If your not going to study. It is probably not worth downloading. The app has been updated a couple of times now. I’m still awaiting it going all the way to the ‘River’. You would have to be quite a seasoned and passionate poker player to get the most from this app. 29/03/2023. I just updated the app. Tournament play now implemented. You need to be a serious poker player for this to be an investment and not just an expense. I actually enjoy playing the free up to the turn. ### 2/5 — Nice app, terrible poker strategy *2024-01-06* This app may help someone to move up from being totally ignorant of poker to being a “face-up”, easily exploitable player who will be eaten alive by any competent player. As the top review testifies, it helps you learn how to put in most money with your best cards. Problem is that GTO poker (that the app claims it will teach or simulate) is anything but that: it relays on polarized ranges: betting a carefully balanced ratio of the strongest and weakest cards of your playable range to make your moves unreadable and unexploitable. The app is an intriguing concept and its interface is reasonably well executed (though it could be made more easily readable and could also communicate its suggestions better), but its poker strategy would barely keep one alive even amongst amateur players. I am sorry if my review ruins the frenzy the regulars and pros would have when the Optima-trained novices show up in the card rooms armed with false confidence. Thinking of it, that may be the only logical purpose of getting this app out there. **Developer response:** Thank you for your detailed review. Please keep in mind that the currently released version of the app and underlying algorithm is a work in progress. There are still countless updates and adjustments that need to be implemented to fully optimize all decisions, not to mention the user interface. That being said, the proprietary 12-step algorithm that is specified in the Optima Poker Trainer book/app is most definitely an extremely useful tool for ANY serious poker player. Highly skilled poker players already undergo each of the 12 steps during the course of their normal play. They just do it sub-consciously because they have already learned the process through trial by error or other inefficient learning methods. However, having a more thorough and detailed understanding of each of these 12 steps will no doubt improve ANY poker player's game. ### 3/5 — Too small for my old eyes!!!! *2024-01-01* I’m 60 years old and I can’t see the cards. It can’t just be me. Maybe you get eyes will be able to use this app. **Developer response:** I recently implemented an update that makes the active player's cards larger throughout each hand. Please make sure you are using the most recently updated version of the app. If the cards are still too small, the app is also available on tablets with larger screens. There is a book with the full algorithm written out. The author and creator of the app was able to secure a patent on this algorithm. Once people find this gem they won’t look back.
