Not really sure why a company that focuses on critical energy needs would build something so terribly unreliable and clearly unsupported. Compared to other manufacturers and systems out there, leaving a product like this out in the wild just makes Outback look worse and worse. ### 1/5 — Doesn't work *2024-11-04, version 3.0* Can't login. It says "something went wrong. try again later". I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app. I've tried using the "forgot password" feature (even though I know the password) - same error. ### 1/5 — Just doesn’t work *2024-10-17, version 3.0* Doesn’t remember credentials then it doesn’t work after entering them. ### 1/5 — It does NOT work *2024-10-12, version 3.0* Very bad! Clumsy, it requires several minutes to connect and 80% of the time provides an “error” message and does not connect at all. And just recently this year the app will not let me log in. It simply doesn’t work. Recently there was an update and I want the old one back. How can I do this. I can’t report a problem because it is a free app. I know I can still see my power but it requires me to log in through the internet to see ### 1/5 — App Backend Decommissioned *2024-08-17, version 3.0* Outback was sold and transferred to new location in TX. The whole backend for this app was shut and isnt in service. Why the app still available. ### 1/5 — Used to work great! *2024-08-05, version 3.0* I started using this app quite a while ago. It seemed to work flawlessly. Had a few more updates and it worked even better. And then all of a sudden a couple months ago it stopped working all together. I tried to add in my credentials and it says “something went wrong“. I haven’t been able to access my system through the app for sometime now. ### 1/5 — So begins Outback Solar’s fall from grace *2024-07-31, version 3.0* The app has thrown login errors for weeks now. It doesn’t appear to be working for anyone, and yet—there is no notification or message in the app, there is no announcement from the company about the outage. A major outage combined with radio silence is a clear indicator of serious internal issues at this company. At least there are ways to access mate3s data without the cloud. But if I’m being honest, Victron is looking mighty appealing right now for my next upgrade. ### 1/5 — Stopped working *2024-07-04, version 3.0* After acquisition upon acquisition, apparently, outback power, or whomever their new owners is fired the developers of this application and it no longer works… Just stick to using the website and file this app under “don’t bother”.. ### 1/5 — Broken *2024-06-14, version 3.0* App recently broke and is not functional. The website and app went down one night and the website came back but the app did not. Unable to login with with error: “something went wrong, please try again”. ### 1/5 — Meh *2023-10-13* I was waiting for an app like this to use it on the go. Sadly this app is only for one specific inverter. I don't like the web interface. You never are able to see it all in one place. I really don't understand their hesitation to make an app. That’s one of the features that TESLA offer by default. Outback was a pioneer once, nowadays is way WAY behind. ### 1/5 — Useless *2023-09-29* The app is for Mojave users only. The developer only makes promises about a future releases for non-Mojave users. However, those claims seem to never materialize. Worst part was the developer and or main business didn’t provide any notice whatsoever. The app is still available but does not function at all. I can see my home from the opticsre app. I was resigned to use Homeassistant app because wasn't able to use this app. Mobile app version 2.0 now supports Mate3s family. I have a GTFX3048 and even though it is old, still works well with the app! Thank you Alpha Group / Outback team for listening to the customers. ### 5/5 — Radian works on Version 2.0 App! *2023-11-11* November 10, 2023: THANK YOU for now supporting the Radian Series!!! Version 2.0 works like a charm. App review changed to 5 Stars. August 10, 2023: App won’t let me add any system other than Mojave. I have the Radian Series. I contacted support & they stated that this app might be fixed sometime in 2024. So, I guess we’re waiting 4+ months for this app to work with Radian Systems. **Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. Currently, Optics RE is mainly targeting the Mojave series of products and the corresponding systems. In the future, we will be compatible with more product series. ### 4/5 — Definite improvement *2023-12-11* At last the folk at Alpha adjusted their OpticsRE website for these tiny computer screens and produced an App. Now if they could only realize that white space conveys no information and reduce the vast quantities they have on all their pages we’d have a more usable product. Alas the historical data collection is still a joke: unreliable, gaps, outright errors and recorded hallucinations at times. But that’s a separate issue. This application does work properly. ### 2/5 — Not dependable *2025-10-31, version 3.0* At times it’s impossible to sign on! The app is not always the easiest to use, can be quite frustrating most of the time. It’s almost impossible to speak to a human at Outback. This is our second Outback system, I used to brag about their customer service. How I loved Outback. Now I wouldn’t recommend Outback to my worst enemy! ### 2/5 — Works except when it doesn’t *2024-02-04, version 2.0* There’s a distinct reliability issue with this app and the underlying data it uses. As mentioned in an earlier review at times the information recorded has all the accuracy of a former president’s speeches, wildly inaccurate. The refresh interval is irregular and erratic meaning that at any given moment of observation you may be viewing: a) accurate up to the minute data; b) acrturate but old (15 minutes or more) data; c) erroneous versions of a) or b). Trying to use this in a meaningful way to manage systems is ludicrous at best.
