### 3/5 — Just ok

*2026-07-03, version 1.9.8*

This app worked for a month now it won’t stay connected. Not sure what the problem is. Great when it worked though

### 3/5 — Good 5 minute increment monitor

*2026-02-01, version 1.9.8*

App monitors and charges based on the 5 minutes prices from Comed. Unfortunately, Comed bills the real time HOURLY rate, not 5 minute increments. You might charge $0.04/kWh on the app for 20 minutes. But Comed going to bill $0.10/kWh (the calculated hourly rate) for those 20 minutes. Not good if you have high fluctuations in the 5 minute increment’s. Keep this in mind when you see the cost displayed on the app which shows 5-minute increments. It’ll be nice to have the real time hourly rate calculated on the app itself. Knowing this, an app monitoring 5-minutes prices is probably good more than half the time, but not all the time.

### 2/5 — Never really worked, then it went haywire…

*2025-10-12, version 1.9.8*

I installed because I thought it’d be convenient to let an app dictate my charging schedule with my power company’s variable rate.

I shared all of my data and it never really worked. I eventually just left it alone and forgot about it until it started randomly shutting off my charging after my power company went back to a flat rate for the fall.

### 2/5 — May Drain Car Battery

*2025-01-19, version 1.8.3*

Installed this app to manage the charging of my EV but my 12v battery died twice within the first week and had to be replaced. Then the new car battery died 10 days after it was installed. Coincidence? For the time being, I’ve disabled the app with the hope that this problem can be solved.

### 2/5 — Wrong model compression for gas and wrong gas oricd

*2024-12-29, version 1.8.3*

This app seems to fool EV owners on savings. It takes gas price $4.99 per gallon, those days are gone, gas is $2 lower in my area. Also it compares Tesla with luxury BMW model premium gas, Tesla is not a luxury car, it is expensive but not luxury.

### 1/5 — Battery drain

*2024-12-23, version 1.8.3*

Seemed to be a good solution to my problem at first, I needed a way to monitor how much power I was using with the granny charger at home due to a shared bill.
Does a great job of totting up the spend and monitoring the charge, however it seems to be constantly pinging I assume and this has caused the 12v battery to drain on the car. Car is only 2 months old and its state of charge has always been kept above 40% pretty much so see no other reason for it!
I would avoid it unless you want to be jump starting a brand new car!

### 3/5 — Good features when they work

*2024-11-27, version 1.8.2*

The App could be fantastic if it would be a bit more stable. It looses all the time the connection to my devices (have EV and smart thermostat connected) and then doesn’t recognize that I used them. Removing and adding them solved the issue, but it happens so often that I stopped using the App as it is too cumbersome. If everything works it is a 5 star, but since it only works 50% of the time for me I can only give 3 stars

### 2/5 — Signs me out

*2024-11-04, version 1.8.1*

The app signs me out very frequently. Otherwise it would be 4 or 5 stars. The charging features and smart thermostat tracking and data works well

### 1/5 — Setting trips doesn’t work

*2024-08-31, version 1.7.0*

I had to go for a long trip, set target to 100% battery charge level but woke up in the morning to find it at 80. Very useless app

### 4/5 — Reset

*2024-08-16, version 1.7.0*

For some reason my optiwatt has reset itself and lost all my data and I had to setup account again. Other than that it has been a pleasant experience. Although I have no way of truely knowing whether or not it saves me money it does give me a piece of mind.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App / System is unreliable and unresponsive

*2026-07-08, version 1.9.8*

Waste of time, does not work with vehicles or Provider. The support is non existent. Frequent overrides of charging requests and creates logistical problems

### 1/5 — Horrible app and customer servicr

*2026-06-10, version 1.9.8*

The app hijacked my tesla wall connector and now i can’t charge it anymore. There is not customer service number. Only email communication. And it’s very slow.

### 1/5 — Still not fixed

*2026-04-14, version 1.9.8*

It’s been 3 months and the total spent is still not showing the energy vs gas costs, which is the point of this app.

### 1/5 — Great When it Works Correctly

*2025-12-14, version 1.9.8*

This app is great until you want to charge outside of your normal schedule! It will continue to stop your charging and you have to constantly monitor the app or you won’t have a charged car! This is happening even when you tell it stop using the schedule! Once my sub meter is installed I’m dropping this good for nothing app!!

### 1/5 — Not Reliable

*2025-10-27, version 1.9.8*

Used to work well until recently, multiple times it didn’t charge my tesla the entire night even though the rate was favorable and the charger was plugged in.
Got badly surprised in the morning before going to work that the vehicle was at low battery (30%).

