No user input required after setup(: *2024-12-30* I used to use a shortcut to perform the basic function this extension provides. However, this other method required a couple seconds of extra taps to execute. With this extension, after two seconds of setup, that is no longer required. It is now streamlined and simpler to watch when one is shared with me. Plus this extension that the added advanced function of removing extra elements and the many hidden links to the App Store on anything to tap on, which would accidentally happen in the past and I no longer have to deal with. Great job dev! I don’t use social media and I don’t trust TikTok so I refuse to make an account. But I don’t want to live under a rock either, so when my friends send me TikTok videos they like, I will go through the hassle of copying the link and erasing the part after the “?” symbol so I can play it. Now that I have the is extension I can watch the content they shared more easily and avoid having a TikTok account. It is true that no data is collected and the code is open source (https://github.com/kylejohnsonkj/OpenTok) to prove it. The prompt you see when allowing it is required for any safari extension. In this case, it allows OpenTok to run JavaScript that redirects the page so the video can play and apply CSS rules to hide distracting elements. ### 1/5 — 18.2 - does not work *2024-12-16* Enabling the plugin still does not allow videos to be watched and instead takes to TikTok app download link in App Store **Developer response:** Hi! After following the "Verify setup" link in app, can you ensure "tiktok.com = Allow" and "Other Websites = Ask"? Other Websites cannot be allowed otherwise it won't work. After changing that, navigate to a tiktok in Safari (Try it now! link), tap OpenTok in the menu, and tap through the alerts to "always allow on this website". Doesn't work at all. *2024-12-13* Was really excited for this but it doesn't appear to work. The extension is enabled for safari and enabled on all sites as well as tiktok. I chose always allow when the permission window came up. It still doesn't play and prompts me to install tiktok. **Developer response:** Apologies for the troubles! Once you get it working I could improve the setup instructions based on your feedback. :) ### 2/5 — doesn’t work for instagram *2026-04-20* i just wasted $2 lol. this app makes it seem you have full access to instagram but you don’t. you can literally just look at the instagram page, and that’s it. you can’t even click on a post to expand it. a message pops up saying “unfortunately instagram has made it impossible to look at content without creating an account.” ok then what tf was the point of marketing this app for instagram? scammy af **Developer response:** Hey. I’m sorry the purchase did not meet your expectations. My desire is not to be sketchy at ALL, and if anything this means I can and should improve the wording of the in-app purchase. Unlike TikTok, Instagram’s website doesn’t expose the urls for the thumbnails on a creator’s page, so there’s nothing to link to. I will update the wording to make this clear ahead of purchasing. The purchase still does a lot of CSS clean up of the video player, prevents you from accidental redirects, shows an extended description, and more. So GENUIS. I can’t praise it enough for just doing exactly what it’s made to do. It is such an annoying and honestly quite invasive/hostile for these tech companies to force you to not only download but also make an account on their platform to view any content. It is otherwise accessible on web computer browsers, but because I’m using a mobile device they’ve made it so unbearable and impossible to view anything on Safari. This app changes that and I tip my hat to them. Thank you so much. The developer is also quite responsive to issues users may have which is a huge plus! I had issues with Instagram reels not loading. With time and some exchanges between the developer and I, he fixed the issue no problem. Even offered a refund if the problem was taking too long to resolve. I chose to wait. I really appreciate the fact that it works flawlessly with the voiceover screen reader and loved the verify that it's working button because I had to tweak The allow versus ask options in the Safari setting. This is awesome!
