## What is OpenAlarm?

OpenAlarm is the alarm clock for mornings when a normal alarm is too easy to silence.

Build alarms around the way you actually wake up:

• Require one or more disarm challenges: Math, Memory, Steps, Shake, or Scan
• Set a snooze budget so snoozing eventually stops being an option
• Enable a wake-up check that asks whether you are still awake a few minutes later
• Schedule repeating weekday and weekend alarms
• Skip or move one occurrence without changing the repeating schedule
• Start nap countdowns and pause or extend them
• Control active naps from the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island

OpenAlarm uses Apple’s alarm system so scheduled alarms remain dependable. Your alarms and settings stay on your device. There are no accounts, ads, analytics, or tracking.

OpenAlarm is free and open source.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.1.0 — 2026-08-17

Alarm settings now back up to iCloud and come back after a reinstall. You can shuffle between multiple alarm tones. New presets select weekdays, weekend, or every day with one tap. Fixed a bug where changing the time for a single occurrence could permanently change the schedule. The app asks again for missing permissions after a reinstall.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-07-30

This update makes alarms more reliable:
• Fixed a bug where force closing the app during an alarm could stop the backup alarm from ringing again
• Deleting a nap now cleans up fully, so nothing can ring after the nap is gone
• More reliable alarm dismissal in rare edge cases
• Wake-up check and fallback buttons are now easier to tap

### 1.0.1 — 2026-07-21

This update improves alarm reliability:
- Alarms with a skipped or rescheduled occurrence now always show the dismiss screen and tasks
- Snooze respects the configured maximum number of snoozes
- Fixes a rare case where a changed alarm could still ring at its old time
- The dismiss button responds across its full surface
