## What is Orbit?

Orbit is invite-only proximity for the people you already know.

You join through an invite link from someone already here, and you are connected to them the moment you arrive. You only ever see friends, friends of friends nearby, and plans from your circles. No strangers, no public discovery feed.

WHO IS NEARBY, PRIVATELY
Orbit surfaces second-degree people close by, with the mutual friends you share. Location sharing is opt-in and blurred to a neighbourhood, never a pin on your street. Shared positions stop showing after six hours.

INTRODUCE FRIENDS WHO ALMOST MET
When two of your friends are near each other but have never met, Orbit lets you introduce them with one tap.

PLANS FOR YOUR CIRCLES
Make a trip or a night out so friends can see where your circle will be. Everyone who can see it can say they are in and leave a comment. Multi-day trips show across the calendar.

SAY HELLO
Message anyone within your circles. Conversations are private. You can block or report from any conversation.

FIND YOUR PEOPLE
Check which contacts are already on Orbit. Phone numbers and emails are hashed on device before anything is sent.

BUILT SMALL ON PURPOSE
Every member gets three join invites. Orbit is meant to stay the size of a group of friends, not grow into another feed.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.10 — 2026-10-13

A new look. Night by default, bigger photos, and a new bar along the bottom.

Polls on any plan. Which Airbnb? Where do we meet? Paste the links, everyone going votes.

Plans that happen every week. Make it once and it comes back every week; say I'm in week by week.

The morning after, the album. Once a plan has happened its page becomes the album, and the group hears when someone adds photos.

Sign up ends on location, with the reason: Orbit can only tell you a friend, or a friend of a friend, is close if your location is on. Phone numbers now carry their country, so friends find you from anywhere.

Also: Continue with Google. Trips visible to friends of friends. The map shows your circles wherever they are. Ask to be introduced from anywhere. Vouch from the notification. Messages has its own tab. Find friends from your contacts works again. Notifications open what they are about. Mutual friends show on profiles. A plan without a photo gets a drawn cover.

### 1.0.9 — 2026-10-07

Plans you can share.

Share any plan with a link. Friends open it and say I'm in. People who are not on Orbit yet can say yes with a first name. Add it to your calendar in one tap.

Friends of friends can see your plans and ask to join. You let them in, or not. Hosts can remove anyone from a plan.

Explore where people are: zoom out to see hotspots of people on Orbit, zoom in to see the faces of friends and friends of friends near you.

Orbit tells you when a friend is close by, and when someone in your circles posts a plan near you. Never at night, and never more than once a day.

Join without an invite: send your link to one friend and you're in. Send it to two and you're verified, with the same blue check as Orbit's earliest members.

Also new: setup asks for one trip and one dream trip, your contacts re-check daily, photos on any plan, and Orbit keeps everyone on the latest version.

Plus lots of fixes.

### 1.0.7 — 2026-09-26

Meet the people your friends know.

Today in your orbit: up to 10 friends of friends near you each day, one at a time. Ask the friend you share to introduce you in one tap.

Wish list: add the places you dream of going. When someone in your circles wants to go too, you both hear about it.

Know someone before you land: post a trip and see who in your circles lives there or has been.

Also new: approve introductions right from the Orbit tab, invite only plans, photos from plans for the people who were there, 15 colours for trips and plans, and invite links that connect friends to you automatically.

Plus a simpler sign up and lots of fixes.

### 1.0.6 — 2026-09-24

Orbit is better with your people in it, so this update is about getting them there.

Find your people. Setup now ends by showing who you are already connected to, which of your contacts are on Orbit, and your invite link.

Near You tells you what to do. If nobody is close by, you will see what is missing: a few more friends, your blurred location, or a first plan. One tap fixes each. You can also see how many people on Orbit are within 10 miles, and how many know someone you know. It shows numbers only. It never shows who.

Friends can say "I'm in" without the app. Share a plan and anyone with the link can answer with their first name. You see who said yes and can invite them in one tap.

Invite links connect right away. Anyone who opens your invite link becomes your friend at once. No requests to accept.

Plans you send connect too. A plan sent in a message connects the person to you. A plan shared to a story does not, so you decide who ends up on your map.

Wider plans. See plans from friends of friends of friends, with a switch to keep the feed to close friends only.

Plus fixes and polish.

### 1.0.5 — 2026-09-18

Your area reaches your friends more reliably. Orbit used to give up if a position took more than a few seconds to arrive and then sent nothing at all, so friends stopped seeing each other. It now waits longer, uses a recent position if your phone already has one, and falls back on the last one it knows.

Near You now tells you when friends have not shared an area, which is usually why it looks empty rather than nobody being close.

Joining from an invite is simpler. If you copied someone's link, the sign up screen says so, and pasting it connects you to them the moment your account is made, with nothing for them to accept.

Deleting your account works again. It had been failing for everyone, and for anyone who had invited people it could not finish at all.

Also: a handful of smaller fixes behind the scenes.
