The save process takes approximately 2-3sec per photo in all contemporary devices. Regarding the 'cumbersome' usability, we would be very grateful if you highlighted some particular things that we could improve. Most of our updates come from suggestions that our users made. We would be happy to implement any suggestion that helps make Orasis better. We will try to update the request for comments in our next updates. It works very well on most images. Some images just don't look right. Not all will. This app will allow some impossible problems to be over come. When this app does it's thing you have super dynamic range with reasonable resolution of minor movements. Use it for those occasions when there is no right exposure for all the photo. I cannot live without it for that impossible exposure problem. The auto mode makes the best corrections to poorly lit subjects that I've seen in an app. Well worth the price and all of the usual manual adjustments are available as well as some very good filters. Again, you will be so pleased with the results. I just used it on some pictures of our grandson that were backlit by fireworks. I took the pictures intentionally, knowing I had Orasis to bring him out of the dark. Results, amazing! And so easy. ### 5/5 — One of my favorites *2017-06-17, version 3.9.1* I have had this app for quite a while now. I love the way it makes my landscape photos look. I was happy to know it was still supported when I got my 7plus. In a recent update, the landscape mode gave me a black screen. The most recent update fixed that bug. Thank you to the developers for fixing that. ### 4/5 — Good But Limited *2017-01-25, version 3.7* This app is one I recommend you have, but be aware that the results are erratic. Sometimes the work looks like a bad shadow tool applied very heavily and the pictures can look pretty horsey. Other times, the result is truly miraculous – dark areas that you thought were beyond hope get opened up and moreover look elegant and completely natural. So I do recommend this app, but don't expect good results every time. ### 5/5 — Nice Little App *2016-10-13, version 3.6* Finally a sensible photo editing app for the iPhone! Simple and effective without a lot of complicated adjustments. What can I possibly see on the little screen of the iPhone to make serious imaging adjustments? This works, it's easy, fast and the results are perfectly acceptable. Then, if I need more serious adjustments, I turn to my iMac. ### 5/5 — Actually frequently stunning *2016-10-13, version 3.6* Surprisingly pleasing results nearly every time! I am not given to using hyperbole; nevertheless, I feel compelled to state that the output of this app is Revelatory! I expect to continue to process even photos that seem already excellent through Orasis. Unexpectedly, it has made some excellent photos even better. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Stopped Working! Nooooooooo!! *2019-01-03, version 3.30* This is a GREAT app! I paid for it because I LOVE IT... But now that I’ve paid for it stopped several months later. Why? So...I deleted it and downloaded it again... Still nothing. No side menu to “+” photo or “arrow” to save photo. Just a blank screen over my intended photo image. When I take the photo, it throws me out of the program entirely to my home screen and no image is in my photos file. I am bummed out! (It does work on my iPad.) ### 1/5 — App wont open *2018-10-19, version 3.26* This app won’t open. I just get the continuous circle? Any advice developers? ### 1/5 — Just makes photos look weird *2018-03-09, version 3.18* This app claims to enhance photos, and I tried about five different photos before deciding my opinion on this app. Basically, it just makes every picture that needs the exposure change seem orange and weird. I can’t say that I would ever use this considering that, so I deleted it. ### 2/5 — Bad design *2015-01-10, version 2.2* This was not thought out well. Not only does it save over the existing picture, the automated corrections never fail to make the image so much worse. Saturation goes crazy and the image is blurred. If you want to use each feature to adjust the image yourself, you cannot do it from the original image. The corrections and features are grayed out and unadjustable. Adjustments can only be made from the crappy auto-adjusted image that is produced. There is no way to undo a change made or go back to the original image to start again. And every now and then, an adjustment made will reapply random color or saturation changes you've chosen and painfully managed to make go away. The range of options that could be used to adjust images make this a promising app, but unfortunately it is not designed to actually utilize those options. Disappointing. And deleted. ### 3/5 — Even the example photo here shows the flaw in this app *2020-03-18, version 3.34* It is trying to balance everything from the darkened image which