### 2/5 — Glitchy and useless

*2026-08-22, version 2.45*

that’s pretty much it.

### 3/5 — Web version needed. It’s 2026 and we are still making people download apps for one time use?

*2026-03-25, version 2.24*

Please make a web version where we can just charge as a guest to increase the speed of being able to charge. I had to download the app, sign up, verify my number, verify my email, add my card, add funds, add an amount of funds to be added if my funds run out all before I could even charge. We have been using EV chargers for a while and one thing that annoys us is when we have to do all of the above just to use a charger. When I go to the gas station I do not have to do all of this. I swipe my card, pump gas and move on. Enough with the data collection.

### 1/5 — Ripoff

*2026-03-13, version 2.24*

Tried to use a charger while traveling, added $30 to my account, and the charger didn’t work. I now have a balance I don’t need. Very poor experience.

### 1/5 — STAY AWAY! Absolute scam

*2026-03-10, version 2.24*

They charge you $20 minimum just to use an EV charger. I don't live near OpConnect chargers, I just needed one in an emergency. So I spent $20 for a charge that's only going to be worth $5. What a joke.

On top of that, you have to use the app to use their chargers, and the setup is such a slog. Never using these again.

### 1/5 — steals money

*2026-03-08, version 2.23*

any EV charging platform that forces you to keep a $5 balance on your account at all times is very scammy. want to charge $16 worth of kW? that’ll be $40, please. because the minimum deposit is $20, but if you go under $5.00 then it will automatically charge another minimum of $20. and you can’t withdraw this money when you’re done with the account and never want to use it again (which is very likely, since there are hardly any OpConnect chargers to begin with, on top of the very clunky charging experience and greedy payment options)

### 1/5 — Lets get this a least slightly uodated

*2026-02-26, version 2.23*

Very slow and old UI, also Favorites just empties itself every load. Whats the point if it doesn’t even save.

### 1/5 — Not great

*2026-02-17, version 2.23*

Just offer tap to pay, no one wants your app. Hate I have to have a balance I’m never going to use again. You are just stealing money.

### 3/5 — Updating review because it’s more functional than before.

*2026-02-11, version 2.23*

Update: works a little better now. Still looks like it was designed by freelance contractors in a third world country.

Improve your app! Hire developers that know basic UX best practices for native mobile apps.

### 1/5 — Bluetooth

*2026-01-23, version 2.23*

Who design this app. Nothing work beside getting your money!

### 1/5 — Scam app

*2025-12-15, version 2.22*

This app requires a minimum spend of $20 to even try or start using. They for sure keep any unused funds and roll it into their stake in cryptos. Beware.

### 1/5 — Worst charging app ever

*2025-10-09, version 2.20*

This has to be the WORST charging app ever created. Needed to charge a rental car, found a OPconnect charger as it was the nearest one. In order to charge your car you need to download their app, then you need to put in your email and phone number which you must verify (BOTH your email and your phone number) just to access the app. Then you must manually put in your card details. After all of that you can finally deposit money into your account, which for no reason whatsoever must be a MINIMUM of 20 USD. The absolute worst charging app ever, stay away at all costs.

### 4/5 — Bad AI Customer Service

*2025-09-26, version 2.20*

Edit: Updated rating. There are instructions on the handle, which I missed the first time, on how to extend the cable. My vehicle is now charging at 20 kWh

Edit: Regarding company reply below; That is the number I called, I just checked the photo I took of your instructions to verify.

Tried using one of the chargers near my house. The cable came down from the power pole but was way too short to reach any car. Called the customer service number. Had to listen to several ads trying to sell me car insurance and such. That felt super shady. Then the AI customer service came on and asked what I needed. I said that the cable was too short at my location. It said to call a different number. So I did. The same sounding AI voice asked again what I needed. Again I said that the charge cable was too short at my location. The very next words it said were, “Hang up now”. Super sketch feeling company.

