Recently, I keep having to re-add his two controllers to the app because it’s losing its configuration on app updates (presumably). He can’t do this (I’ve made an instruction document with screen shots since I’m 300 miles away to try to help); he is so frustrated. So yeah, kind of wishing I’d gone with some plug-n-play commercial system now with a better phone app. Also, the UI could be better. ### 3/5 — Won’t connect to controller *2021-04-10, version 2.2.4* Now it won’t connect to the controller. I’m able to log in using safari but it keeps saying to check IP/port and try again. ### 4/5 — I love the app I love the sprinkler controller. *2021-04-10, version 2.2.4* Even though I love this app and this device, twice now in one week we have had two updates (thank you I think), but twice now I need to reconnect to my devices connection info has been lost and I’m starting over again. Have to start over. ### 3/5 — Resume *2018-07-06, version 1.7.8* Same issue as other reviewer, if the program tries to resume after phone was locked everything is frozen and I need to quit the app and reopen it continue using. The app itself is well done, intuitive interface, clean and simple. Would easily rate 5 stars once the frozen resume is resolved. ### 3/5 — Allows me to control zones, but crashes often *2018-05-28, version 1.7.6* If you try and take a picture to assign it to a zone, the app crashes. Didn’t used to, but I’m finding that with this developer, they don’t care much about fixing issues. I’ve been waiting for them to fix a dhcp / static IP bug with their OpenSprinkler for well over a year. ### 3/5 — Resume *2018-05-19, version 1.7.3* Resuming the app on iPhone 7 doesn’t seem to work. Have to force quit and reopen. Any clue as to why this is happening? ### 4/5 — Super convenient and 'just works' *2015-06-19, version 1.4.4* Using this app is the natural way to manage OpenSprinkler, while in the yard, test a zone, or change the amount of water a plant gets. Terrible app ### 1/5 — App could’ve been so good *2024-03-26, version 2.4.0* I use this everyday in multiple greenhouses & I love how I can customize it down to the second with patterns but everything else seems so old school. You having to be on Wi-Fi to interact with the device is a huge hinder. The app also refreshes & updates super slow, if I want to stop a zone from running if I accidentally run the wrong one then I have to wait a good 20-30 seconds before it updates & I can stop it. ### 1/5 — Incompatible with voiceover *2022-10-10, version 2.2.5* I have been using this app for several years and voiceover compatibility has always been a bit of an issue. With the current version it is impossible to edit an existing program or create an new one. Disappointing. ### 1/5 — Latest update *2021-04-04, version 2.2.2* What did you do?!?! Used to log in flawlessly no matter where I am. Now I get password error UNLESS I first VPN into my home network.... Why did you change things?!?! Please undo this change you made. I travel a lot and do not want to VPN just to use your app ### 1/5 — A pain to use *2020-06-30* It’s a shame that the screen where you tell sprinklers to switch on and off doesn’t refresh after you make a change. You need to shut the app down (flick up) and then reload the app to see the changes that have been made, a real pain when you have multiple changes to make! ### 1/5 — Poor support *2020-05-02, version 2.1.9* I’ve had nothing but problems with this WiFi device. Power surges, messes it up. Little to no customer support. Maybe he knows what he is talking about but his directions are Chinese to me. Go figure! ### 1/5 — Update crashed OpenSprinkler *2018-07-24, version 1.7.9* The latest update has rendered OpenSprinkler completely unusable the router can’t find the units and the app only opens to the manage sites page ### 2/5 — Update deleted my OS sites (update: Twice now) *2021-04-12, version 2.2.4* This app has been fantastic for years. It managed two openSprinkler sites perfectly. then this last update deleted both sites and appeared to require a new login. I had to recreate the site settings. overall not a happy update experience. Review Update please let me know exactly many more of these fun updates i can expect that delete all my site info - 2nd in two weeks! yay! ### 2/5 — Needs a lot of work *2015-01-10, version 1.2.6* There are several major issues with this app and the hardware. For one the hardware unit loses power randomly and reboots. I've checked all my wiring with a multi-meter etc. the app adds additional programs to the end of the program list. In general the entire system needs more work. ### 2/5 — No checks on unintentionally operation *2014-08-10, version 1.1.6* It’s far too easy to accidentally turn on valves and make system changes. The equivalent of “butt dialing” with this app may leave your sprinkler valves open for a week while on vacation. The lack of practical controls originates with the device's firmware design. But this app amplifies those deficiencies by making system changes easily accessible. The app is well organized and seems refined. It connects easily to the open sprinkler controller. We’ve used it since 2018 and it’s been reliable and easy to use. I an using it on daily basis. ### 5/5 — Odd UI, great engine *2019-05-06, version 1.8.5* I am very pleased with the overall solution of OpenSprinker: price, packaging, hardware, support, quality, and being open. Regarding this app specifically, the scheduling engine and workflow are solid. The UI is a bit awkward, mainly due to the slide out and pop up menus. Like Pinterest, I dislike the way a floating dialog is too easily dismissed (and input lost) by tapping anywhere outside of its border. I wish this app followed iPhone UI standards and felt as solid as the scheduling engine and controller hardware. ### 5/5 — Latest update broke connection *2018-08-01, version 1.8.2* The latest update that I downloaded just a day or two ago has broken my connection with my system. It is one of the early build it yourself units running FW 1.8.3. I can connect to it from a browser on the same device, but not through the app any more. Passwords and addresses verified, but will not connect. *** UPDATE *** The latest update did fix the problem!