is too dark for this app to edit. It brought up the grain and oversaturated the rest of the photo to try to make up for it. I’m sure if the app designer were to redo their photos, maybe not from the same vacation, but similarly nice setting they would use the flash to light their subjects in the darker foreground and the app can then have more light to allow the photo to look like how the eye perceived it. The photo end result above doesn’t make me want to waste the space on my phone. I don’t want to bash the Dev’s hard work totally. Not even gonna one or two-star it. But please fix the image you submitted. I bet your app works fine with normal lighting situations. Where the lighting is not as extreme between the subject and scenery. But the one above, was just under-lit in the foreground and the final edit was not the best choice to show with the end result requiring a few more apps to try to repair it and possibly degrade it further. This image could be in the app manual showing the limits of the app to users show how to obtain best results and where the limits are. Then show the newer young photographers how to get the best daylight images. It’s hard to fill in data for light that isn’t there . Sometimes you must over-expose the image a bit then let the app darken it in post. ### 3/5 — Navigation improvements would move this into four or five star territory *2019-02-26, version 3.32* Many others have addressed the functionality of the app and filters, I don't have much to add there. What I do have to add is that there are some basic navigational issues. When composing a photo if the shot isn't what the user is after - the "+" sign allows a new photo to be takenwithout saving the current photo. This was not intuitive to me. Seems more logical if that were an "x" to better indicate the desire to escape or close the current view/window so that I might take a new photo. Also in the "⭐️" filter area, it appears that any selection will immediately overwrite any changes a user might have made manually. A preview mode for filters, or a way to return to cutsom adjustments would be appreciated. Just a little finesse on the interface would push this into four or five star territory. ### 3/5 — Ok, but... *2018-02-09, version 3.17* This claims to make an HDR photo out of a regular photo. It doesn’t. What it does do is try to lighten the shadows and/or darken the highlights. In the auto mode there is a shift in colors in the shadows. It also adjust too far. In the manual mode you can slide back the shadows to make them not so exaggerated. In a real HDR photo several different exposures are combined to get the High Dynamic Range. If you have use a simple photo editing program this is just changing the the highlights and shadows to bring the values closer together. In the Gray mode you don’t get the color shift because there is only black and white. This can save some photos but I would always switch to the manual mode to see if you can do better than the auto settings. There are some filters, such as cartoon or gray, that stylizes your photos. ### 3/5 — Surprisingly good! *2011-08-12, version 1.01*  I was looking through new photography apps by release date and happened upon this gem. I am an Instagram lover and tested it using some photos I took today. Its basic adjustments, brightness, dark areas and contrast are just enough to give my photos an extra punch. The manual adjustments are ideal because I can tweak my photos just enough to give them that extra punch. The result is an HDR-like effect without alot of fuss. Skip color correction though unless you really need it. So easy for no fuss editing. A good job so far. Feature requests 1. Backgrounding so when I leave the app and come back I don't have to start over. 2. Add ability to sharpen images too. Plz do not stop updating this app. I think it has a lot of potential. ### 3/5 — Does what it says. *2011-08-07, version 1.0* This app does a very nice job and saved in full resolution, also. I had very good luck with almost every picture I ran through it. There is an auto mode and the ability to make adjustments manually. The only downside was that it did crash on occasion after processing several pictures in a row. If that gets a fix, I'll be happy to upgrade my rating.  ### 4/5 — Better than iPhone camera *2019-03-08, version 3.32* This app takes really great photos in hard to shoot places. It is not easy to figure out how to use and having to save before each new shot makes it not handy. The auto mode severely over saturates. You can correct it in the editor but time gets wasted having to do it. Overall the app does a good job. But you do have to learn how to use it as it is a little wonky. This is the first that I’ve tried that makes a dramatic change in my close up shots of models, automatically. The app design is not 5 star material but the degree of photo improvement is so dramatic it demands 5 stars for that feature, alone.
