Appointments do not load, flashlight not available during VIN scans which is one of the most important pics and usually in dark door jambs. Nonexistent tech-support. ### 1/5 — Very buggy too many screens *2025-10-02* App glitches and crashes all the time. Has too many screens to complete even basic task. Pop up notifications while in app linger way too long and it won’t let you swipe them away. App forces you to entered same info repeatedly if you minimize app or open different app. Bluetooth connectivity hit or miss. ### 1/5 — OPENLANE app *2025-09-28* App refuses to redownload on my phone please fix ### 1/5 — Lagging *2024-06-06* I sometimes have to hit the circle button to take a picture 10 to 20 times before it will take a picture!!! The app constantly seems like it’s lagging and freezing or it will just close out. I literally went and got a brand new 15 Pro Max because I thought something was wrong with my phone. I should’ve known better it’s this app. This app is horrible.. slows work down terribly. Also dim your phone, so the pictures you take are so dark you can barely see what they look like. I could just go on and on and on with the amount of issues. The AI pictures are just so off. It’s ridiculous. It won’t even take a picture if the sun is out. Please do better and fix these issues. ### 3/5 — Needs 14 pro max functionality *2024-05-07* Can’t take clear photos of vin tags or any close up photos of damage (dents, scratches, paint bubble from body cancer or other damages) without switching to camera, take the photo then uploading from camera roll because the app won’t automatically switch camera lenses like it should. The ability to manually zoom in and out would also be EXTREMELY useful as we don’t always have enough room to stand back far enough to take the photos. More often than not, we are crammed into small spaces with little room to move around. Also need to tap the screen multiple times before the app responds. It’s getting old having to fill my storage with vin plate photos every day and having to stand there tapping the screen multiple times for each thing I do. Ugh…fix it!! ### 4/5 — Update- IPhone 14 Pro Max *2023-08-18* Active inspection specialist. I’m upgrading my phone and got one from a friend of mine for a test run, and I have to be almost a foot away from the ViN to scan it. Vs my old iPhone 12, I can vary between 1in to 6in away and it will be clear and scan just fine. Just hoping for an update that fixes the “auto focus” in the app for these newer iPhones to be used for inspecting. Thank you!! ### 5/5 — Tex *2022-12-17* Great company. From the convenience of my office I can keep my lots filled without having to go the physical auction. ### 1/5 — Lost potential *2022-04-23* There are inspection apps out there that are fluid, have great flow & improve accessibility through technology. This is not one of them. This app was regularly a repeating source of frustration for many reasons. Firstly, numerous crashes & freeze ups causing significant loss of time in the field for which compensation was thin if any at all. This app refused to load and / or connect, lost pictures, & failed to upload entire inspections causing me to have to perform them a second time. Secondly an inspector will need at least three other apps on their phone to work with backlot which I feel completely defeats the point of the app. If other apps are required to support it, that is slowing work flow not increasing. Any functionality added to the app thus far has in my opinion only been to force more work from the inspector, again without any additional compensation for their added duties. I have used a few other inspection apps over the past 8 years , the best of which handled assigning, uploading , tracking inspection count , last & upcoming pay and all other functions of the inspection from within the inspection app. The backlot app only deals with inspections. A separate app is required for scheduling inspections. Another for tracking pay. There is NO way to track your inspection count outside of the count found on the pay stub unless you do it yourself as you go & even then I found discrepancies in pay that I never got any answers for. But if they think they’ve overpayed you by even a few dollars you will definitely hear from them. A separate app is required to support the scan tool that back lot uses & that is a whole separate bunch of issues. I would personally never choose that specific device for any type of vehicle diagnosis outside of an emergency & even then I’d be skeptical. There is no connection to MAPS. Backlot also insists on using numerous other apps outside of messenger (which is perfectly suitable for communicating) and pressures inspectors to use them to the point an inspector may be going back and forth between 6 or more different apps in a day. It becomes a burden on the work flow & the ability of an inspector to do the work efficiently. It was really a huge disappointment. We had a good app, it was simple and easy to use. We had a good system that was also simple and easy to use. Backlot over the past 8-10 months has added layer upon layer of inconvenience to the point that my own productivity dropped significantly. Numerous suggestions had been submitted on improvements that could make the process both more effective & more productive for everyone . Apparently they fell upon deaf ears. ### 1/5 — Scam Company *2021-06-20* They pretend to be innovative company in auto wholesale space, but Inspections and arbitration systems are complete joke!!
