## Newest reviews (13 of 452)

### 2/5 — Only ok

*2026-08-15, version 10.5.7*

Works ok, but it doesn’t save favourites, locations, routes etc. Once you exit app and go back in, all saved locations are gone. What a waste of time.

### 2/5 — iPad

*2026-08-13, version 10.5.7*

Seems I can’t add my contactless credit card on an iPad. Even though it is in my iPhone. Says to go to MORE - can’t find more

### 2/5 — Opal card details are not saved

*2026-08-07, version 10.5.7*

This app doesn’t remember the card details. Every time I need to enter details before I top up. Tried delete and re-download still the same issue

### 2/5 — Travel activity Debit card

*2026-08-06, version 10.5.7*

Not available for last 2 days

### 3/5 — Wallet Payment

*2026-07-26, version 10.5.7*

The app is great, but it would be better if the Opal card could be added to google wallet or apple wallet

### 3/5 — Mixed bag

*2026-07-12, version 10.5.7*

Good for trip planning. Terrible for housekeeping jobs like auto topup, changing credit cards, etc.

### 4/5 — Yeah :)

*2026-07-11, version 10.5.7*

Busses are a little late, you need internet for this app (duh) tells you when your bus is late and all the yummy stuff

### 4/5 — It would be very helpful if

*2026-07-04, version 10.5.7*

It would be very helpful if the Opal app displayed how much more you need to spend to reach the daily and weekly fare caps (e.g. “Weekly cap: $5 remaining”). This would make it much easier to plan trips and know when the rest of your travel will be free.

### 1/5 — Live timings?

*2026-06-24, version 10.5.6*

What's the point of this app if the live timings of trains/buses doesn't work?

### 1/5 — Train walking connections have gone

*2026-06-18, version 10.5.6*

Since I updated the app, the “walk to the station” and “walk from the destination station” are not displayed or calculated on my iphone or iPad. When you tap the “Walk” option “no results found. Please try another transport mode or search for a different location”. Is the app now programmed to expect patrons to have a car at the destination station get to where you’re going? I understood “active transport” such as walking and cycling was encouraged. Seems rather pointless to require car connections at departure and destination stations as apparently required by this new version of the app. Most people would assume that walking would be the default means to get to and from stations when close enough to not require a bus connection.

### 1/5 — Cant enter card

*2026-06-16, version 10.5.6*

If u use iphone, each time entering details for topup- you startover again. Stupid UI

### 1/5 — Money

*2026-06-09, version 10.5.6*

Please make it pend money faster

### 1/5 — Too slow

*2026-06-09, version 10.5.6*

I had to wait for long time to use it after depositing my money

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — speed

*2026-08-29, version 10.5.8*

too slow

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work on iPhone

*2026-08-26, version 10.5.8*

It’s impossible to use on iPhone, I have opal app open with the card on screen to pay but as soon as I go to tap on wallet is opened and it uses my credit card instead. And you can’t add opal card to wallet. Ridiculous. Reply: Thanks, but the card is already added.

### 1/5 — Bad experience

*2026-08-18, version 10.5.7*

Cannot register, forget my card all the time, and lose all the details when I switch between apps

### 1/5 — Top up function never works

*2026-08-06, version 10.5.7*

8/10 times I try to top up my opal card through the app the server is down or the app straight up crashes, haven’t been able to use my opal card for 3 weeks now

### 1/5 — Train walking connections have gone

*2026-08-06, version 10.5.7*

Since I updated the app, the “walk to the station” and “walk from the destination station” are not displayed or calculated on my iphone or iPad. When you tap the “Walk” option “no results found. Just updated this app to version 10.5.7 and the trip planner still refuses to provide “walk to the station”and lists only car travel times to the station. What is the logic here? Why don’t your developers add a button to allow patrons to turn off car connections as is likely to be the case for the majority of commuters who walk to and from stations? Isn’t the purpose of this app to provide timetable and trip planning information for the state’s public transport network? If so, why is private car travel even included as a connection option?

### 1/5 — having a lot of issues

*2026-07-30, version 10.5.7*

sometimes i can’t top up because there’s an error in the system, sometimes it’s because i put an “invalid card information” when i literally did it right. Opal has so much problems with it’s system

### 1/5 — It’s 2026

*2026-07-24, version 10.5.7*

ADD FKN WALLET ABILITY FOR THE CARD. NEEDING A PHYSICAL CARD FOR DISABLED AND PENSIONERS IS DISGUSTING

### 1/5 — Terrible user experience

*2026-07-12, version 10.5.7*

It’s hard to log in, add money, or do the basic things needed to use Opal cards. The developers prioritised bells and whistles over the basic functional requirements users need. Did they ever do novice user testing or was the app just tested by the developers?

### 1/5 — Worst app design and greediest public transport system I've

*2026-07-09, version 10.5.7*

Literally have the worst app design ever. You can’t copy and paste when adding cards and if you swipe out to check your card number the field gets cleared.
Worst transport network as well. More expansive than Tokyo Metro or Singapore MRT, but doesn’t work half of the times. Can’t see if you tapped on or off either if you use credit card, the terminal doesn’t show it, nor does the app.
Your inspectors are also power tripping worms,I can’t count how many times I have seen uni students gets bullied because they forget their ID, or homeless people.
I think these goofballs recruit police academy drop outs and because they can’t beat old people in protests they power trip instead, even though they have no detention or identification power.
other states have discount travel, free travel guess what, we don’t have it. International students gets concession in all of Australia except on opal network.
I have lived in Singapore, Tokyo and a few other cities in Europe, and this is genuinely the greediest and worst transport system I’ve ever came across.

### 1/5 — An Unreliable Dog’s Breakfast

*2026-06-24, version 10.5.6*

Transport for NSW advise us to use this app but it has so many shortcomings. The search function & recommended journeys are hopeless & if you do wish to provide transport feedback it’s a very complicated procedure. You get the feeling that Transport for NSW isn’t really interested in what public transport users think or making their journey better. Notifications, try to expand them & hit with unable to connect to server screen. As regular public transport users & staff know better to use other apps NextThere or TripView, even Google & Apple Maps are better, more dependable. Leave the kids learning app development at this app to struggle on & send out their prewritten we need more information messages.

### 5/5 — Quite delighted

*2026-08-04, version 10.5.7*

Hadn’t used opal app for ages thought was rubbish haha since couldn’t add opal card to wallet however the trip planner is very handy idk when they added that in, but it’s very good, keeps you on track to know when to get off the bus since bus stops can be confusing.

Looking forward to more changes or additions I suppose to make the app better
