### 2/5 — App issues

*2024-12-27*

They just can not get the filters to work right. So many functions on the app that used to work, no longer work. I constantly have to reapply the filters to get them to work. The more features they add, the worse the functionality gets. Absolutely hate absolute sale. Wait for days for seller response, only for cars to get run up in absolute sale. Only benefits sellers.

They just can not get the filters to work right. So many functions on the app that used to work, no longer work. I constantly have to reapply the filters to get them to work. Push button notifications don’t take you to the car they notify you about. The more features they add, the worse the functionality gets.

### 1/5 — Engine noise

*2024-05-18*

Haven’t been able to hear engine noise for at least 4 months on the app

### 1/5 — Dealer

*2024-03-21, version 5.4.1*

They are shady company dealers should beware!

### 1/5 — Perfect

*2023-12-10*

The auction app works fine. We need to bring (vehicles expire soon) filter available on mobile phones just like website. The (deals to close) filter is not the same! Thanks

### 1/5 — They don’t fulfill their obligations.

*2023-10-02*

I bought the car, and the inspection report had no issues were pointed out that I later encountered, such as a falling off bumper and a hood that doesn’t close properly. They denied me the warranty, even though I paid for it. When a mechanic started looking into the car issue deeply, it turned out that the entire front part of the car was misaligned and needed adjustment.

### 1/5 — SUCH A TERRIBLE ARBITRATION POLICY

*2023-06-02*

They are ridiculous with their policies . They say we will pay for if its under the warranty then that part fails and they are making it sooooo hard to pay you what they promised . I have purchased so far 16 cars from them but i stopped it after their terrible policies . PLEASE GO AND BUY WHAT YOU SEE NOT WHAT YOY CHECK ON THE PICTURE . Promise you ll save so much money.

### 1/5 — Company is in a free fall

*2022-03-26*

Look at all their reviews in the last 2 months on Google, they’re deliberately selling vehicles with hidden issues.

Inspectors avoid taking pictures of damaged and problem areas, then say in the inspection sheet “no damage”. They will not take care of any issues during arbitration. Even when they say it’s covered, they’ll offer a portion of the price or nothing at all.

Avoid this place at all costs, trust me.

### 1/5 — Absolute Dog poop

*2022-03-22, version 3.13.0*

Don’t buy cars through these guys. You will regret it 4/5 times

### 1/5 — Bad Company

*2022-03-20*

Dishonest Company. No titles even after 60 days. No compensation for money spent, or unhappy customers. Doesn’t provide any details. Staff are no help. This company needs to disappear. TradeRev needs to come back.

### 1/5 — Bad inspections and bad arbitration

*2022-02-11*

Bought cars from them, most of them came with problems they didn’t describe in the inspection and when I tried to arbitrate they gave me the run around. Left me to deal with it. I think it’s because they use 3rd party inspectors and they don’t honor there own inspections. Trust me use ACV instead.

**Developer response:** Hi, we’re sorry to hear about your experience with our inspections. We want your experience to be excellent. Please reach out to support@backlotcars.com with your name, email, and more information so that we may assist you further.

### 1/5 — Scam company, will make you loose money

*2021-06-20*

They pretend to be innovative company in auto wholesale space, but Inspections and arbitration systems are complete joke!! Inspection: no engine issues
actual Car: engine knock, multiple codes
BackLot cars rep: It’s your problems, we don’t stand behind anything.
Stay away at all costs or you will be screwed sooner or later

### 1/5 — Expensive vehicles NOT an Honest company

*2021-05-03*

We miss the prices of traderev before this company took over. One time we purchase a vehicle and they ask for it back within a few days of arrival. There view inspection sometimes is not the correct information. Be AWARE of this company folks.

### 1/5 — Scammers!

*2026-07-30*

This company will sell you piles of junk and when you arbitrate, you’ll be stuck with it. Run away!!

