### 3/5 — Works, with some caveats

*2023-10-28*

Basically functions as you'd expect, but it has no function for online content like NewGRFs or heightmaps and, as this is a third-party app and hasn't been updated in two years, it isn't up-to-date with the PC release of the game. It has integrated touch controls, but they can be a bit finnicky at times. Good if you're going on a trip without a computer and want to ease the transport itch.

### 4/5 — Good but topbar

*2023-07-24*

All good thank you but please consider removing that UGLY white top bar in interface it distracts a lot

### 3/5 — Bugs

*2023-07-12*

Online content does not load and the game will randomly reset back to defaults

### 4/5 — Great Game with a few major issues

*2023-06-29*

Overall this is a great game that you can get on steam for free, and the game feels just like it’s pc counterpart. However there is one main problem that is a real pain to deal with sometimes.
                    The Online Content
The online content section is overall great as that is what drives me to play the game, however it may not show up randomly. As in, the resources that are there to add more content to a game don’t show up at all for an extended period of time.

### 4/5 — Data Loss!!!

*2022-10-14, version 1.12*

This is what I’d call a functional port of open ttd, however, all of my data is deleted on restart. Ai’s, Scenarios, saves. This is a serious bug which blocks people from playing long sessions.

### 4/5 — General review

*2022-06-13, version 1.12*

Openttd is an open source remaster of “Transport Tycoon Deluxe” or ttd. Where you manage a series of vehicles that transport passengers and goods around a randomly generated map. Staying on top of competitors, while maintaining a good image of the towns’ local authorities. Of course, since it’s open sourced. Several new and modifiable features not found in the original game are present. Some of which function as DLC, or “Newgrfs” as it is called.
 ==================================
I’ve been a fan of Openttd ever since I first played it in my childhood on an old android tablet. So, imagine my surprise to see it readily available for download from Apple’s AppStore. Rushing at the opportunity, I downloaded the app, installed several NewGrfs to enhance my experience, then started a new game. ===================================
The experience on a particularly large map was surprisingly smooth for the most part on an iPhone 13, Of course being more of a burden on more mid-range/budget or older devices. However, there are times the game would freeze when a large cluster of events are ongoing, or when autosaving. There also appears to be a surprising lack of music playing on this particular version of the game. But may be attributed to the way the music playback was designed, being of course oriented for desktop computers, but was also functional on Android devices. Apple may be an entirely different story, so you essentially have to play in silence, only hearing your vehicles set off on their routes, Or the ambience of birds, and other sounds generated by Newgrfs.
===================================
Multiplayer is an aspect that allows you to either forge alliances, or create overwhelming chaos in the form of transportation networks between other players. The element unfortunately does not appear to work correctly, crashing the app when attempting to search by internet for any available servers, Dashing any attempts of playing with your friends while on the go, If you’re on an Apple device.
===================================
In spite of the few problems existing, such as the inability to wreak havoc on other players. The app holds rather well on the Apple platform, bringing the portability of the Android version of the game to be experienced by even more users that are looking for something to pass the time. I place this highly on my list of mobile games, Simply due to the nature of the Transport Tycoon series, And the great range of things you’re capable of doing on an app that has been constantly developed by a broad range of volunteers from a gigantic community. The game will keep you glued to your screen, and leave a notable impression that will have you coming back for more. I sincerely hope the developer that had taken the liberty to port the game to this platform can iron out the few bugs I, and probably others, have encountered. Bringing the game on par with the Android version.

### 5/5 — Like OG Transportation Tycoon, but More Options

*2021-12-30, version 1.12*

I like classic tycoon games from the 2000s. This one hits the mark!

### 5/5 — Very impressive, essentially perfect mobile version of openttd

*2021-12-14, version 1.12*

Wow! If you’ve ever played open ttd on your computer you’ll see that this mobile version is 1:1. Super fun to play, exactly the same mechanics as the pc version. Have essentially no complaints other than it’s kinda hard to play on such a small screen and without a keyboard and whatnot but that’s not the developers fault, just have to get used it to it. Highly recommend 5/5.

### 4/5 — Please Update

*2021-11-26, version 1.12*

It seems to be Missing some key pieces like the ability to edit terrain

### 4/5 — Great game just like pc but…

*2021-11-21, version 1.12*

This game is a great game I would give it a 5 star but I have one problem when I go to download a base graphics pack the game crashes every time I try, otherwise an amazing game.

