Some of the issues: dialogs can be unintuitive (e.g. adding time allocation manually requires defining a category - until you do the "Create" button is disabled, but you don't know why), inability to define a custom format for the invoice number (starts at 1, period), inability to customize invoice header - just shows company name - no address, no contact details... ### 3/5 — No expense tracking/report *2022-03-26, version 2.2.3* Nice app but no expense tracking to go along with the projects is a quite big missing piece. ### 5/5 — Simple and beautiful! *2021-06-09, version 1.11* I love this app. It works great on all devices and is a joy to use! ### 5/5 — Great For Freelancing *2021-03-09, version 1.13.1* So far, this is quite possibly the best, simple (not basic) time tracking software, and I've personally written time tracking systems like this in my professional career. ### 5/5 — Pretty good *2021-01-24, version 1.9.6* I'm moving from another time tracking app (which I liked, but which wasn't as compatible with Big Sur). So far my only complaint is that I'd like time sessions to round to the nearest quarter hour (or at least have the ability to set that as an option). I haven't invoiced anyone yet, which is the main reason I need a time-tracking app, but it APPEARS to be Ok. I'd like to just be able to say "generate an invoice for Client X since the last bill" without manually adding time entries. ### 5/5 — Can't live without it *2020-12-01, version 1.8.5* I do contract iOS development. Since I bill by the hour, my time clock is liteally my lifeblood, and it's gotta be rock solid. Having tried a bunch of different apps, Orbit is by far my favorite. Mac users will love its thoughtful design and simple interface. ### 5/5 — Loved the tourist mode *2020-12-01* I am looking for a time tracking/invoicing app to work out my freelancing. The price doesn't work for me, but I loved that I could browse the app without paying to get an idea of what it does. Thank you for that. It would be great if I could try out proper to see if it fits my workflow, maybe allow me to add time but only allow up to 3 invoices and no cloud support? I enjoyed experimenting with iPad multitasking and how it switches to tabs when compact. The buttons on the Mac app are nicely positioned too. Highly recommend! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Not ready for prime time *2023-05-04, version 2.3.2* The time tracking tool is limited to iOS only and has no visible web alternative. The iOS tracker tool is well built and easy to use but lacks any real functionality like reoccurring invoicing and payment processing or processing integration. The tool definitely has promise but it is clearly written and submitted before it was ready for use. Once these tools are available it will definitely be worth the monthly fee. For now I suggest waiting. ### 1/5 — Gaming the system *2022-05-01, version 2.2.2* You can't actually use the app without paying- they've only classified it as an "in-app purchase" so it will look free on the app store. ### 1/5 — 10$ a month? *2021-11-02, version 2.1.1* it’s a very well designed app but a monthly subscription doesn’t really make sense I’d pay 30$-40$ upfront but it does not provide the same value as similarly priced recurring products. (i.e. netflix, you pay for an updating content library). ### 1/5 — I Want My 5 Minutes Back *2020-11-17, version 1.8.2* Thought I would at least get some limited functionality with a demo version, but not one little bit. It's read only. There are plenty of good time tracking apps out there that cost less the $80 a year and you can play around with those at least a little. Wow! But the price is definitely not for personal use. I hope there’s a one-off payment price for personal use. ### 1/5 — Paywall *2020-06-23, version 1.0.3* Looked to be a great tracking up. Unfortunately, this app is only free to look at. functionality is behind a subscription. ### 2/5 — Might work for some companies *2022-02-04, version 2.2.3* I don’t see an easy to add projects from another app to this one so you could start off a new year. The main feature missing for me is Sales Tax per category. Not all items are always taxable in an invoice. ### 3/5 — Not worth $ *2024-03-25, version 2.2.6* There's no way to batch invoices for several clients, and there's no way to edit the invoice to work for my type of business. For $8 a month, it should have more capabilities, and there's no "Help" offered. Yikes. Otherwise, it's a good app and nicely designed but is missing key components for someone who sends at least 45 invoices one day at the end of the month. I have a lot of clients, as I specialize in a service for health insurance. ### 3/5 — Internet connectivity not needed *2023-06-27* This app works fine overall, and I appreciate the ability to export invoices (being able to customize what information is included in them, like addresses or bank wiring numbers, would be nice). I don't understand why there needs to be constant Internet connection for a timer, though — it's annoying to have to go back and add time manually if I did work e.g. on an airplane. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Great Overall *2025-10-22, version 2.5* I’ve been using it for two years and haven’t had any issues at all. It’s very easy to use, and I love that I can simply click the upper right corner of my Mac to start the timer instantly. My only wish is that they add more reporting options to better analyze yearly time and billing activity. Thank you Orbit! ### 5/5 — For Professional & Personal Use *2024-10-30, version 2.2.7* After going through the free trial period, it was clear my small business needed Orbit. I was actually excited to pay for the yearly subscription. But I wanted to point out that you can also gain a LOT of insight by tracking personal time as well—such as R&D, Admin, Accounting. Then at the end of the year getting insights into where you spend most of your time is truly valuable. It’s fantastically Good. By the way, they have very good support for this app on their website you can chat live with them if you click on the little chat icon. I have communicated with this company for Support many times and they’ve always been helpful. I am using it on iPhone, iPad, mac & Apple Watch. I like that I can choose an hourly rate for a client and set a timer and then I can create an invoice from that. I signed up for the yearly subscription. By the way if you go to this app in the app store there is a link to their website. There is a little chat button on the button of the webpage TimeinOrbit is their website. I was able to chat with their support live during their business hours. So cool 😎 By the way if you just want to simply make an invoice just create a customer and then go directly to the invoice on the bottom and create one. You don’t have to use the timer as you can manually add the start and stop time to the invoice after, but if you want to use the timer see below. Here is how i use the app. 1. Add a client and fill out all required fields. You need to put contact person too or you won’t be able to save it. Add address if you want that on the invoice. 2. Then go to clients and select client to make a new project. Pick a color and type the project name. Select billable project if you want to add the hourly rate which is what the timer will use when calculating how much to add to invoice. 3. Then go to timer entries and tap the plus button on the top right. Tap on client to select a client and then select the project you created earlier or add a new project. Type in a catagory name and tap save and then you can click start to start timer. 4. Stop timer when done ✅ and then tap on it to edit time entry. You can add notes for the job and list everything that was done there. 5. Then to create an invoice just tap on invoice on the bottom of the screen. Tap the plus button on the top right. Select the name of the client. Tap on the text that says select time entries to add Tap on add time entry notes to add the notes you wrote before to the invoice. Then tap on add to invoice on the top right of the screen. That will add the timed project to the invoice. Tap on add line items to add other items to the invoice. You can add notes there too. Then tap save. 6. To generate an invoice tap on the circle with 3 dots top right of screen. Select record payment to mark as paid and the do that again to generate a PDF invoice to email to your client. One of my favorite features of the UI is the color-coding of clients. I'm an artist as well and the colors please my soul. More importantly, the ease at which I am able to track time and turn the time into invoices matches no other software that I could find and I tried a LOT of the choices out there. The other software is either WAY too complicated or WAY too expensive. Orbit comes with a menu-bar icon which allows you to start and stop your most recent timer without switching to the application.
