## What is OpticALLY 3D Scan?

Build a photoreal 3D you with Persona, scan objects with your camera and rooms with LiDAR, free. Export USDZ, OBJ, GLB, PLY, STL, splats and videos with OpticALLY Pro. Everything stays on your device.

OpticALLY turns your iPhone into a full 3D scanner.

PHOTO SCANNING
Guided Object Capture walks you around an object in up to three passes with live feedback, then builds a textured 3D model right on your iPhone. Captured photos are kept so you can rebuild them later.

LIDAR SCANNING
On LiDAR iPhones, scan rooms, furniture and large objects with a live mesh preview, camera colour and classification. Pause, resume and finish when you're ready.

PERSONA
Prop your iPhone up and move your head in a slow circle three times while the ring fills, like setting up Face ID, and OpticALLY uses the TrueDepth camera to build a photoreal 3D model of your head as Gaussian splats, right on your device. Turn it, relight it and view it in AR.

LIVE PERSONA
Your 3D head copies your face in real time: head turns, blinks, eyes, smiles, an open mouth and even your tongue. Record clips with your voice, up to 30 seconds, then share them to Messages or save them to Photos.

EYEWEAR MEASUREMENTS
Quick Measure uses the TrueDepth camera for pupillary distance, bridge, temple, frame and lens width.

LIBRARY AND VIEWER
Every scan lands in your library with a thumbnail. Orbit, zoom, toggle wireframe, measure between two points and view it in your room with AR Quick Look.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.9 — 2026-11-03

Persona capture is now as easy as setting up Face ID: move your head slowly in a circle three times while the ring fills. Voice prompts and ticks guide you when you can't see the screen, and even a rough capture becomes a Persona.

Live Persona copies your face in real time, now with a natural mouth and tongue, softer edges and lighting that matches your room. Record clips with your voice, up to 30 seconds, and share them to Messages or save them to Photos.

Exports are now part of OpticALLY Pro, and Persona USDZ and OBJ exports carry a real colour texture.

### 1.8 — 2026-10-28

3D Face Scan is more reliable and easier to follow. Scans start building right away instead of stalling on calibration, frames are no longer thrown away when your face isn't centred, depth is matched to your exact head position for a cleaner model, and the ring fills once you reach each direction. Before you start, a live checklist shows face, distance, light and depth camera status, and an arrow shows where to turn next.

Also new: View in AR for every scan, Room mode floor plans on LiDAR devices, a mesh editor, Share Cards, and import of USDZ, OBJ, PLY, STL and GLB files.

Everything is still processed on your device. No account, no uploads.

### 1.7 — 2026-10-23

3D Face Scan is back: prop your phone up and turn your head while the ring fills. Sharper scans with ears, better nose shape, and blur/lighting rejection. Start it from the new Face Scan card at the top of the home screen.

• Hands-free face scan: prop your iPhone up, then turn your head slowly while a Face ID-style ring fills in. Frames are checked for blur, light, distance and expression, and only well-spread views are kept.
• Better models: depth from every view is fused into one smooth, watertight 3D head, the views are aligned to each other automatically, and colour comes from the sharpest, most head-on frames.
• Eyewear measurements with ± ranges: PD (distance and near), monocular PD, segment heights for your frame size, bridge width, nose pad angle, temple width, temple length to the ear, face width and nose length.
• A cleaner Measure screen: one large PD reading, millimetres or inches, tap any value to see what it means, and copy or share as CSV.
• Quick Measure uses the same measurement engine for a fast PD check.
• Works on every iPhone with Face ID, including iPhone 17 Pro.

Everything is processed on your device. No account, no uploads.

### 1.6 — 2026-10-19

OpticALLY is now a full 3D scanner.

• Photo scanning: guided Object Capture walks you around an object and builds a textured 3D model right on your iPhone. Devices that can't build models can still capture and keep the photo set.
• LiDAR scanning: scan rooms, furniture and large objects with a live mesh preview and colour from the camera. Pause, resume and leave out the floor.
• Library: every scan with thumbnails, size and date. Rename, duplicate, delete, view in 3D with wireframe, and open USDZ in AR Quick Look.
• Free: unlimited scanning and viewing, plus 3 USDZ exports a week.
• OpticALLY Pro: OBJ, GLB, PLY and STL export, unlimited exports with no watermark, mesh simplification and cleanup, texture size, point-to-point measurements, and full eyewear measurements. Monthly, yearly with a 7-day free trial, or a one-time lifetime purchase.
• Fixes: 3D Face Scan uses the real reconstruction pipeline again, and measurement sharing works.

Everything is processed on your device. No account, no uploads.

### 1.4 — 2026-05-19

Fixed iPhone 17 Pro Orientation Issue and .OBJ Export.