**Developer response:** could you email me the detail steps to reproduce the problem if you have time, so i could check on my side. Thanks a lot

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Oké game

*2024-03-03*

Like the pc version, but old; randomly resets your progress and settings, online content does not work at all, cannot access game files through files app to manually install mods or saves, controls barely work.

### 1/5 — No tutorial

*2022-08-13, version 1.12*

None that works anyway. I have no clue what my goal is or how to get there.

### 1/5 — Doesnt boot

*2022-07-28, version 1.12*

This app gets stuck on Preparing 99% of the time. I’m lucky to boot it in 10 minutes of opening, waiting, and closing the app.

### 1/5 — 该更新优化了

*2022-07-06, version 1.12*

12.1

### 1/5 — Can’t see anything

*2022-06-29, version 1.12*

I paid for it but can’t read any of the text so idk how to play :(

### 1/5 — Not a good port.

*2022-06-28, version 1.12*

The game doesn’t fit my screen resolution. The tutorial doesn’t work. Also bad mobile design, I’d really like to use two fingers to zoom and move around the map.

I’ll be playing this on pc because it looks really fun!

### 1/5 — Good game

*2021-10-20, version 1.12*

Ññññññññ

### 2/5 — Please update the game!!

*2023-02-05, version 1.12*

Hi please update to open ttd 12.1
Install the Zbase graphics or abase (better). This will let us have higher resolution. Also this will let many play online!

Right now the game crashes a lot when trying to do any of this in game!

### 2/5 — Some issues

*2022-06-17, version 1.12*

This game is just like the one on android but here’s the thing: It keeps turning entirely white except for the stuff at the top like your internet and battery percentage. The only way to fix it for me is to restart the game but I need to do it way too often. Please Fix this. (Also my device is a iPad mini 2)

### 2/5 — Saved games disappear

*2022-06-02, version 1.12*

This is a perfect mobile port, but my saved games disappear. I am saving them by clicking the save icon, entering a name for the save file, and saving the game in the save directory. I come back later and the file is missing from that directory. Developer, can you help?

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2023-04-23*

This game is absolutely amazing for it being a port. It’s just hard to get a grasp but I would recommend this to everyone 10/10

### 5/5 — Perfect Straight PC Port

*2023-02-23, version 1.12*

It’s Literally The Same Thing As The PC Game!

### 5/5 — Nice port

*2022-12-28, version 1.12*

But I cannot figure out how to install AI competitors

### 5/5 — Really impressive

*2022-08-19, version 1.12*

Really impressive port of one of my favorite games. My only request is the addition of zooming in/out with finger gestures, if possible. It’s counter-intuitive to use buttons on mobile.

### 5/5 — Great port of classic game

*2022-06-15, version 1.12*

This is a great port of a classic game. This is the best transportation simulation game ever made. For other users I highly recommend turning on title bars in the game options because then you have the X to close windows instead of having to drag them off the screen. Get this game!

### 5/5 — Great game

*2022-06-13, version 1.12*

The game is very interesting, but every time open the will to crash the game

### 5/5 — Works just like the pc game!

*2022-05-18, version 1.12*

Works great been having fun on it, only thing I was wondering, how can I backup saves and send them to pc or my iPad (other device)?

### 5/5 — Perfect port of openTTD

*2022-05-15, version 1.12*

If you have played OpenTTD on the computer, this is the same exact thing, and it works perfectly, even downloading GRFs and scenarios. I really enjoy the ease of being able to play on my phone anywhere anytime, and find I play more often now, although of course the game is more accessible on PC. If you haven't played before the learning curve might be steep but I think it's worth looking up a couple YouTube tutorials to figure it out.

My only complaint is that for some reason the soundtrack doesn't seem to play, not sure if that's something I can fix or not.

### 5/5 — The one of the most Great Game but....

*2022-04-20, version 1.12*

This game is great and funny , but it’s crash at my iPad , run game about 1 minute and white color full of the screen and can’t touch anything

### 5/5 — Excellent App

*2022-04-05, version 1.12*

Very good. UI is good, could use some minor tweaks with font size and window size but overall very good mobile version.
