### 5/5 — Can’t believe it’s free

*2025-09-14, version 0.6.4*

Exactly, what I’m looking for
Clean UI
Nice DB
NO ADs

Can’t thank you enough

### 5/5 — Super

*2025-08-06, version 0.6.4*

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Slowest API on earth

*2026-01-02, version 0.6.4*

I scan or enter a product and have to wait somewhere between 20-80 seconds before beeing able to enter what i ate, uninstalled.

### 2/5 — Super Ansatz, schlechte Umsetzung

*2026-02-25, version 0.6.4*

### 3/5 — Five stars but..

*2026-07-27*

It tracks you. Please make this the only calorie counting app available on IOS that doesnt track you. Being the only app would make you the defacto top choice for anyone paying attention to the surveillance and police state. Help remove the fascists. Please!! 🙏 (being the peoples champ is alot better than being anything else)

### 3/5 — I like it but

*2026-05-27*

It needs updates.

Some that come to mind:

Daily water tracker
More freedom with implementing generalized meals with custom macros (relying on some open database isnt enough)
More info about Green/Red Success/fail days on the calendar (such as why its red)
Custom pictures for recipes
Fix onboarding with height
Stop collecting data / privacy

### 3/5 — Naja

*2026-02-26, version 0.6.4*

Eigentlich ok.

### 3/5 — unintuitive but free

*2025-08-11, version 0.6.4*

i really hate to leave a negative review for something that is free and open source, but i think it could use some improvements, especially regarding the ui. it’s a bit frustrating that 1. when you enter your height at the beginning, the imperial measurement doesn’t allow for inches, only feet, so you have to exit the app and calculate the decimal percent of inches. there’s also no converter so if you’d rather enter in cm you have to go look it up.
2. the macro percent goals cannot be entered manually, only with a sliding scale that retroactively adjusts the other macros each time you move one.
3. you can’t change just one measurement to a different system (imperial vs metric), so if you try to enter height in cm and then enter weight in lbs it doesn’t work.
4. you cannot manually input a calorie target. it has another sliding scale which shows + or - the amount of calories, but which does not show the total while you’re doing it.

i will say, that the visuals are great. it looks nice and clean, it just unfortunately feels like a challenge to use.

### 4/5 — Open Source!

*2026-08-22, version v2.0.2*

Thank you for providing a open source and free calorie and nutrients tracker app! I greatly appreciate that, and once it works as it should I will buy you a Kofi :) however, for the time being, some things need honing, foremost the search for products. I cannot set the app to English and if I search the German product names, standard products such as "cream", "flour" etc are just not available, which really limits what you can track. Also it is not easily possible to set the individual calorie goal besides what the app calculates.

Update: I did change the language to English and was now able to find basis products, but the calories of those are completely off.

### 4/5 — Struggling But Grateful

*2026-07-09, version v1.5.0*

I’m excited to work with a non-commercial nutrient tracking app. But, on initial use, I’m really struggling to log my meals.

When I click to log a meal, I don’t see any of my custom foods or recipes without searching or going to “recents”. Why wouldn’t my foods always be there, or maybe a tab for my foods? It’s not there.

In order to use the app efficiently, I need to create custom meals. But, the “simple” method seems to have a default serving size of 100g which cannot be changed. The “advanced” method allows me to set a meal size and/or serving size as a default “total amount”. And, then there’s a “base quantity” which allows me to set the “serving size” which is again by default 100g.

It’s just really confusing, not to mention the results for foods seem to be a combination of all users custom foods and scanned foods. I’d like the option to not show other’s custom foods or recipes, and instead have a basic database of staples like “eggs”, “bread”, “whole milk”, etc. It’s really cluttered when searching.

For scanning every food with a barcode, it’s petty great. But still, for recalling common foods, it requires an inefficient process of first tapping recent, then scrolling. I’m hoping it’ll get a “my foods” tab which opens by default when adding a meal, and the most recent foods scanned or added will be there.

### 4/5 — Eigentlich gute App aber leider unzureichend Suche

*2026-02-24, version 0.6.4*

Bsp. Suche „Schnitzel“ -> keine Ergebnisse. Wenn die Suche nutzbar funktioniert 5 Sterne!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Tres instructif

*2026-08-25, version v2.0.2*

Merci beaucoup

### 5/5 — straightforward and all in one

*2026-07-11, version v1.5.0*

i like how it has weight tracking and calorie tracking, and it is easy to add all the details of your meals yourself. It is very helpful and awesome!!!!

### 5/5 — Blazing Fast

*2026-06-03, version v1.5.0*

No ads, no paywalls, no bloat, no bs. You can export your data at any moment, or import some from somewhere else, no questions asked. I have experienced no bugs in these last few months. Developers are still active on the repo, so I’m expecting it to get even better.

### 5/5 — Free, privacy-focused, but slightly complicated

*2026-06-03, version v1.5.0*

I love this app because it’s free, doesn’t have ads, and all your data is stored only on your phone. I believe they take some anonymized metrics but it’s not much. Setting it up is slightly unintuitive / complicated but once you get it figured out it’s smooth sailing. It’s not as easy as Lose It or other calorie trackers, doesn’t have HealthKit / Apple fitness integration, but it’s pretty solid if you just want to track your intake and stay on top of deficit.

The food database is slightly frustrating since probably a third of what I eat either isn’t in there or there’s an error when I scan the barcode, and I end up having to create a custom food or meal. I do feel like the math in the app is not always 100%, but what fitness app’s math is going to be true to what’s actually going on in you? I think it relies a lot on your BMI, and even as a highly active adult it still put my daily suggested kcal intake way too high for what I would consider a deficit- so I decreased it by about 500 kcal.

Other than its quirks this app works well and accomplishes the task of nutrition tracking for me and I respect the privacy on it. I would recommend if you have the time to set it up (probably takes 20 min TOPS to get everything in and get used to it) and log possibly missing foods.

### 5/5 — Nutrition Meets Privacy

*2026-06-02, version v1.5.0*

The most recent version puts this open source nutrition tracker among the best resources out there - all while respecting your privacy through free and open source software. If you care about your fitness and care about having control of your data, look no further!

### 5/5 — 10/10

*2026-02-17, version 0.6.4*

Honestly, the app is absolutely perfect, it does what it needs to, without useless functions, and most importantly : without any ads.
10/10

### 5/5 — HealthKit integration

*2026-02-14, version 0.6.4*

Daaamn! This app is straight fire, I really love the UI... But it’s a real bummer that there’s no Apple Health sync. It would be super cool to fetch data and sync it back. Hope to see this feature ✊🏻

### 5/5 — Perfekt in open source.

*2025-11-25, version 0.6.4*

Alles was ich brauche. Ohne Werbung. Ohne Schnickschnack. Ohne Fasten, Rezepte bla bla bla. Geil! Danke

### 5/5 — Open-source

*2025-10-30, version 0.6.4*

### 5/5 — Best nutrition tracker for iOS

*2025-10-04, version 0.6.4*

I tested a few and they are all confusing and suffer from feature creep while being subscription based. This one is different.
