## What is OpenAthena?

OpenAthena™ is a project which allows consumer and professional drones to spot precise locations through their images. This is accomplished by combining their sensor metadata with digital elevation data to provide the instant location of what is being observed.

### 3.2 — 2026-04-02

Add support for newer Skydio drone firmware which now uses WGS84 vertical datum.  Updated to latest Drone Models database.  Fixed issue where OpenAthena could not send CursorOnTarget messages if iTak was also running.  Fixed issue with app crashing if user moved to different screen while DEM was downloading.

### 3.10 — 2025-06-18

Added support for looking up terrain altitude.  Fixed bug with Autel drone image determination triggered by recent Autel firmware update.  Debug output now includes drone altitude vertical datum specification.  Added ability to pick drone images from Photos or Files using Settings toggle.  Performance improvements due to elimination of debug statements.  Main screen is pinchable/zoomable.  Changed default elevation data model to Copernicus Global 30m DEM.  Settings parameter allows user to switch between SRTM and COP30.  Fixed bug with Autel gimbal pitch degree calculation.

Updated drone models database.  Added support for new Autel and DJI drones.  Fixed issue with drone camera matching for thermal images.  Added focal length override for thermal and visual images that incorrectly report focal length.  Added workaround for Parrot drones which do not report zoom correctly.  Fixed issue with lens distortion correction.  Fixed vertical datum determination for DJI and Auto drones.

### 2.90 — 2024-11-23

Updated drone models database to most recent version. Fixed bug affecting how altitude is converted between WGS84 and AMSL.

### 2.80 — 2024-10-09

Added support for more drones including Teal and DJI Magic 2,3.  Added maritime mode support for geolocation over oceans.  Added warning if an image is from an unknown drone model.  Added support for WGS84 degrees/minutes/seconds output format.  Added support for USNG output format.  Updated drone models database.
