## Newest reviews (7 of 27)

### 3/5 — Needs A lot

*2023-10-30*

Still needs basic functions like swipe to go back and auto play gifs/ videos

### 2/5 — I used to like this app

*2023-10-26*

But full-screen intrusive ads are too much

### 3/5 — Favorites disappear and some videos don’t work

*2023-10-23*

Favorite subs don’t sync, and manually star’ed fav subs simply vanish without reason. Many video posts also will not play.

### 2/5 — It’s ok

*2023-10-16*

It is still missing a ton of features, like actually hiding spoilers, scrubbing video, and proper comment collapsing (without the collapsed feed going straight to the top of the screen). It feels pretty clunky to navigate through.

Otherwise it works decently enough. Sometimes posts you’ve already scrolled through reappear constantly while scrolling, but after passing it enough times eventually you’ll get a new one sprinkled in.

Biggest concern is that the dev claims they are not using an API which could have ramifications by either violating TOS, or being a web wrapper that has limitations that would prevent further growth.

I’d consider donating to the project once there’s more clarity on the sustainability of the application.

### 3/5 — Support for 2FA?

*2023-10-08*

I use 2FA on my account and I can’t figure out how to login with it.

**Developer response:** 2FA is supported in this version. Please let me know what issue you're experiencing exactly via contact@openredinc.com or the app's subreddit r/openred.

### 3/5 — Good start, very basic, but nowhere near Apollo

*2023-09-24*

This Reddit app is a pretty solid, but basic start to something better than the official app, but it’s lacking even basic features like hiding posts, filters, and the “premium” features locked behind a $5 monthly subscription are downright insulting.

It’s a long, long way from being anywhere near as nice as Apollo was (the best Reddit experience you could get before they screwed it up) but it’s still better than the trash official app.

### 1/5 — Crash

*2023-09-23*

I have logged into the app and no communities or my home feed does not open. Horrible app deleted after I logged in. :/

**Developer response:** Hi Gugidh, There was an issue with 2 factor authentication that caused this bug. I have since released an update that fixes it, I hope you can give this another try.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Ads

*2023-11-09*

Stop with the forced none skipable ads, whe left the official app because of ads and you are forcing unskiable one while key logging our Reddit passwords? You got to be crazy.

### 1/5 — Not worth it.

*2023-10-31*

Fullscreen ads quietly added.

Uninstalled.

### 1/5 — Can’t even log in

*2023-10-27*

So what’s the point of this

### 1/5 — Was ok, now bad

*2023-10-26*

Unskippable full screen ads frequently. Favorite subs get unsaved. Sketchy dev

### 1/5 — Obnoxious ads

*2023-10-24*

Opened the app and was presented with a long video ad with extremely loud sound. Fastest uninstall of my life.

### 1/5 — Should be banned

*2023-10-24*

This app violates Reddit’s TOS and the developer and his subreddit have both been banned by Reddit. This app should be banned from the App Store as well.

### 1/5 — Against TOS

*2023-10-22*

This app goes against Reddits TOS, and because of that this app wont last long. Ads are super intrusive here and the main concern is the login screen. The login doesn't use the standard Reddit login, but a custom one instead. Cant trust this app due to that.

### 1/5 — Was good

*2023-10-20*

The app was good and reminded me a lot of Apollo. I’ve used it for a few weeks and loved it even though it wasn’t perfect.

Now all of a sudden today I’m getting full screen mobile game ads like some scummy F2P title when opening a subreddit. Yeah, not thanks.

I’ve deleted the app and gone back to Sink It for Reddit

### 1/5 — Is this app even safe to use?

*2023-10-20*

When logging into your account. It doesn’t even go through Reddit’s request page. So you’re giving your account information to a 3rd party source that can easily store it for later. Even having 2FA doesn’t protect you. Usually when signing into a third party app it’s still listed on your account page under app permissions but this one doesn’t show up at all. Would not install until this gets addressed.

### 1/5 — Sincerely one of the worst apps I have ever used

*2023-10-09*

Please use literally anything else

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app

*2023-10-29*

Needs a few more features such as top comments jump and hide read other than that it’s awesome

### 5/5 — Pretty great but some bugs

*2023-10-24*

- Upvoting/downvoting posts doesnt seem to be working on all posts

### 5/5 — Successor to Apollo

*2023-10-21*

Fantastic start, already enough to be the only way i view reddit.

### 5/5 — Good start, but

*2023-10-08*

The premium option can’t be purchased for me. If I press subscribe nothing happens.

### 5/5 — Lots of potential

*2023-10-07*

I’m coming from Apollo. I’ve been using the Reddit web app and it’s terrible just like their mobile app. Openred works really well! A lot like Apollo. It could use some more features but the dev seems like he’s making quick progress. Would like to see YouTube links open the YT app and search in comments.

### 4/5 — Good start

*2023-10-28*

Looks like if posts are tagged with spoiler are blurred, thank you. Now it would be nice if your subreddit you favorite get saved cause to don’t if you refresh. Also would be nice to get letters on the side to quickly get to a subreddit

### 4/5 — This app has more potential than the reddit app

*2023-10-05*

It’s early but I believe this app is better than the official Reddit app. I can’t wait to see where this goes.

### 4/5 — Good start

*2023-10-04*

Latest update fixed to show all the subreddits you’re following so great fix. I noticed that spoiler tag post aren’t blurred. Please have that stuff blurred asap. Oh and adding the letters on the right side to quickly get to a certain subreddit would be amazing. Okay and just found out that my favorited subreddit don’t get saved if i clear the app

### 4/5 — Good start

*2023-09-28*

This definitely has potential. First thing I noticed is not all the subreddits I follow are showing on the list. I’d love if we could swipe left on posts to save. I’m also pretty sure the font slider isn’t actually changing the font. Lastly the search needs big improvements.

### 4/5 — Shows good promise

*2023-09-24*

I haven’t had crashing issues or anything like that but on my older iPhone Xs I had issues clicking the comment button, on the iPhone 15 Pro Max I haven’t had that issue though, over all this app shows a lot of good promise and is definitely worth checking out
