I was very excited to see what the actual water temperature was where I swim. No reading was done. This is no better than the workout app that comes free on my phone. I tried to use the support feature and it did not work. Maybe this will get a response? I got a response from the developer: turns out many features advertised do not work with many watches. Temperature reading only works on watches with a water temperature sensor. Those watches are: Apple Watch Ultra Apple Watch Ultra 2 Apple Watch Series 10 **Developer response:** Check out the faq page on the website or get in touch with support. ### 1/5 — Did not do what advertised *2024-11-01* I purchased this app with the pro version for the advertised water temperature feature. Maybe this will get a response? **Developer response:** Check out the faq page on the website or get in touch with support. ### 1/5 — Update to previous review *2024-01-29* Today, I received a note from the developer via Apple that said the error “was outside of our control…” Summarily, I managed to get about one month’s use (right after my trial was up) until it bricked, and my only recompense was a push of the blame. Shrug - I guess it’s a $25 lesson. **Developer response:** As mentioned in your support ticket, this occurred after your watch upgraded to a new OS and was outside of our control, despite our best efforts to assist. ### 1/5 — Deceptive: purchase required to even get into the app *2023-12-27, version 2.3* Hate to leave a negative review as I’m also an app developer but it’s very deceptive to offer in app purchases with no functionality without purpose or even a warning of such in the description. Also you find this out ONLY AFTER you download and give the app HealthKit and location access. Be up front in the description or least demonstrate the value of the app to new users please. Happy to update my review as well ### 1/5 — Accurate open water swim track, nice display *2023-08-28* The swim track is the most accurate I’ve found for lake swimming. There are occasional glitches related to poor gps reception on my Apple Watch beyond the ability of the algorithm to correct (such as when smoke from Quebec fires was distorting gps signals), but it’s usually quite accurate. I had a question and the app provider responded almost instantly. ### 2/5 — Used to work *2025-12-02* The app has started asking me to log into my Apple account while I am swimming in the ocean. Of course it's pretty much impossible to do that in the open water. It's too wet, duh; fingers are gloved or too cold; and trying to read the watch screen through swim goggles in rough water--you get the picture. Then, I can't actually use the app to tell me how long I have been swimming, or how far. Of course I have searched the app itself, and Watch settings, to prevent this. No luck. Suggestions???? **Developer response:** It shouldn’t be doing that. You may have to restart your watch. ### 5/5 — Love it *2026-06-21* I’m a senior woman who rediscovered a passion for open water swimming six years ago. Having the Open Water Swim app last season and this has been a motivating and inspiring way to log my swims and track my distance and pace. I’m way ahead if my total mileage and also distance each swim stats from last year at this time. Also, I often swim alone so in a funny way it’s like having a companion that recognizes my effort. ### 5/5 — Save my distance & my watch *2026-06-08* I love this app. I use it all the time when I swim or surf. It saves all my information into my phone & linked to Strava. Plus it also saves my watch by turning on the water safe mode (even though this happens automatically with other apps, but this way I’m sure it’s on)! Also, it’s not as expensive as some other apps, but does the same tasks with quality. The only thing I’m still trying to figure out is how to display my distance in yards rather than miles (like 2000 yds instead of 1.25 miles), I’ll figure it out eventually. 😊⌚️👍🏼 ### 5/5 — Very happy with the app *2025-08-07* Very pleased with the app and support responsiveness (contacted once for a feature request and once for a minor problem). Touch screens can be a bit persnickety but that is not the app’s issue to deal with). Lovely interface and health integration. Had a couple of issues that were fixed and very happy with it. Beats the Apple Workout Open Swim that doesn’t work for me and this works 100%. ### 5/5 — Best open water swim App!!! *2024-06-20* I’m an avid open water swimmer in Montana and this is by far the most helpful app that I have ever used. Love the temperature data as we usually start swimming around 47F in the spring and our lake only warms up to 74F by August so I am always curious what the water temp is while I am swimming. Only big suggestion would be a way to upload to Strava, then the app would be perfection!!! **Developer response:** Love to hear it! Strava Sync has now been added. Enjoy! ### 5/5 — If you swim in open water get this app *2023-03-20* Went out today for my first swim with Open Water Swim App and it worked really well! Stats like pace and distance seem much more accurate than other apps I’ve tried and it was good fun to be able to share a beautiful visualization with friends and family. It was also eye-opening to see how much I swam off-course. Will definitely return to the post-swim stats and maps to gauge progress. Overall, really pleased and recommend highly. ### 5/5 — I really love this app🙌🏊‍♂️ *2023-01-25* The apple watch has a built-in open-water workout but I think it's totally worth the cost. I'm really enjoying it and set it up so it starts from my action button.