### 1/5 — Does not do anything. In fact , it will charge your car at the highest rate.

*2025-04-17, version 1.8.6*

I decided to give Optiwatt a try because
my Energy company is partnering with them. My energy company offers , peak rate and off peak rate.
First time I used it, Optiwatt decided to charge my car at the highest peak rate time.
I came home, plugged it in like I always do. My Tesla will not charge until the schedule I set, which is at off peak when it is the lowest. Once I signed up for Optiwatt, I did my normal driving to work, coming back home, plugged it in. This would not be a problem before I got Optiwatt. As my Tesla will not charge until the schedule I set , which is in off peak hours. Then I got a notification my car was done charge. Apparently Optiwatt decided to charge my Tesla immediately when I plugged it in, which was during peak hours. I don’t see the saving in this if Optiwatt takes over the charging schedule to charge at the peak rate. Although, I can see why my electric company would like it. Anyways, I’m
Going to revoke access and just use the Tesla app to charge my car which have been flawless.

### 1/5 — TESLA virus, cost thousands

*2025-02-26, version 1.8.3*

This app connects to your car turns on a number of features unbeknownst to the user and, in my case, factually cost me hundreds of dollars in energy fees. Response to developer response: yes the app did verifiably cost me hundreds of dollars in 2024.
When deleted, the app does not remove the “tokens” allowing it to turn on your car for preconditioning.
I had no idea that tokens were used by the app. It was not clearly stated that this app would leave virus-like tokens in place after the deletion. It took about a year, over 50 wasted hours of troubleshooting and 2 trips to the repair center to figure out what the app had done and remove the tokens permanently.

So dear developer, take the feedback or don’t but the facts are the facts….

### 1/5 — Costs me more than on peak charging

*2025-01-24, version 1.8.3*

I have two problems:

I’ve had to wait for weeks to get enrolled in the rewards for off peak EV charging with no updates or timeline when I’ll get enrolled.

The scheduled charging from the app will start and stop charging a few times overnight. This is less efficient than when I charge all at once. I end up using a few more kWh than I normally would. Even with the off peak reward this costs me more than if I didn’t use this app.

### 1/5 — Will Drain your 12v Battery

*2025-01-23, version 1.8.3*

I’ve had to jumpstart my car 5 times since installing this app three weeks ago. The last 3 times are on a new battery. Had no problems prior to installing the app.

### 1/5 — TESLA virus, cost thousands

*2025-01-15, version 1.8.3*

This app connects to your car turns on a number of features unbeknownst to the user and, in my case, factually cost me thousands of dollars in energy fees. If it was worth my time, I would take them to court. I had to take the car to TESLA just to figure out how to disconnect the tokens. This app was using to connect to my car even after the app was deleted from my phone. The app is like a virus for your Tesla get this app at your
Peril !

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great Customer Service

*2026-08-21, version 1.9.8*

I had a problem where my car charged to 100% when it was supposed to stop at 80%. I let Optiwatt know. The rep I was working with constantly kept me updated on this issue. It’s been a few months and I’ve received 5 emails with updates, even if there wasn’t anything new. She would just contact me to let me know they were still working on it.

### 5/5 — Easy way to optimize energy usage

*2026-07-31, version 1.9.8*

I connected my EV and thermostat in a few minutes when I was invited to join a program. Simple experience and glad to be supporting my local grid by shifting my charging and lowering my AC in the summer for a little while.

### 5/5 — A solid app

*2026-06-15, version 1.9.8*

It reliably manages charges and tells me about my energy use

### 5/5 — Excellent app with tons of potential

*2025-06-20, version 1.9.1*

I’ve been using this app for about 3 months. It couldn’t be easier to use. Plug it in and it takes care of when to charge your car so it’s ready in the morning. I’m on a flat rate plan but at some point I will be able to get a hourly plan and the app will make sure that when the rates are low I’ll be charged. Also, I took a trip recently and I told the app I wanted to leave at 7:00 am with the battery charged to 95%. The app worked perfectly and I left on time.

### 5/5 — Helpful

*2025-01-11, version 1.8.3*

Good app , hasn’t crashed and very user friendly. Easily connect to utilities and car without issues.

I love using this app to charge my car during non high charging rates

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2024-08-15, version 1.7.0*

Great app, with amazing perks and functionality!

### 5/5 — One word ..awesome

*2024-08-14, version 1.7.0*

Easy to operate, no manual intervention needed, leave whole charging mess to optiwatt. By morning I get my car 80% charged like supercharger, even if I have only 30% left on the night. My first 5 star app. No complaints.
