I have it trigger some false positives and even alert when I’m on a plane from time to time, but the biggest thing for me lately is the battery usage. My phone is a iPhone 12 Pro which was reporting it took 7% of my battery in the last 24 hours several times even when I’m not the driving. My battery has been draining faster as it starts to age. However 7% is a bit much and pushes my concern even further about running out of battery. It monitors my driving and advises me of what I need to improve on. This app would be great for parents to put on their teen drivers phones to monitor how they drive plus it allows for three emergency contacts to be called in the event of an accident. So far so good for me. ### 5/5 — Lots to love and what I’d like to see in the future! *2023-02-17, version 3.24.0* N. o matter which mapping app I use, Apple Maps, or Google maps, the speed limit data on those maps often does not match what I find on road signage. Apple appears to get it’s data from TomTom and Google Maps from Google. Orlando has had a lot of construction on the I-4 Corridor which has been completed for at least a year and in particular, the section of I-4 between Conroy Rd and SR 436 are listed as 50 mph on both apps. The signage shows 60 mph and has for some time once construction completed. There’s disparity between the signage and map apps from which I believe Openroad gets it’s information and that is inflating a lot of speeding statistics in your app whether it is Openroad’s database, or one of the others. (Time for Google, multi-camera car to update some routes in Florida!) Equally frustrating is the lack of provision to let the Openroad App know when I’m riding in a train, bus, Uber or in any vehicle in which I am the passenger instead of the driver. There also seems to be no grace given when a red light camera intersection’s stoplight changes to yellow unexpectedly and one must hard brake to avoid a $264 fine. Who decided what hard braking is after all? Is it if the front end of the car dips noticeably but with no loss of traction or control? I would say when there is a loss of traction and control from the tires sliding against the pavement and out of one’s lane—now that’s hard braking! Have the app ask at the end of the trip, once it detects zero car movement for 10 minutes, pop up a menu that asks: “Was the hard braking incident at/on A. (insert red light camera intersection) to safely avoid a red light camera fine?” B. (Insert location) to avoid hitting a child, person, livestock, pet or wildlife? C. (insert location) to avoid an object or debris in the road? D. (insert location). No, none of the above. A, B, and C“ gets no penalty and D answers count against. Kudos to your representatives who have faithfully called to check on my safety the two times I dropped my phone. That’s piece of mind! I applaud your intentions, as I am more aware of my driving behavior, and make much safer choices for it. At times it feels as if one is being falsely accused due to the above issues, which I hope to see corrected in a future update(s). The fact that this type of tracking is flawed prevents me from ever considering any insurance provider installing a driving behavior tracking device. One last thing: bring back the Accumulative Driving score number previously posted on the opening page. At first I thought maybe I was in denial and actually was driving like a maniac, but then I noticed it was even doing it when someone else was driving. Then the other day while driving on the highway at much higher speed I had to really brake suddenly and much harder - and the app didn’t say anything! But it triggered a warning from my dash cam which otherwise never makes a peep. This made me doubt it’ll work if I do have a crash, and considering it’s tracking my movements all the time, I decided to uninstall it. ### 1/5 — Said my braking was hard *2022-12-07, version 3.23.0* I quit using app as within the last week app said I was braking hard when I’m fact I wasn’t braking hard. It was a good app until this happened. I don’t trust the app. Will it report it to some authority? I was well within cell service with a functional phone. It didn’t respond. Now it keeps saying I need to allow motion and fitness access. However my iPhone doesn’t show it has requested it and I can’t turn it on. I have reached out to the developer and have gotten no response. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it. I have cleared the cache. I am in IT support so I know what I’m doing. Guess I’m going to have to go back to OnStar. Fortunately, we were not badly injured. As soon as the accident occurred I immediately received a call from OpenRoad. They were genuinely concerned. They asked if we were okay, needed an ambulance, and even asked we needed a tow truck. We were totally impressed with OpenRoad and would recommend it for anyone. Proved itself! *2024-07-17, version 3.42.0* So I got in a minor accident today, a “junk haulers” truck didn’t stop in time and rear ended my minivan. I was flustered at first and trying to find the non emergency number for the local police, and then when I did and was calling them, I was getting another call that I ignored because I needed to finish with the police call. I later received a call again and answered it and it turned out to be Openroad checking on me. They asked if I needed them to call for any help and I told them the police were on their way. They then asked me if I wanted them to stay on the line until the police came to which I responded it was daylight and I felt safe enough not to. But, wow, I appreciate that they reached out multiple times, would have called for assistance, and also would have stayed on the phone with me for as long as I needed. Do not hesitate to download this app. My watch didn’t even notify my about the incident although it is suppose to detect car crashes, which I suppose was because it was relatively minor…but Openroad DID! I am just so impressed and so grateful I had this service available to me.
