Lately, we’ve been dealing with a major issue: fake reservations. People are booking tables and simply not showing up, which results in significant loss of business—especially on busy nights when we could have seated actual paying customers. What makes it worse is that OpenTable’s fees keep increasing, yet the platform doesn’t seem to be doing enough to prevent this kind of behavior. There’s no real accountability for no-shows, and restaurants are left to absorb the cost. For a platform that charges as much as it does, the lack of protection or meaningful solutions for restaurants is disappointing. I hope OpenTable takes this more seriously and invests in better verification or penalty systems to stop fake bookings. Until then, it’s hard to justify the high cost for a service that sometimes does more harm than good. ### 1/5 — iPhone should have iPad Features *2026-02-25, version 11.0.5* Just give the phone the features as requested in so many other reviews and comments. Should be able to pre-assign tables and also make sections on a phone. The iPhone app is garbage ### 1/5 — CRAWLING on an M3?? *2026-01-11, version 10.7.16* How is it that I can make 3D models, edit video and photos on this iPad with an M3 chip with no problem, but SOMEHOW this app takes forever to load guest lists and reservations? Don't tell me it's my internet connection either. Fix your code or find new coders that can do the job. And could you also stop your "AI" from AUTOMATICALLY CHANGING guests on reservations that we manually put into the system to someone else entirely. I'm tired of seeing "Guest Changed on Reservation" in the reservation history to a completely different guest with a completely different number and email WHEN NO ONE INITIATED THAT CHANGE. Customers book but it doesn’t appear on my iPad. Really frustrating ### 1/5 — Careful before sign in *2026-07-08* We have used OpenTable since we opened our restaurant. When business became slow, I asked them to downgrade our plan. They did, but they never told me it would automatically renew into a new one year contract. I clearly asked for a month to month plan. Last month, I called to cancel the service. They told me I had signed a one year contract and would have to pay about $900 to cancel early. They also kept pushing us to buy ads, saying we would get more customers. On top of the monthly subscription fee, they charge about $5 for customers who come through ads and about $1 for other reservations. The monthly fees and extra charges add up quickly. Even if you're a host in a restaurant. Your job is made easier by using this app. It. Is. Amazing. It does so much work for you it's incredibly easy to use. What and how did we do things like take reservations and such before this amazing app came to be!!?? How could anyone leave one star reviews on this is beyond me!? Anything short of 4 or 5 stars and I'm thinking you're either dumb. Or have no clue about the efficiency this app brings to your everyday life working in a restaurant. ### 5/5 — More Guests More Control *2024-02-08* I have been able to use every table management system out there. OpenTable is smooth and they have amazing support. I have seamless service front of house, and it 'does the thinking' on wait times for new hosts who might not feel confident offering their own estimates. I have been able to advertise my happy hour, special events and dinners, securing more diners with the multiple clever email campaigns that automatically run. We do occasionally use their marketing on their website, and have been seeing great results on that.