### 1/5 — DO NOT BUY CARS FROM THEM

*2026-07-25*

I bought a Kia forte on Openlane that per their inspection had no issues. When the car arrived if was blowing smoke from the tail pipe. I took the car to a dealer as they requested. Kia found the cylinder walls were scored beyond repair and the car needed a new engine. $7700 repair. I forwarded all documents to Openlane. An arbitrator calls me and says they use an internal labor rate of $95 an hour (even thought they don’t do repairs) and he found a used engine at LKQ for $2100. So the best they will do is comp me 3 grand. I do not have a shop that will do the job for under 5 grand because no one does labor for $95 an hour. Now I have to lose money and have a car down for weeks because of their bad inspection. I took it a step further because the seller had bought the car from Manheim. Turns out they tried to arb it for the SAME ISSUE. So now not only is it just plain fraud but Openlane will still not take the car back.

### 1/5 — Not anymore wholesale marketplace

*2026-04-19*

From December 2025 they have hired extra staff to sign up excessive buyers. So how it used to be not anymore. Most of the time big dealers pay retail price to acquire inventory. They are trying to favor sellers the most to generate more revenue of the company.

### 1/5 — NOT FOR BUYERS

*2026-04-01*

Absolutely garbage don’t buy nothing here they don’t cover nothing and it was the as described price they are only for the seller not the buyer zero stars if I could

### 1/5 — Not worth the stress

*2026-03-05*

Bug issues with the app, issues with honest listings, please do not waste your time with this business. I learned the hard way. Several times. Never changes

### 1/5 — So glitchy

*2025-12-18, version 5.31.1*

Horrible App, I don’t know who they have building these apps, it’s so glitchy, the timestamps don’t work. The filters don’t save. The notifications are outdated. The bidding options don’t work. And the worst part is that they don’t update it!

### 1/5 — DO NOT USE

*2025-11-13*

They do not back inspections. My dealership has been buying from auctions for 27 years, been using OPENLANE for a few years now. They will fight you on everything. When signing up, they tell you “inspections are 100% backed. If it’s not just how it says it is, we will make it right.” I can assure you they won’t. I have eaten SEVERAL transmissions and motors. I’ve lost over $5k in the last month due to poor inspections and looking at losing another $4-6k on a truck I just bought. Hail damage, transmission is shot, motor has major misfires, interior smells like rotted fish and actively pouring water from the back glass (major obvious stains missed on inspection for leaking for months), front seat broke, dents, scratches, etc. But guess what? It’s my fault. I paid over loan for the truck as well because the inspection had green all the way down. Arbitration will fight you tooth and nail to keep from making it right or you’ll get “well we see a transmission is $4k, we’ll give you $1200 back to make it right”. I’m going back to ACV. For dealers trying to stay above water in these hard times, please look elsewhere.

### 1/5 — Don’t bother

*2025-08-15, version 5.19.0*

Three cars in a row had bad frames. First car on me as the cost was below the 6000 mark. Next Silverado purchased over 10000$ Truck showed up and was a complete piece of junk. OPENLANE bought it back. Third vehicle bought with guarantees. Upon inspection found massive hole in the frame. This time told deal with it. What’s the point of the guarantee if they aren’t honored.

### 1/5 — Glitches

*2025-01-18, version 5.12.1*

Constantly going back to the top of listings

### 1/5 — SCAM SCAM SCAM

*2024-07-17*

Used car dealership PLEASE GET AWAY FROM THESE THIEVES . They say its a good car with green light then you will end up paying much more . People who work for dealership they do not show you whats wrong with it and they hide everything under the hood . The arbitration policy is THE WORST THING EVER . They just send you 100$ and thats it . Before getting scammed you should better not to work with these people .

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Larry

*2026-01-21*

Solid app with accurate vehicle descriptions. A few minor cosmetic details might be missed, but nothing serious. Overall, a good experience.

### 5/5 — Dealer111

### 5/5 — Great new app!

### 5/5 — Easy to use. Great design

### 5/5 — Dealer

*2017-04-18, version 1.4.9*

I love this app. It makes it so easy to buy cars.

### 4/5 — Where my hat

*2023-07-06*

Good app but didn’t send me my hat

### 3/5 — Can’t save pics

*2025-11-05*

Make it possible to save pictures. Right now you can’t do that through the app or the website. I need to show pictures to potential buyers. That will result in more sales for you. Right now I have to screenshot and crop each picture…wastes a lot of time… and I find myself spedning more time on other auctions for that sole reason.