### 1/5 — Stations often offline

*2025-09-09, version 2.19.5*

My business recently changed to OpConnect stations and they often are off line and can’t connect to the station so you can’t initiate the charge. The support line is impossible with no response.

**Developer response:** Hello,

Thank you for the review and feedback. Please use our customer service phone number, 855-885-9571. Our customer service phone number does not have any advertisements. If you are ever at this location again, please follow the posted instructions that are on the power pole. Additionally, after the connector is lowered, to extend cable press the button.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2025-07-18, version 2.19.5*

This is an absolute garbage service. Unlike every other Charge station, it requires you to enter funds to your account instead of charging you as you use the service. I would not use this business ever again.

### 1/5 — Have to maintain a balance to charge

*2025-05-31, version 2.19*

Having to maintain a balance to charge instead of just being billed at the end is a bad system and a rip off as it allows them to hold onto your cash to keep charging

### 1/5 — Ripoff

*2025-05-25, version 2.19*

I needed to download the app to charge at an opconnect charger while out of town. They don’t have these in my hometown so I will only use it once.

You need to reload funds PRIOR to charging. And the minimum amount you can reload is $20. I was forced to give them $20 for a $2.50 charge. How is that anything but a sneaky cash grab?

### 2/5 — One step short of a scam

*2025-05-20, version 2.19*

Don’t expect to pull up and start charging. It will take 5-10 minutes to download the app, create an account w/password, verify both a phone number and an email….

Then, it will force you to ‘add funds’ rather than just pay per charge session. And, it forces you to auto-add funds if drops below a threshold and grant camera access.

Feels like my personal data is actually their product to some degree.

I will be deleting after my session completes and will avoid this company chargers in the future unless something changes from them.

2 out of 5 stars because the charger is actually functioning after giving them everything.

### 1/5 — Charge stations not working

*2025-05-12, version 2.19*

Multiple charger not working for months, one of three station work.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Late stage capitalism

*2026-08-11, version 2.45*

i swear to GOD WHY do i have to scan a qr code to download an app to try to sign in to create an account to make a username to make a password to remake the password bc it doesnt fit your god awful definition of perfection then to give my phone number then to confirm my email then to confirm my phone number then to put in my card details then to give you TWENTY DOLLARS to even start charging then to scan the qr code again (once wasnt enough) to JUST USE THE CHARGER.

### 1/5 — Chargers unreliable

*2026-07-13, version 2.40*

Chargers unreliable legacy place east Brunswick Nj

### 1/5 — No option for customer service

*2026-06-24, version 2.40*

There is no where in the app to request any sort of help with any issues, billing, charging, or otherwise. Like now when the charger won’t stay on for more than 5 minutes. So the chargers suck, this app sucks, and whoever runs this company should be arrested as a complete fraud.

### 1/5 — Balance minimum

*2026-05-30, version 2.30*

$20 balance minimum is ridiculous

### 1/5 — AVOID this company/app

*2026-05-12, version 2.24*

OpConnect is one of the worst public charging vendors. OpConnect, the app AND the chargers fail consistently. OpConnect will also steal your money because they make you preload money, it the. The chargers don’t function and the money just sits there. OpConnect is a scam, avoid them and use other charging providers. Otherwise, OpConnect will fail and leave you stranded without a charge. I hope this company is seriously embarrassed about the subpar products they build.

### 1/5 — Stop asking me rate every single charging session!

*2026-05-08, version 2.24*

The app works, ok fine. But before you can initiate a charge you have to either rate your last session or clear that request. Can I just charge my car please without that annoying step? I’ll let you know when I have a problem except the app has no way to contact anyone so here I am writing this GD review to let you know, stop making me rate my previous charging session every single time and I’ll stop giving you one stars on this rating and your internal ones. Figure it out already!

