berlin. You can tell the founders are very much still fixing bugs and iterating their design but I LOVE the concept so far…the ability to scroll through experiences filtered for you, like your favourites, and then automatically add them to your itinerary has made the planning process so much easier for me! Made mapping out our days sm easier so we didn’t have to waste time deciding what to do and when to do it. Simultaneously, the people from the rest of the group find it hard to actively contribute their ideas, which can make the whole travel experience sour before it even begins. I really love the concept of Opal and haven’t seen this anywhere else. I went interrailing last year with my friends and planning that trip was an absolute pain, so the idea of an app that plans your itinerary based on your group’s preferences and budget is AWESOME!! I’ve tried Opal out a bit and there’s definitely some bugs to be fixed but I really love the vision.