### 1/5 — STAY AWAY! Absolute scam

*2026-04-10, version 2.24*

They charge you $20 minimum just to use an EV charger. I don't live near OpConnect chargers, I just needed one in an emergency. So I spent $20 for a charge that's only going to be worth $5. What a joke.

On top of that, you have to use the app to use their chargers, and the setup is such a slog. Never using these again.

Edit: If you need to get your funds refunded to your card, close your account in the app settings.

### 1/5 — $20 for an app I will never use

*2026-04-05, version 2.24*

Wanted to use this to charge in a remote town. The minimum balance to start is $20. Feels like a scam since I will probably only use $5.

### 1/5 — Twenty dollar minimum? Get stuffed

*2026-03-31, version 2.24*

Scam

### 1/5 — Stop forcing us to submit a rate for EVERY SESSION

*2026-03-18, version 2.24*

App has a lot of potential but too many awkward hoops just to get a charge. Quick charge doesn’t actually work. I don’t know what is quick about it since you still have to go through two or three steps before you can actually start charging.

But the most annoying part of this app definitely has to go to them constantly forcing you to submit a rating before you can even start going through all the other hoops of charging. There’s no way to automatically set it up to charge. You have to QR code scan, submit another rating, select charger and accept rate and then click accept charge. So pointless and unnecessary! Why make this so hard?

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Happened on chance, customer for life

*2024-03-14, version 2.14.2*

my hotel had this charger on-site and i’ve never heard of it but the app was super easy to use (coming from a tech challenged person). there are a few things that can be improved but no complaints from me!

### 5/5 — Great app, easy to use

*2024-03-07*

Good EV charging app, perfect for fleet, workplace, or multifamily charging. Easy to use, no frills.

### 5/5 — Charging

*2021-05-27, version 2.8*

It was amazing to get a free charge while shopping. You should be at all Walgreens and other shopping locations to help the world be a better place!!!!

### 5/5 — Overall pretty reliable free charging

*2021-05-27, version 2.8*

The mobile status of the chargers are pretty consistent but once in a while you’ll show up thinking it’s free but someone is still plugged in there. It can be pretty frustrating but I’ve noticed this has improved a lot over time. It’s free, so I love what they’re doing but there room for improvement.

### 5/5 — Very nice simple app

*2021-05-27, version 2.8*

I love its simplicity. Not sure if it shows real-time charging - I feel as though I have to log in and out just to be sure what I’m seeing in the screen is current. Would be nice if it actually cuts off charge at 2 hours so that people who abuse the time limit get cut off and others waiting can use it. Can you add more chargers on the Kapolei side of Oahu? That would be great 😃. Thank you for this app. 😃

### 5/5 — Great support, but lacking features

*2021-05-27, version 2.8*

OpConnect responses to concerns about charging stations in Hawaii super fast. The representatives are super nice and comprehensive. The one thing that we don’t like at the chargers is that we never know when one is not working.

### 5/5 — What a great thing!

*2021-05-27, version 2.8*

ad-supported and business sponsored charging! Love it. And the simplicity is the best, so far no need to register for an account etc etc, just plug in and it charges. Thanks guys!

### 5/5 — OpConnect is 100% FREE.

*2021-05-27, version 2.8*

As an EV driver (Tesla), I can tell you that I prefer OpConnect over any of the other level 2 charging stations. Why? First and foremost, Chargepoint, Blink, EVGo costs $$$$ to the consumer (most of the time, sometimes Blink is free). OpConnect is 100% FREE. It makes it free by charging for the advertisements on the electric billboards. Second, the charging stations are physically located closest to the entrance of whatever store/mall/etc it is located. So you get a prime parking/charging location.

### 5/5 — Free charging!

*2021-05-27, version 2.8*

Wow what a great idea! Love the idea, can't wait to see chargers everywhere!!!

### 5/5 — Great Charging Stations!

*2021-05-27, version 2.8*

Thank you to all the advertisers who fund these Charging stations! I always try support your businesses!!
